Do I still need to take my losartan now that I am on diltiazem and digoxin for Afib? ## What has your doctor advised? What have your blood pressure readings been? How's the a-fib? The Losartan is an ARB and the Doltiazem is a calcium channel blocker and while they both treat the same types of conditions, they are often used together to help enable better control of them. Thus, one shouldn't be stopped, without your doctor's approval and supervision. Are there any other questions or comments?

Is there any drug for blood pressure that does not have side effects? All those I have come across for my use have side effects. Any suggestion for a drug without side effects for long term use? ## No, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects. The NIH lists the most common ones for blood pressure medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, such side effects are usually transient and will go away, once your body gets used to the medication, which usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks. What medication has your doctor instructed you to take?

I have been taking medicines for BP. The medicines is changed from one to another like Ramipril 5mg, Losarton Sodium 50mg, Telmisartan 40 mg, etc. I want to know is there any problem in changing the medicines or one should I stick with only one medicines. Please advise. ## Yes, you should find one that works for you, without causing a lot of side effects that make you miserable and stick with it. When you keep switching, your body doesn't have a chance to get used to any medication and for it to reach its full level of effectiveness. Additionally, stopping one abruptly to switch to another may cause a rebound effect, which means your blood pressure and heart rate can bounce back up, so you kind of negate any effect the medication may have had. What medication has your doctor recomme...

I have been prescribed ramipril 5, telmisartan 40, losartan sodium 50 at different occasions for blood pressure. I want to know is there any harm in changing the medicines from time to time. Or one should stick to one medicine for BP. Please let me have your suggestion in this regard. Please note that alongwith this BP Medicine I have been taking Glibenclamide5mg+Metformin 500 mg (for diabetic) ## Hello, Kaaliya! How are you? You should take whichever medication your doctor has prescribed, unless they tell you to change it or to stop taking it. These types of medications take awhile to reach their full levels of effectiveness in your body, so switching too frequently wouldn't actually give them a chance to work. Which one are you currently taking?

I have been taking Losar H and Glucored forte for last 10 years. What side effects can I face in near future? Do I need to change the medicines? ## What has your doctor advised? Side effects are actually short-term effects that a medication has on your body and they usually peak at around 4 to 6 weeks of use, then taper off in severity. There are, of course, always risk associated with the long-term use of any medication, but the risk is far greater if you let your conditions get out of control. There is also no way to know if they will cause you any problems, at any point, in the future. With high blood pressure and diabetes, it is never advisable to stop any medication, without consulting your doctor. And if they are still working well for you, there is no reason to change medications...

I take 50 mg Pristiq and have been doing so for about a year. I used to take OTC cold medicines to fight off a cold. My question is whether those with Dextromethorphan can be taken with Pristiq safely? ## Hello, My findings state that there are potentially unsafe interactions between Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and Dextromethorphan. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Talk to your doctor before using dextromethorphan together with desvenlafaxine. I am 62 and have no history of hypertension, yet there was a sudden spike in my blood pressure reaching 160/100, so my Dr. prescribed several medicines (Amlodipine 5mg, Enlapril, Clopidogrel 75mg, Aspirin 75mg, Atrovastatin). I took them for 4 days and immediately my B.P. showed normal. Then the Dr. told me I will have to take the medications as prescribed for the rest of my life or I will have to face rebound effects. I don't like the idea of being on medications forever. It was a small sporadic incidence with grade 1 mild heart dysfunction. I then went for a 2nd opinion from an expert Dr. He asked me to discontinue all previous medications and take only 1/2 Amlodipine and 1/2 aspirin daily for 6 months. I found one of the previous meds was Plavix (Clopidogrel) and learned that it ...
