I'm unsure of who to believe. I still hear that the generic is not as effective as the brand and I have heard this from some very prominent, famous physicians, however, my pharmacy says that it is the same. What is the real answer? I'm sticking to brand until I hear better. ## I personally have problems with some generics that don't work the same as name brands. I can't trust generic coumadin for instance to be consistant in its strength,My wife has the same problem with generic BC pills, some work O.K. others don't. even though they say they are the same formulary. So in answer to your questions I believe it depends on the individual. ## I tried the generic and it did not work for me. My daughter-in-law tried it and really got messed up with it. I would liketo know if lovastatin is the generic brand for zetia ## i would like to know if this is a gereric brand for zetia . i find that the zetia is too expensive for me i do not have adequate coverage. and how would i go about ordering this druf=g for myself?? i do have a prescription at this time and am paying $28.00 for a 30 day supply. ## No. Lovastatin is the generic name for the statin Mevacor, not Zetia (which is not a statin at all). Which you'd have found out if you typed "lovastatin" into Google or Yahoo search. Der. ## And while I'm here, Zetia is too new to have a generic version, and stop complaining that it costs $28 a month. It costs me over $125 a month, and even under my prescription plan it would be at least $35 a month. You're very lucky. ## I&...

was taking generic Norco was always feeling very stranged, like I was sluggish. Now was given brand and all of those feeling have disappeared and is working better. is there a difference, for some say it's all the same ingredients. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? The ingredients are the same, but the amount may not necessarily be equal. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, a generic can differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredients. While that's not really a huge difference, it may be enough that the name brand works much better for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there any...

There are a lot of so called Generics that have names that sound like the real deal but they are not. Pam Labs is the owner of Metanx. Read what this has to say to find the real truth: globenewswire.com/news-release/Pamlab-LLC-and-Breckenridge-Pharmaceutical-Joint-Venture-to-Provide-Authorized-Generics-on-Pamlab-Branded-Medical-Food-Products.html What are your thoughts or opinions on the matter? ## @WDG, Despite what some people may say, I believe that generics will always be different than brand name medications. I mean, why else would they be so much cheaper unless there was something different about it? In the link you shared, they mentioned that "Breckenridge's authorized generics will be manufactured with the same exact ingredients & quantities as Pamlab's brand pro...

I have a question. Since being in this online community I have been mainly a part of the benzo club. I have seen a multitude of questions about which generic is better (company making I assume a stronger 1mg Xanax than another, as an example). I have taken generics of everything I can for decades and have never noticed any difference between generic and brand, or one generic compared to the generic by a different company but the same drug. Is this actually something people experience or as I do, do you think it's just all in one's head? I had a friend who insisted that brand Valium were far superior to generic. I never noticed a difference, except in price. I'm referring to prescriptions. If these people are buying this stuff illegally, there's every possibility they...

my daughter is addicted to this drug. I need 2 know, what these pills look like. ## They are tiny, yellow, and round. ## Actually, there is NO possible way to describe ALL of them that are on the market, or post pictures of them. Dialudid is also available as a generic, Hydromorphone, once these are on the market, they are made by MANY different companies and how the tablets look is ENTIRELY up to the manufacturers, there is NO rule stating they all have to be the same size, shape or color. Crystal may have seen tiny, yellow round ones, but I have seen large, oval white ones, the size can also vary according to dose. The easiest way to do handle this is, if you find a tablet you are suspicious of, post back with the imprint and we will gladly look it up for you to check its contents. I ...

I just filled a prescription for 90 greenstone 2 milligram Alprazolam and they seem to be working just fine. As a matter of fact I see no difference between them and my father's name brand Xanax. So try to go to places that carry greenstone. Second best would have to be pure pack, the yellow ones. ## Thanks for the review, do you know of bad brands? Hey your Dad should not be sharing his psychotropic medication with you. ## I have been on Greenstone alprazolam for several years. Within the last few months I had to change pharmacies. The Greenstone alprazolam that the new pharmacy gets is not working at all. Alprazolam is very bitter. When I used to break a 2 mg. bar in two, it was bitter. Now it has to almost dissolve in my mouth before I take anything. I wonder if the distributor/w...

I have been taking Klonopin 1.0 for several years now, and it has worked great for me. Now I cannot find the name brand, and the generics do not seem to work for me. Can anyone advise me about this? ## The supply of named brand Klonopin is suppose to be available sometime this month. Look on the FDA website and type in Klonopin 2014 at the search bar near the right. In the meantime generics are available with no shortages. I've heard Teva generic is suppose to be as close to the named brand. I only tried one generic back in 2008 and I had a reaction to the inactive ingredients. Some generics work better for some people than others.

I recently read online that the generic form of Adderall contains fillers and inactive ingredients. Is there anyone who was on the generic Adderall switch to the name brand? Did you notice a difference? And about how much do you pay with insurance...(you don't have to answer that if you don't want) I am currently prescribed D-Amphetamine Salt Combo 20mg. I take a whole pill in the morning, then a half a pill at 3pm. Even with the medicine, I find it extremely hard to remember what I just read while studying. I have to re-read a sentence a few dozen times in order to somewhat remember. ## All medications contain fillers/inactive ingredients, name brands, as well as generics. Hi. I have had an abcess and/or what seems to be and it was just starting so I began the generic Bactrim Ds 800 tabs and Cream & they do not help it. Would the Brand Name Bactrim pill & cream be better? ## Hello, Angel! How are you? How long have you been taking it? It usually takes about 3 days to see an improvement, when taking an antibiotic. I was started on Suboxone strips and paid out of pocket first week. Found out that ins will pay for Suboxone but I have to start with the pills and a pre-auth. So I pick up the generic pills, same dose as strips were and they aren't nearly as strong... Feeling a lot of cravings and w/d's and needed to take more to keep them at bay. The only way ins will pay for strips is if I have some sort of problem taking the pills.... What can I say to the Dr so he will switch my pre-auth to the strips? Called pharmacy and he said if you go from strips to pills you may need to increase your dose by 35% to get the results as you got from strips... Can anyone please help? ## Hi. I am very concerned and confused about why generic Adderall brands are so all over the place!! I usually get Aurora brand and I'm fine with it but last month I got this corpharma brand crap, it made my stomach ache and gave me a headache! It was terrible. Back on Aurora brand and I feel better again but wtf is up with this BS?! I'm thinking about having my dr write no substitutions on my script and just pay for the name brand adderall. I've tried it in the past and it is by far superior. Motivation, concentration, and energy are all together with minimal side effects. Anyone relate? ## Yep, it's a huge problem (variation in effectiveness) and it's gotten worse over the years. Main problem. With generics the FDA allows up to 20% difference in the "main", activ...

I was on brand Lexapro for about eight years with great success. My pharmacy switched me to generic and I was happy to be saving the money, but within a few days, I was nauseous and dizzy, having nightmares and hot flashes, and suffering from depression again. It took me about a month to realize the cause was the generic, and I decided to pay the difference to get the brand. When I asked the pharmacist if this was common, she said those who start on the generic seem to do well, but those who switch from brand seem to have difficulties. Not too long after switching back, I was doing well again. In answer to a few other people who posted, you can not quit lexapro cold turkey, you must wean yourself off!!!! I stopped taking it for awhile by tapering off and had no issues, but after my depr...

I used to take Barr 40mg IR a day (30 in AM, and 10 in afternoon). I wanted to try XR, and was able to receive name brand Adderall XR from Shire 30mg in morning and 10 in afternoon. I started my med journey 6 months ago, titrating up 5-10mg a month with Barr IR. I had side effects in the beginning of my journey, but they subsided. Is it possible to get side effects all over again when switching over to the name brand since I am used to my specific generic IR, or is it just at that XR doesn't work for me?? ## Hello, MissG! How are you doing? Yes, switching to the name brand could possibly cause you to experience side effects, again. There is a chance that the generic was slightly lower in the active ingredient, as described by the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984. The FDA classifies this med...

I can't afford insurance under Obamacare, and I lost my Medicaid last December because the governor vetoed it's expansion. I've been taking Dilantin since 1967. When generics came out, my doctor warned me not to switch from the brand name Dilantin to the generic. I have not had a seizure since 1988 and my doctor always said if I switch to the much cheaper generic, there's a possibility it may not be as effective and the seizures could return. He told me this several times, the last time about 7 - 8 years ago. Last fall when I told him i was losing Medicaid, he suggested I switch to the generic. When I reminded him he had told me not to do that, he said that was years ago and that switching would "probably" be ok now. "Probably". I don't like that. I...

my doctor prescribed oxyneo 40mg and the pharmacist told me they would cost $175. which I couldn't afford to pay for 60 tabs. Is this brand or is this generic, and should they offer to give me the other brand if available ## Hello, Heather! How are you? Oxyneo is the name brand manufactured by Purdue Pharma, it contains a controlled release formulation of Oxycodone, however, there is no generic available. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It might be best to speak to your doctor to see if they can prescribe a cheaper alternative. Is there anything else I can help with?
