i have a packet of small and round green pills, does anyone know what is it cured for? ## Sorry, since this isn't a drug available in the US, finding information on it is difficult and I can only recommend that you ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

small, round and green in color ## This is not something available in the US, so I the only information I can find on it is that it is used to help thin sputum, a cold remedy. ## a/k/a: Robitussin, Benadryl see wikipedia ## IT IS NOT THE SAME THING!! ROBITUSSIN AND BENADRYL IN THE UNITED STATES DO NOT CONTAIN BROMHEXINE HCL, WHICH IS AN EXCELLENT MUCOLITIC, NOT PRODUCED FOR THE US. Please see Wikipedia for a Chemical Formula of Bromhexin HCL... It is so sad that US pharmacists push for Robitussin and other products like Guaifenesin, which is a very ineffective mucolitic. And the antihistamines are not always the best answer. And the cough blockers are actually doing more harm than good. It is best to fluidify the mucus and expectorate it.

how to get Bromhexine hydrochloride 8mg in usa ## Hi Sally, Based on my research, Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent used for thinning out excess mucus in the airways. Although it doesn't appear to be available here in the US, it is listed as an over-the-counter medication in the Philippines. If you don't want to travel abroad, you could also try asking your doctor about something called "Ambroxol". This is a metabolite of Bromhexine that seems to be more common in other areas outside of the Philippines. I don't know about its availability in the US, but your doctor should be able to suggest similar alternatives in the event that they don't carry it. I hope this helps!

Is Bromhexine safe for pregnant women? ## Hi Riza, From what I could gather, Bromhexine is a Category A pregnancy drug; meaning: Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters). "Bromhexine has been taken by a large number of pregnant women and women of child bearing age without any proven increase in the frequency of malformations or other direct or indirect harmful effects on the foetus having been observed." That said I think you should be fine taking it without experiencing any complications. I hope this info helps!
