I had just started using Bronkaid when it was recalled. It had helped my breathing tremendously. I switched to Primatene but don't like it as well I've been following the progress of Bronkaid availability, but it is getting frustrating. It was supposed t o be end February. Walmart had a coupon, but then said they had no stock yet. Help! ## @Sandi, If you really don't want to wait any longer for Bronkaid to be restocked, I would actually consider going to a compounding pharmacy to see if they can combine each of the active ingredients in Bronkaid into oral capsules for you: Ephedrine sulfate 25 mg (bronchodilator) + Guaifenesin 400 mg (expectorant). Just run a google search for a "compounding pharmacy (your city)" and there may even be a few that come up in your area....

Bronkaid Tablets Ephedrine + Guaifenesin

Ephedrine is a medication and stimulant.[5] It is often used to prevent low blood pressure during anesthesia.[5] It has also been used for asthma, narcolepsy, and obesity but is not the preferred treatment.[5] It is of unclear benefit in nasal congestion.[5] It can be taken by mouth or by injection into a muscle, vein, or just under the skin.[5] Onset with intravenous use is fast, while injection into a muscle can...

I purchased Bronkaid awhile back and I don't have the dosage info. Could anyone let me know? ## Ginny, Dosage info for Bronkaid: Adults and children 12 years and over take 1 caplet every 4 hours as needed. Do not take more than 6 caplets in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor. Source: DailyMed

Is this a possible substitute for Bronkaid which has been taken off the market? ## Bronkaid caplets contain the following active ingredients per caplet: - 25 mg ephedrine sulfate - 400 mg guaifenesin Broncholate also contains the same two active ingredients of Ephedrine + Guaifenesin. Listed below are the available forms and dosages (which you can compare to Bronkaid): Syrup: 6.25mg/5ml + 100mg/5ml Tablet: 12.5mg + 200mg, 25mg + 200mg, 25mg + 400mg Based on the above info, this is considered to be a possible substitute for Bronkaid. Keep in mind though that since they have the same active ingredients, it may only be a matter of time before Broncholate becomes banned as well. I'd just make sure that you are getting yours from a legitimate source. I hope this helps! ## I spoke with Ba...

December 10th, 2012 Bayer had a voluntary recall of Bronkaid for wording that was left off of some packages. Walmart does not have it in stock right now and was part of the recall. Walmart could not tell me when it would be back on their shelves but they said it would be back. I am guessing Bayer is going to repackage all the ones that did not have the correct wording on the back of the boxes pertaining to use and such of Bronkaid. This was a mistake on Bayers part and that is why the voluntary recall. Hopefully it will be back on shelves soon. ## Thanks for taking the time to share this information. If it's of any help, I came across more specific details on the packaging recall, linked below: bronkaid.com/en/FormulaRecall.html Unfortunately they do not state when it will be back o...

Are we sure that bronkaid tablets haven't been taken off the market in some areas? I went to 3 different drug stores today, in Columbus County, North Carolina, to purchase, and there was an empty shelf where they once were. Not even the pharmacists could say whether they had been discontinued. ## Bronkaid is not being carried in drug stores in Columbia city indiana ## Thanks for your kind response. ## Bronkaid was discontinued as of 12/31/11 due to a phase out of these types of medications. Have you tried consulting your doctor about using an alternative medication? ## Actually, we have not. The medicines are for my wife, who has had bouts with asthma her entire life. It seems that once we find something that works, it is discontinued. The physicians advice, I suppose, is always goo...

Is Bronkaid available over the counter now? I see people with it on eBay so they have to be getting it somewhere. ## Hello, Nicky! How are you? Bronkaid has always been available over the counter. It contains Ephedrine, so you do have to ask for it at your pharmacy, plus show ID and sign for your purchase, but a prescription is not mandated. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have not been able to get it at my Walmart or Walgreens or CVS for almost a year now I have heard it is available in some states tho I am in Nevada.

I take bronkaid in the morning or early afternoon before working out, as it helps with my asthma. It contains 25 mg ephedrine. Is it risky to take tramadol in the evenings on the same days? I called six pharmacies, and all said it wouldn't be an issue, but I'm still nervous about ephedrine being a stimulant and mixing it with tramadol, and that they both can affect seratonin. ## I understand your concern and it is a valid one, actually. It isn't that they can't be used together, but you should be warned that it can increase the risk of seizures, when you use them both, because Ephedrine lowers the possible seizure threshold in some people. This means you need to know to watch for any warning signs of them and, if you experience them, you should contact your doctor or get...

When will Bronkaide be back on shelves in Colorado springs ## Hi ann, I couldn't locate an exact answer for you, as I'm finding that it's probably going to be very different for each and every pharmacy location nationwide. However I did end up coming across Bayer's consumer care page online, who can offer you more up to date information on the availability of Bronkaid: bayercare.com/feedback_form.cfm In the meantime I'd also consider asking your local pharmacist or whom ever re-stocks their medications to see if they have any more inside information. I hope this helps!

I find it difficult to purchase epinephrine (Bronkaid Tablets) for asthma because the states New York (where I work) and New Jersey (where I live) are more worried about people purchasing Bronkaid tablets for making crystal meth than they are about making it available to people who need it for health reasons. I don't drive, don't have a license to scan to purchase them in states that require ID, nor do I have a passport. So, now you have to have a passport or license to get medications for a chronic illness. This is very unfair to people who are ill; the government is far too paranoid for my health. ## I am very sorry about what you are going through, however, these practices have been in place for several years, now and the DEA has recently begun cracking down on pharmacies tha...
