I had government assistance which i had medical coverage since i had a baby and at the time did not have a job. Now i have a job and as soon as i get it i find out i make too much and can't afford the iron infusions i need and the insurances plans i have seen are way too much for a single mother getting on her feet so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or help ## It may help more if you can tell us what area you are in? Then people may be better familiar with what programs could be available to help you. Can you please post back? I understand the situation you are in, it is sad and happens to many people.

Hi, my name is Ashley. I wanted to just make a place where fellow people who are either struggling with addiction or who are struggling to maintain sobriety to just come and tell their stories, vent or ask for advice. If you are going to come here to judge, be inconsiderate or just plain rude and mean. Take your Debbie downer butt somewhere else. I want this to be a place where we can help each other heal. From one addict to another. So please tell your story, ask advice or just talk Cuz lets face it talking to someone who can relate helps to heal! I went for two years before realizing I wasn't the only one going through opiate addiction and have been clean for three months. And one more thing PLEASE DO NOT GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE UNLESS YOU ARE A DOCTOR SPECIFICALLY TRAINED IN TREATING...

I suffer from severe fibromyalgia for years now. It is documented and has been acknowledged by other Drs. I have recently relocated to Youngstown Ohio. I recently visited a doctor to become a patient for my pain and other unrelated issues- high blood pressure, etc. The doctor pretty much asked me to leave the office and refused to even consider treating my other nonpain issues AND told me that no other Dr. would bother to see me either. My only recourse for ANY medical treatment would be to visit a hospital-apparently here I am untouchable. I cannot begin to believe that this is the norm here. Any help, suggestions, clinics, etc is greatly appreciated. I am suffering daily and need someone to help. ## What was his reasoning for dismissing you as a patient and saying no other doctor woul...

i ran out of metropolol on board ship and only amplodipine is available onboard. can i use it as a substitute even for just a month before i finish my contract on board? ## Hello, Bhong! How are you? Yes, switching from one to the other is usually okay, you just can't stop taking such a medication cold turkey. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. The doctor should be able to help you discover an equivalent dose. Is there anything else I can help with? ## However, if the doctor doesn't advise it, then you should follow whatever instructions they provide.

I do not get messages back from this board...I know I get them as my email says I have a answer to my question every now and then but I can not see the reply. I've 10 spine surguries an several are a failure that'll never be corrected. Ive have nerves burnt, inj's. in my spine, 3 out of the last approximately 28 I was wide awake, Velcro was used to secure my arms and legs. I was told I would be lightly sedated, fentynal/vercit ...vercaid, don't know how to spell it :/ does NOT work on me, I am gave propafal/propnal? another great rx word I'm not sure how to spell...the docs assured me I would not have the vercet/fentynal combo during inj's. into my tail bone or L-4-5 area. Torture comes in many forms, I can remember the 3 misleading the inj's. perfectly. Docs...

Are there many people on this board that are going to a private Dr for pain meds? It seems almost every one is forced to go to a pain clinic and these clinics are horrible with all their rules and the way they treat chronic pain sufferers that are in need of pain medicine. And even worse is a methadone clinic. ## Not all pain clinics are horrible, but yes, some of them are and Methadone clinics are not intended to treat pain patients, they specialize in treating drug addiction. Learn more Methadone details here. Many private physicians are reluctant to treat chronic pain, because they are not specially trained in doing so, which means on top of the legal concerns, they also have to worry about mismanaging someone and being help responsible for that. Are there any other questions or comm...

Thorough education by my Pain Management Board Certified Doctor, and his Physician Assistant. The reason Doctor's like Methadone, is it reacts dually as both a traditional narcotic pain reducer, as well as working on NERVE pain. Very few narcotics work on Nerve pain. Usually you have to add Lyrica, or a step therapy drug such as gabapentin or Topamax. So its two birds with one stone. Also, methadone, at therapeutic doses, is lower in amount necessary to work, hence less side effects, including brain fog, dopy, or constipation. This is the same reason Pain Specialists prescribe (or did) Oxycodone. It did not work on nerve pain, only like a traditional strong narcotic, however was much less sedating. And all our goals are to be more active and live our lives with friends and family. An...

Hi, I was diagnosed with boarder line long qt, a couple of years ago and was taking 50mg of noten once a day, but now I've fallen pregnant, I was changed to metropolo 25gm twice a day. I have had pretty bad morning sickness where I'm nauses in morning and dizzy all day, I don't come good to around 4 pm in the after noon. I had my blood pressure taken with a mid wife and my blood pressure was 100/ 45, which she said was very low!!! Im not sure if it is the medication or the morning sickness? My heart specialist is on leave, so I can't talk to him about it? Should maybe I only take 25gm a day instead of twice a day? Thank you kindly regards louise. ## Hello, Louise! How are you? Congratulations on the baby! The 45 is very low, though the 100 is considered safe. Were you ha...

I've googled and searched message boards and haven't found anything that looks like this pill. It's small, round, kind of a Pepto bismol pink, and has only a triangle imprint. There is no scoring, letters, or numbers. It is a hard consistency. Does not break easily. Does anyone have any ideas what this may be? I have a picture but can't see where I can post it along with my message ## I have these as well and really can't seem to figure out what it is!!! Makes no sense. Found it in my sisters room. She's had a history of oxycodone abuse but this can't be searched I've looked everywhere. Have you had any luck with it yet? ## It turned out to be oxy 20mg. Most likely manufactured outside the US ## Hi ICAG2017, Thanks for keeping us updated on the pill's...

The AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, THE US BOARD OF PHARMACISTS, , TAMERICAN PHARMACISTS ASSOCIATION, THE AMERICAN OSTEOPATHiC ASSOCIATION, and almost all 50 State's boards were against this debacle we are in ## @kim, Determining whether hydrocodone should be highly restricted or not is always going to be a hot debate between those in chronic pain who need this drug to function and those in the DEA/FDA/medical field who feel a strong sense of responsibility to fight back through restrictive use of controlled substances. In my opinion, other countries such as Portugal are a better example of how restricted things should be. Over there ALL drugs are decriminalized and instead of getting thrown in jail or being reprimanded for using these substances, you are offered treatment and mental ...

I believe Fl. has the worst problem with going overboard on tightening up the oxycodone supply. OK there were alot of deaths from it but Fl. is home to alot of older people no denying that. This is the retirement state so of course we have more oxycodone being prescribed here than most states. But this across the board slamdown on all doctors and pharmacys within just a couple of years was not the way to do it. Sure we want the out of staters not to come here. But now we can't even leave the county we had the script filled in. You know what I'm saying. I've tried writing to WPBF in West Palm Beach with no response so I'm going to try again and at another station and the papers. There are so many 100% legitimate pain patients that are having an extrordinarally hard time g...

If I go in front of a hearing board for my drivers license and they know I'm prescribed methadone, will that prohibit me from getting my drivers license? ## It really depends on why you are going before the hearing board and how the Methadone affects you. They do have the right to deny, if they feel you may be driving impaired, or under the influence, so basically any reason that might mean you are possibly putting others in danger, according to most state laws. What state do you live in? If you can post back with this information, I might be able to research more precise details for you. Thank you!

12 years ago my church had a ski and snowboard retreat. Traditionally we race together at the last run of the day. By the time i hit the bottom there was a huge pile up and i twisted my board sideways to stop at about 45mph and my torso twisted the opposite way. Since then a have not been able sit, sleep, or walk comfortably. I have no history of drug abuse but the doctors felt it was time to try alternatives such as Naproxen and really big 800mg Ibprofen. My life was much easier when a I able to responsibly manage my more "illicit" pain medication ## What type of doctors are you seeing, are they general practitioners, surgeons or pain management specialists? If they are general practitioners and/or surgeons, then they really don't have a choice by to try to transition you a...

Hey everyone, I'm new to the boards and was hoping someone would be able to help me with this because I am at an absolute loss. I'm from Long Island so I'm looking for anything in Nassau or Suffolk County! Anyway, My emergency room CO-Pay is Extremely high and I just can't afford it up front like they insist. Urgent Care/City MD/Walk in is much more affordable for me. I took a bad fall down the stairs this afternoon and I have a huge lump on my arm, cut my tongue open, I'm in massive pain. I don't typically take pain medication because I'm luckily pretty healthy but I really need to get to a walk in tomorrow that will examine me, make sure I'm okay and be ok prescribing me pain meds (at least for a few days until I can afford the ER when my paycheck comes in
