My father suffered from a heart attack 3 weeks ago and now they put him on Ticagrelor 90mg twice daily. Up until having the heart attack, my dad suffered no shortness of breath. Once being put on this tablet he began to feel like he was occasionally not getting enough air into his airways. This would happen at any time of the day/night. It was not so much a breathlessness from overexertion but as if for a few seconds his airways were blocked. Cardiac nurses were informed and said it was likely to be this tablet and to see how it goes. 3 weeks passed and still no change in the breathlessness, however, it was getting worse and happening more often. My father had a CT scan done prior to having a heart attack and they wrote back to him to say they found a nodule on one of his lungs - the ad...

I switched from Warfarin to Xarelto two months ago as I was suffering severe hair loss. All was well until very recently as I have experienced moderate breathlessness. I have atrial fibrillation, LBBB, mild left ventricular impairment and thyroid problems. I have never suffered breathlessness previously and would be interested to find out if anyone else has experienced this whilst taking Xarelto. ## Yes. I have experienced breathlessness in the 6 months since I began xarelto and it has changed my life for the worse. I have mitral valve regurgitation and paroximal atrial fibrillation. Since beginning I have also experienced increased sweating with itching pimples and dizziness. Additionally I had a bad fall and broke a bone in both hands and tore the miniscus in my knee. The doctors igno...

I am a 70 year old Indian male suffering from a breathing problem after severe symptoms of breathlessness developed one month ago. Along with other medicines Dytor Plus was prescribed. Now I am feeling weakness, pain and cramping in lower limbs. Please let me know what should be done? ## It sounds like they may have thought you had a heart or blood pressure problem, since that's what the NIH lists this medication as being used to treat. Did they do any tests? Have you consulted a cardiologist? Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions? Do you take any other medications? The symptoms you've listed can be common side effects of this medication, according to the U.S. FDA, you may also experience headache, nausea, and frequent urination.

Why would I have severe breathlessness after stopping natrilex the doctor has tried a number of times even my cardiologist has taken me off it and the same thing happened after many scans nothing showed the local gp started it again 4-5 days later breathing returned to normal but now it's the probable cause of gout in knee so would like to stop natrilex ## Hello, Winkey! How are you? Did you stop it abruptly, or did you taper off of it? If you stopped it abruptly, the breathing issue may be due to some withdrawal effects. While this medication isn't habit forming, your body does get used to anything you take regularly for a long period of time, according to the NIH, so some withdrawal or rebound effects may occur. Are you on any other medications? And yes, it has been known to c...

I am off contrave but still having breathlessness. How long will this last? ## How long has it been, since you stopped taking it? Are you on any other medications? Unfortunately, there's really no specific time frame anyone can give you, because it can vary from person to person, and may also depend on how long you were taking it. The FDA doesn't list this as being a normal side effect of this medication. Have you been checked out by your doctor?

As soon as I was put on Bisoprolol, I complained of breathlessness and feeling as if my lungs no longer worked automatically. I complained that I felt like a drunk zombie, that Bisoprolol had turned me into an old man overnight. Thing is, I stopped taking any beta blockers eight months ago, but all the symptoms that started from the day I took Bisoprolol remain to this day, I an so exhausted that I can only get out of bed every other day, my lung oxygen content has gone down to 85% when asleep, my heart rate is variable for no reason. But nobody in the medical profession will acknowledge that Beta Blockers have residual side effects and so say I have anxiety, which I certainly am unaware of. In view of the fact that Beta Blockers effect receptors of the Autonomic Nervous System, and all...

Hello, I'm a 61yrs of age Scotsman and for the past 1.5yrs started getting severe breathlessness bouts. Especially, if I attempt exercise or go up any gradients such as steps or hills feeling like a goldfish out of water - so to speak. I had been taking Prednisolone in Thailand over the past ten years or so previous to my return to the UK. This steroid use because I had 3 nasal polyps’ removal operations in Thailand that where a complete and utter farce, lasting only 2 months tops on the first operation then less on both the latter ops. I started taking Prednisolone because I saw that they used these medications. Thus, before and after the ops to reduce my nasal polyps and to stop the secretion pouring down my nasal passages. Alas, not having done any groundwork on this drug f...

sir i hav cough problem since last two months along with spiting of lot of phelgum specially at night i got few breathlessness attack also now doctor take my PFT test and reported some restrictive pattern along with this he send me for an endoscopy test which was reported with LAX LES IMPRESSION @ 40cm. sir i want to know what it is and how it can effect me? please... with due respect.... ## Hello, Rajinder! How are you? LES stands for your lower esophageal sphincter and lax means that it is loose and no longer as tight as it should be, so the coughing may be due to acid reflux. This creates the risk of your developing a hiatal hernia, where part of the stomach pushes up through into the esophagus, or you may already have one starting. The symptoms occurring mostly at night, when you...

I have been using telma H 40/120 for almost two months. My pulse goes high, I get dry mouth, I feel weakness and breathlessness,. Could all that be side effect of Telma h that I am taking? ## Hi, Sadiq! Sorry about the problems you're having. What have your blood pressure levels been, since you've been taking it? And another question is, how much fluid are you drinking each day? The H in this stands for Hydrochlorothiazide and it's a diuretic that's used to remove excess fluid from the body. However, if it's removing too much, because you aren't taking in enough, it can lead to dehydration and that may be what's causing your symptoms. When on a medication like this, you should be taking in at least 64ounces of fluid daily, not including anything alcoholic or ...

Taking this drug since last 40 days to control dust allergy. Side effects since last few days - mild headache, breathlessness at times. Are these symptoms harmful. ## The odd thing is that this medication is indicated to prevent difficulty breathing, chest tightness, wheezing and coughing caused by asthma or allergies; however it does have difficulty breathing or swallowing listed as a side effect, which kind of contradicts its purpose in my opinion. Information in the article linked below, shows that headaches are a symptom related to overdosing: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000003/#a600014-sideEffects I wouldn't necessarily call either of these side effects "harmful", unless it really does hurt you; but more so discomforting, undesirable, or bothersome. That's jus...

HI, I have severe throat pain, and a kind of uneasiness in chest, please suggest me if I can take Eryocin 250mg for the same. ## Hi Doc, I am 32 male Suffering from throat pain, cough, breathlessness and a kind of uneasiness in my left side chest unable to understand if it is a pain or heavyness. please suggest me if I can take Eryocin 250mg along with any other tablets. Thank you, ## This is an antibiotic, so it will only treat bacterial infections and nothing else. Thus, it is not appropriate if you just have a cold or flu. Have you consulted your doctor? Taking an antibiotic, when you don't have a bacterial infection creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance, which could result in some very dangerous illnesses in the future.
