I have this going on plus Gurd. Has anyone been approved for laser surgery for the bone spurs. Meds help but have reduced my quality of life. I've been looking at Benfotiamine to see if it helps. Most info is about diabetic related neoropathy. Not sure about the cause of mine. Need to get some regular sleep. Need some input. Thanks ## Hello, Patricia! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Neuropathy is really neuropathy, it's all nerve damage, so even studies on diabetic neuropathy and what helps it may be relevant to your situation and could help you. Most of the B vitamins are believed to help with it and those who suffer from nerve pain are often advised to take them. But you do have to be careful not to overdo it, since there can be complications from taki...

I have major djd, severe arthritis, bone spurs that are growing near my spinal cord, a bulging disc in l 3 and i already had surgery on 5 discs in my neck last august. i need to keep working til i can get disability. i was taking oxycontin and percocet for breakthrough pain plus soma. i need help asap. ## Anyone who is an established patient of a physician and taking any type of pain medication for verifiable injurys shouldn't have any trouble having a new pcp physician continue to write your scripts, unless you have been taking narcotic pain medication stronger than 10mg. Then any physician can verify your script history thru there D.E.A. database, those that are taking heavier pain medications like oxy-15mg. Thru 160mg oxycontin, will need to see a pain management doctor. However i...

I have severe bone spurs on my heels and I have been on Duexis for a few years, cutting the dosage to two pills daily from the recommended three. I have recently experienced shortness of breath and cardial infarction symptoms, which I will be getting checked. I recently, because of an annoying rebate program through Horizon Pharma, switched over to ibuprofen and famotidine tabs in an 800/20 mg combination. I read just today that nsaids are now connected to cardial infarction in persons with high propensity (myself). Is it okay for me to reduce the mg of the ibuprofen intake (maintaining the 20mg famotidine) and by how much? ## Hello Matthew, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your situation. Ibuprofen is used to treat pain, inflammation and reduce fevers. Unfortunately I am not certai...

I have had Bone Spurs along my Lumbar and Some Thoracic vertebral bodies. Also, L4, L5 bulging discs. prescribed OxyContin gradually from 10 mg to 80mg over 12 years. Pain started to decrease and lowered my medication to Methadone 10mg /2 or 3 pills every 12 hours. Pain Managed until August 4th, 2014 car accident causing a burst fracture of my L4 vertebrae. The Doctors prescribed 4 x 10 mg Methadone tabs q 8 hours and 5 mg Valium for spasms . Pain relieve if I lay in bed and do nothing except go insane. They changed my Dose from 4x 10 mg Methadone tabs q 8 hours to q 12 hours which did not cover me for 12 hours. Then they added 10 mg Oxycodone/325 for break through. I just started taking Cymbalta three days ago for bone spurs and fibromyalgia. I have been tired, drowsy and lethargic. How long will it take before these symptoms disappear? Help Vawilled ## Hello, Nessi! How are you? No, Cymbalta is an antidepressant, but it can cause those types of side effects and it may take 4 to 5 weeks for them to improve, as your body gets used to the medication. You may also experience dry mouth and weight gain, as reported by the FDA. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have RA and herniations of 4 disks with bone spurs off of 3 of my disks as well, I am in need of a physician that understands that there are legitimate people with documented conditions that require medications that help you live; not just survive. I am so depressed now, not just because of the pain; but because physicians treat you poorly; and as a drug seeker when they have diagnostic proof that you are in pain. I need any suggestions for a pain management physician near Atlanta, Ga ## I have a similar condition and have been seeing Dr C.B. Reddy in Griffin...about 30 miles south of Atlanta.... Shabby office, but great nurses and a doctor who not only genuinely cares about you, but listens to you...(most don't hear a word you say). He also bills only for the time that he sees yo...

Loding 400Mg twice daily. Primarily for osteoarthritis. Also relieves pain of bone spurs and bursitis. Take with food. Very effective. ## Lodine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, it does work great for some people, whose pain is caused by inflammation.

...if the acetaminophen in Percocet enhances its action? I just had surgery for bone spurs and was given oxy, 5mgs. For some reason I thought that oxy would be stronger--I think I heard it somewhere--but now that just seems wrong. For that matter, why prescribe Percocet, given the liver implications, and instead just give people oxy and tell them they may carefully and occasionally supplement it with NSAIDS? ## Hello, Tristan! How are you? Yes, the Acetaminophen potentiates the action of the Oxycodone, for some people. It doesn't work for everyone. Oxycodone by itself works better for some people and, if you look at the FDA information on it, you'll see that it is also available in higher doses that are in different formations, including a time released one for better pain contr...

I injured my back & neck in 1998 & 2001. I have herniated dics L4-L5, & L5-S-1 and Bone Spurs in my Neck. I started out with a Worker’s Compensation Doctor. However they started to deny more & more treatment as time went by. In the Fall of 2014 they denied my Pain Medications. At that point I went to Kaiser Permanente Medicare, if they would treat me for by painful back injury & they said they would, I continued with Opana & Topamax. However, they do not put you “under” for Epidural shots” so I only had a few. They are just too PAINFUL! A local sedative just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve been on Opana 5mg. 5 times a day, for many years. Last year my Primary Care Doctor at Kaiser asked me to reduce it to 4 times a day, Yikes! I...

I have had two cervical fusions, five levels of herniated lumbar disk, stenosis, bone spurs and arthritis. I have been taking Oxycodone 15mg 3 X daily for one year. I have noticed less pain relief for shorter periods lately. I see a pan management MD once a month. I don't want to come across as asking for stronger drugs. I would like to know what the next step is when Oxycodone is not effective any longer? Also, how is the best way to talk to my doctor about this? I have had steroid shots and neurotomies performed with little success. I am still keeping up my Grandchildren every day and have no problems with addiction. I have noticed my pain has slowed me down though and I'm just tired of hurting all the time. Any info will be very appreciated. Thank you! ## Its is tolerance and...

I need to find a Dr who will prescribe pain killers and soma. I'm n the 2nd of the 4th stage osteoarthritis herniated discs bone on bone with spurs nerve damage etc ## Yes they are available ## Hello, Barbiegirl! How are you doing? Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That would most likely be the quickest and easiest way of finding the help you need. What is your general location? Perhaps someone might know of a good doctor in your area. ## I had a back specialist but he's the one that did the SI shots that I had an allergic reaction to so it ate through the cartilage and muscle leaving a 3" around 1 & 1/2" deep hole in my right buttox. So I was scared to go back but now I'm getting the run around from doctors and medicaid who wanted me t...

I just moved to Fredericksburg/DC Metro area of Virginia from Florida. I have severe chronic spinal pain from bulging lumbar discs, bone spurs, spinal stenosis and scoliosis (in mid/upper spine). My doctor that was treating me in FL had me on 60mg MS Contin 2xday and 10mg Percocet 4xday. Which makes it able for me to function with a lowered amount of pain. I went through 3 other doctors over the years that prescribed too little or too much before I found him. I would like to find a doctor/pain clinic that will prescribe me the same or similar in/around the Fredericksburg/DC Metro area of Virginia as opposed to having to drive back to my Florida doctor every month. Does anyone know of any in these areas?

keprocaine has been added to my entourage of medications. I am to use it sparingly to affected areas 2-3 times a day. It's for the lateral arthritis and bone spurs I have in one shoulder. After being treated with an injection (not w/keprocaine) the doctor ordered this cream. Has anyone ever used this and how did it help you, if at all. It worked wonderfully until I felt so good that last night I flipped around in bed to that side and came down on that miserable shoulder and I heard the crunching. Now for the test. I have put it back into use.

I been through 6 failed lower back operations damage nerve scar tissue on nerve 5 deterioration disc upper back 3 severe multiple bone spurs sticking me in my nerves and 2 bulging disc in my neck and another bulging disc in my lower back pain sooooo bad, but the cdc and the government want to drop our pain meds so low I'm almost back to being bed ridden it's horrible what they are doing to all of us PAIN SUFFERS ## Unfortunately, the way current U.S. FDA and DEA regulations stand, being pain free is not actually a right. I do agree with you that it should be, so please don't misunderstand, I've been in miserable pain myself and I don't think anyone should have to deal with it, I am just telling everyone how the laws currently stand. As they are, at the moment, no doc...

I have been in Pain Management for 15 years. I have the usual round of diagnoses. Herniated discs at cervical, thoracic and lumber spine. Bone spurs through out. I have spinal cord compression in my neck. Pain. I just switched from 16mg of Exalgo (Dilaudid ER) with Fentanyl ir for breakthrough- back to 100mcg Fentanyl patches with 15mg Morphine 3x a day for breakthrough. I feel like a trapped rat. To the outside world I'm a professional woman, mother of 3 grown children. I'm no different from any other junkie though. I wanted to go into suboxone assisted substance abuse treatment. Then I found out that, for quite a while, you have to be at the program every day to pick up meds (and go to therapy/group). I'd lose my job! I can walk into Pain Management, ask for Suboxone and l...

What types of medications have been tried? Many people that don't get results from traditional analgesics often have good luck with some of the anticonvulsants that can help with nerve pain, such as Gabapentin:

Is this legal to cut the medication down this much at one time? I have been on 6 10/500 mg hydrocodone/Lortab for well over a year now for fibromyalgia, scoliosis, arthritis, bulging disc, bone spurs, etc. The clinic dr. decided that he prefers the patients there (all/any that take more than 4) be cut down by 2 a day, now making it 4 daily. Shouldn't he lower the dose slowly just as he slowly raised the dose? There has been no substitute given. I already take ibuprofen too. Now I'm feeling more pain and I HAVE TO WORK. Is this legal? Morale? Is there anything I can do about this? Please help. I live in Indiana ## I know how you feel, but unfortunatly the DEA is breathing down doctors necks because of the very few that are running pill mills. I am not a doctor or a lawyer, but I ...

My best friend, who introduced me to her surgeon that performed my 360 fusion, was recently forced to return to PM due to pain from numerous back problems including but not limited to Bone spurs, bulging discs, curvature of the spine and more..., Her PM clinic is about an hour away from mine. Anyhow, he had her on Oxycodone 15 MG IR 4 times a day and he recently added Oxycontin 30mg ER twice a day due to her not having much relief from just the 15 mg pills. It made all the difference in her level of pain and I had my friend back :) When she went to fill at the pharmacy (CVS) she has always used due to them being next door to the clinic, she was told she would have to go to a pharmacy in her county (next exit down) as could no longer fill for her out of county (we are in TN and first we ...
