Just trying to find out what this drug is since the other two I put in is also a blood pressure. That will make me taking 3 blood pressure at one time. ## Hello, Jeanette! How are you? This is Bisoprolol with Hydrochlorothiazide and yes, it is used to help treat high blood pressure. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, increase urination and dehydration. It is common to prescribe multiple blood pressure medications, if someone's blood pressure is resistant to others. As long as they are all in different medication classes, there is usually no problem and one or more can be removed later, after your blood pressure levels improve. How high has your blood pressure been?

I have been getting the generic version Ziac 5-6.25 for years from Prescription Solutions. Now they say it is unavailable with no future date of availability. What is going on? ## I have no information on why there is a shortage, but there is one currently reported by Sandoz, they list it as being backordered. Have you spoken to your doctor? They may be able to suggest an alternative medication, or prescribe separate tablets of the Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Today I recieved this but it is a blue tablet with ( 5 0 3 ) on one side of it and the letter M on the other side. the pharmasicst said that it was a generic brand that has a beta blocker in it. I do not know what that is either. And this is my first time having to take any type of high blood pressure pill. Can you tell me if this is correct or not. I would appreciate any help on this at all. ## Yes, this tablet contains 5mgs of Bisoprolol and 6.25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide, this combination is commonly used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiac conditions. Bisoprolol is the beta blocker that your pharmacist mentioned and the Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that help to reduce the amount of fluid retained by the body, which in turn also reduces sodium. Hi. I'm on 1.25mg per day of Bisoprolol Fumarate. My resting heart rate goes down to about 45 BPM at times. Should I be concerned? ## Have you talked to your doctor about it? That is a very low heart rate, so it may signify another health problem, or it could mean that this just isn't the right medication for you to use.

Is this drug going to be discontinued? ## Hello, Carma! How are you? Not that I'm aware of and several searches haven't turned up anything say that it is going to be discontinued. Did you someone tell you that it was? This medication is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dehydration, increased urination and hypotension. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Could biso fum/hct tab 5-6.25mg cause heart problems.I had a electrocardgram and it showed an abnormality and my doctor took off this medicine that i have been taking several years. Could this be the reason i am having heart problems. Now they are talking pace maker. ## Bisoprolol is a beta blocker and they can sometimes cause palpitations, because of their mechanism of action in the body, but they are not usually dangerous and generally don't persist once the medication is discontinued. What has your doctor said has caused it? It is probably more likely that your heart problems have been caused by something else, such as the condition you were taking it for to begin with, like hypertension.

I have been taking BISOPR/HCTZ 10/6.25 for quite some time with very good results. I recently began seeing the VA and was prescribed Hydrochloriothiazide 25MG, half a tablet a day along with Bisoprolol Fumarate 10MG a day in place of it. Is this okay? It seems at even half a tablet, the Hydrochlorothiazide is a little high. ## It is commonly used in much higher doses than that. Has your blood pressure been under control? Did they give you a reason for the switch in dosage? It may lower your blood pressure even more or cause some dehydration if you are not carefully monitored.

I am 41 years old. My doctor prescribed me adco-bisocor 10 after I have given birth stillborn prematurely caused by high blood pressure, and the clinic also prescribed me redig 25 and pharmapress 10. Then i asked the doctor about these two prescriptions from the clinic and he told me to use it as well, but I feel side effects of dizziness, painful feet, weaknesses in my knees and arms, and irregular heart beating. Is it right to continue with all the doses at one time or can I reduce adco-bisocor to 5mg? Also, can I use adco-bisocor during my pregnancy period?

I believe the doctor told me I could use Sudafed and Bisoprolol-HTZ 5.25mgbloodpressure med)together...Is this correct..and are there side effects? ## Hi Edward, From what I could gather, there are no drug interactions listed between Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) and Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide, so they should be safe to use together. However it is important to note that all prescription drugs do carry a risk for side effects. Some common side effects of Bisoprolol + Hydrochlorothiazide include: problems with vision, eye pain, stomach pain, leg pain, weight gain, swelling, irregular heartbeat, numbness, weakness, and dry mouth. Common side effects of Sudafed include: insomnia, headache, nausea, vomiting, weakness, irregular heartbeat, challenges with breathing, and abdominal pain. This...

Hi. I'm on 1.25mg per day of Bisoprolol Fumarate. My resting heart rate goes down to about 45 BPM at times. Should I be concerned? ## Hi Paul, Some safety guidelines for this medication state that your blood pressure should be checked regularly to determine your response to bisoprolol. Your doctor may ask you to check your pulse (heart rate) and if your pulse is faster or slower than it should be, it recommends that you call your doctor. I do agree that 45 bpm is pretty low and could possibly mean that you should adjust your dosage a bit if at all possible. 1.25mg appears to be a pretty low dose of the medication, but I'd ask your doctor about cutting it in half if need be. I hope this helps! ## Thanks for this excellent, detailed response, David. Great advice!

I am taking bisoprolol(concor1.25) for MVP. and eltroxin 25 mcg for hypothyroid disorder ..how long I can continue with this medicine. ## You should continue them for as long as your doctor deems them appropriate to treat your conditions. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, weight changes, hypotension, and hair loss. There may come a time, when your body gets used to them, so they stop working, as well, and if so, you may need a dosage adjustment, or switch to alternative medications. Is there anything else I can help with?

I should be taking one bisoprolol fumarate 2.5mgm tablet daily and like Teva brand but pharmacist could not get that particular strength so has given me 1.25mgm to take two daily.I suffer bad side effects from most medication and have been very uncomfortable since taking lower strength tablets with full feeling in stomach followed by uncomfortable feeling in intestines. Is this because I am taking twice the am mound of " carrier"ingredients which cause most of my adverse side effects. ## @Beany You are not taking 2x the carrier ingredients.
