Why does a doctor put a patient on coumadin? I was put on it after developing a blood clot after aneurysm surgery. And have been on it for lmost two years. ## Coumadin is a medication that thins out your blood, so that you will not have any blood clots happen. It's a very good medication. Just be VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CUT YOURSELF, reason being is that since your blood is thinned out you will bleed more and its takes longer to stop the bleeding. Also you will bruise yourself a lot faster too if you bump into something. You should always ask your Dr. why he/she is giving you this medication and any others and also have them explain it to you so that you fully understand and you can always ask a pharmacist about any and all medications. Also you did'nt say how many mg you are taking...

I was told the manufacturer of this specific generic was caraco, however no one has ever heard of a 'generic Trileptal' capsule that is all white. Reason being - I think I was given the wrong drug, and thus had withdrawl symptoms for a week, followed by a few small break through seizures, ending with a gran mal - first ever... any info would be much appreciated. thanks. ## Hello I read your post. My generic is trileptical. I'm on the drug been for a few months. I'm skeptical with it as it says you mix with oxycodone it can lower your blood level and over dose. In general blood thinners just seem dangerous to me. I had a PE six months ago and was on Xarelto for the duration of six months recommended by my doctor. She stated the treatment would be about six months. Well after going in yesterday for a follow-up my clots are gone with a little bit of scar tissue but my d-dimer test was a little low and she wants me to continue on thinners. I have taken myself off of them for two weeks now because I just did not enjoy the effects. Xarelto caused me a lot of excessive bleeding during my monthly cycle, I became dizzy, and my stomach bloated up something strange. I felt like I aged in a matter of six months losing a lot of my hair and skin just looks bad and old. Before this happened I did not look like that. I also lost most of my hair during the si...

Another day, another blood test! Father, 82, had an ICD fitted Oct '15 after 6 week check he was started on blood thinner Sintrom Dec '15. Initial dose of 14g reduced to 10g, then 9g. INR today was 5.9 & re-test was 6.3! After discussion with hospital he has now been prescribed1g/day for 14 days then another good test. How long does it usually take to settle on a dose that keeps the INR stable between 2.0 & 3.0. ## Should read Sintron. Dark U/A prompted a clinic visit last Sunday. Nurse said this was common. Strip test showed no probs. INR was 6+ then 5+ & finally 2.9 which got me thinking as to the accuracy of the testers (see other discussion). I am on blood thinners right now and I need to lose weight so I would like to know if I can take Lipozene with a blood thinner? ## Lipozene is just a supplement that is claimed, but not proven to actually work for anything. The FDA does warn that is has caused nausea, heartburn, and diarrhea in some people that take it. It may just be a supplement, but some of them can affect your INR. What blood thinner are you taking? ## Can I take Lipozene while I take Eliquis, a blood thinner? ## Can I take lipozene while taking eliquis? ## Eliquis twice a day.
