I have been suffering from Clinical Deep Depression for 19 1/2 years now. I was on Cipralex for at least 15 years (I am extremely sensitive to antidepressants) - Cipralex stopped working and I have been put on Brintellix/vortioxetine - first week - had to cut Cipralex down to 10mgs for 5 days, then start Brintellix/vortioxetine 5mg and 5mg Cipralex for a further 5 days, then 10 mg Brintellix/vortioxetine for almost 2 weeks, started 15mg of Brintellix/vortioxetine yesterday - have been feeling extremely terrible in myself, thoughts of suicide and self harming have been rearing their ugly heads in my mind, can't stop crying and if not crying am biting at the ones I love. Seriously feel I could do something very stupid. Currently waiting on my doctor ringing me as I have run out of thi...

I've been on 5mgs for 2 weeks now. Having nearly unbearable side effects so no increase yet. Was supposed to up to mgs after 1 week. No obvious mood changes except constant nausea & headache. Anyone have similar initial experience & then began to see benefits? Willing to hang in there if it will be worth it. Thanks! ## Hi Jackster, Sorry to hear about the symptoms you're having to deal with. According to the manufacturer, nausea is actually reported to be one of the most common side effects of Brintellix (vortioxetine). However, other patient reviews I've come across online, do suggest that the nausea either goes away with time or by cutting down the dosage (of course after talking with your Dr.). As to exactly how long the nausea lasts? - That could be anyone's ...

My mother-in-law has dementia and has been prescribed Brintellix as one of her meds. Can this help with the dementia / alzheimers? Thank you, Pam ## Hi Pam, Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Trintellix (formerly called Brintellix, active ingredient Vortioxetine)[1] is indicated for major depressive disorder, although there have been studies conducted which indicate that it may also treat cognitive dysfunction in those patients too [2]. May I ask what other meds she has been prescribed? I wonder if this is part of her treatment because of its effects as an antidepressant / cognitive treatment? Ref: [1] [2]

I recently had an emergency reaction to Brintellix. The active ingredient is Vortioxetine and it has 532 known drugs that if taken at the same time will cause serotonin syndrome. In my case i had withdrawals changing from one med to another, so i was give an anti-nausea tablet. It turned out this was one of the meds that clashes with Vortioxetine. It is now clear to me that little is known in the Dr community regarding this drug. ## Hi Simon, Sorry to hear about your severe reaction to Brintellix. I agree with you wholeheartedly that our doctors should be taught much more about these types of medications & interactions in school. Unfortunately, this level of education is handed down to pharmacists instead of the physician who prescribes us something for a very specific reason. So wi...
