Yes, I am trying to find a way to taper off methadone. I am a recovering addict and I have been in recovery 9 years. In my methadone treatment I was at 70 mg @ day and reduced to my current 30 mg @ day in small amounts over time at the clinic I am in. I have heard that a psychiatrist, under certain conditions could write it. Insurance doesn't cover MMT and my wife and I both go. With one income and 2 kids life is financially impossible. ## Unfortunately, no. Under current U.S. laws to have it administered for addiction treatment or maintenance, it can only be given in a clinical setting by those that are specially trained in its use. However, it is your right to taper off and if you tell them, they should help you to do so, but you do need to be aware that most people never get off ...

Did anyone know if the Birmingham metro methadone clinic will let you charge a dose and pay later or do you have to pay every time on time? ## I LIVE IN BIRMINGHAM BEEN IN TREATMENT 5 YEARS. Its a business,, they could care LESS if you can't pay.. You get established and later you can CHARGE ONE DOSE.. if you don't have the money then they don't care,, flop around on the sidewalk for all they care. Sign up for medicaid ,, they will pay for it. If not eligible then you are screwed, because they are so afraid the insurance companies won't reimburse at their fee of $ 14 a day , they wont take it. OBAMACARE was suppose to change that,, and when I get done with some of these clinics by suing them thru the justice dept. THEY WILL TAKE INSURANCE THEN WHEN BARACK AND HIS DEA GET...

I'm looking for a doc that will prescribe methadone. I recently get a prescription for 70mg a day and when I went to get my last refill he told me I need to find a new doctor that he won't be able to prescribe me anymore because they are changing the law and for him to prescribe for pain management he had to be a PAIN specialist and then he would lose his mal practice so I'm in a huge bind. He's been prescribing me for almost 7 months and he said he would write me till the end of the year and that's it. Idk if he's lying or what the deal is. I can't afford clinics not to mention my work schedule won't allow it. Has anyone else heard of this and or know of a doctor in or around birmingham. Maybe you could also help with some information? ## Yes, there are ...

I been going to the methadone clinic in Birmingham for 3 years,I always pay for my dose, but this one day I ask to charge and I had to damn near get on my knees and beg to charge,Three years of paying and I ask for help this one time so you think they help me,he'll no,they don't care. ## I would pay like clock work but one day i owed 7 dollars and the medicating nurse was going to refuse medicating me. But another nurse told her to go ahead and dose me. In the early days I thought methadone centers where there to help improve your life ? But when the 1980s came and Reagan cut federal money to MHMR's doctor's opened up their on private methadone clinics. That's when it became cut and dry money for methadone and if you don't like it, go back to your street drug life ...

I live in Birmingham, AL and I just can't afford getting my methadone though a clinic since I lost my job, and I do not have insurance. Are there any doctors in the local area who prescribe methadone as maintenance program? ## I'm sorry, but under the current laws, private practice doctors cannot prescribe it for addiction/maintenance treatment. That can only be done in a clinical setting by those that have been specially trained in its use for such. Learn more Methadone details here. And really, a private practice doctor is going to be more expensive than one of the clinics. Have you tried seeing if there is an assistance program that you qualify for? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness,...

My son recently applied for Medicaid and goes to a methadone clinic in Birmingham Alabama, but was told he was not eligible. He also goes to a clinic for mental treatment. The worker and her supervisor claim they know nothing about this program! I know many people who are on Medicaid for this problem. Could someone please explain to me what kind of form or application is needed for this program? My son desperately needs help and struggles to pay for this medication. ## Hi, sorry to hear this. First call the methadone clinic u went to and ask what kind of insurance they take, like priority partners, but not the one u have. So if this is the case call medicaid and switch. Explain that u got this mainly for this reason to cover a clinic. Hope this helps. God bless. I suggest detoxing down ...

Please help me I am on SS and try to help them but I can only do so much. They have tried Suboxone but it made them sick. I live in Jasper, Alabama and have been on methadone for 15 years. It's the only thing that's helped during my chemo or when my ruptured disc are bothering me. The doctor I had just up and left and left all his patients hunting a new doctor. Does anyone know a doctor in or around Jasper or Birmingham that I can see that writes Methadone? ## Really, your best bet is to see a new doctor and make sure they get your medical records, so they can speak for themselves. Asking a doctor to prescribe a specific medication is often seen as being drug seeking behavior. Does anyone else have any suggestions to offer? ## Yeah, I'd definitely move from the deep South as fast as possible. Sorry about the comment Florida sounds like your closest bet to find an outpatient treatment center for...

I no longer have insurance and I am wondering if there were any free treatment centers in the Birmingham Alabama that prescribed silicone? ## Hello, Connie! How are you? Unfortunately, there are none that treat with Suboxone that I'm aware of, it is actually provided by private doctors that have the special waver to treat with it. Have you considered Methadone treatment? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I would stay away from methadone. Bad for your teeth. Makes you sleepy. More easy to decrease your suboxone than methadone. That's my opinion .
