Lysine (symbol Lys or K)[2] is an α-amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. It contains an α-amino group (which is in the protonated −NH3+ form under biological conditions), an α-carboxylic acid group (which is in the deprotonated −COO− form under biological conditions), and a side chain lysyl ((CH2)4NH2), classifying it as a basic, charged (at physiological pH), aliphatic amino acid. It is encoded by the codons AAA and AAG. Li...

I need to know if it's true that it helps offset the loss of hair some people experience(1/3 of hair some need wigs) and what are the dosages 10,000 mcs or mls plus Vit B complex and what vitamins/mineral supple ments? ## Biotin may help, but the only way to find out is for you to try it. However, you should always check with your doctor to make sure that it's safe for you to do so. You shouldn't exceed the dosage suggested by your doctor or on the product packaging. There is no proven supplement protocol that I can give you, I'm sorry, I wish there were. Vitamin E is also said to help with the health of your hair, so that could be another to try, if your doctor says it is safe for you to take. Does anyone else have any suggestions to add? ## I believe that while you are...

I learn from reliable quarters that renerve and renerveplus tabs / capsules are banned in India. Is it true? Our local pharmacy refuses to supply this as the legal process to get the ban removed may take months, if at all. They instead suggest Biocobal plus tabs. Are these reliable and preferable? ## On the ban, I'm sorry, but since it is in India, I know nothing about that. Biocobal contains the active ingredients: 50mgs Calcium, 1mg Mecobalamin, 45mgs Nicotinamide, 3mgs Pyridoxone and 10mgs of Thiamine. This is a B complex vitamin supplement. In India it is commonly given to treat nerve pain, anemia and deficiencies. It does not contain as many nutrients as Renerve or Renerve Plus. Have you spoken to a doctor about what you should use? ## I dont think Renerve is banned in India......

I have been taking 400 mg phenytoin for the past 5 years plus due to having two grand mal seizures. I have been dealing with a horrific skin problem (itch that never resolves, easy bruising and now have pruitis nodularis due to the severe itching). I have seen my GP, a dermatologist as well as a gastrointologist. I have had every blood test, ultrasounds a MRI and even a liver biopsy trying to cause the source of my itch. Every test has been normal. My neurologist doesn't seem to think it is caused from the phenytoin. I have read where it can cause some to itch uncontrollably. It has pretty much taken hold of my life and day to day activities are almost impossible. Anyone else out there with similar symptoms? And what would should I be doing moving forward? ## Wow, Pat! Round, Lt Green, large letter M on one side, L 26 on other side. New prescription, does not seem to work! ## Pill Image It is Lisinopril 40mgs. However, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand, in their Bioequivelence, by as much as plus or minus 20%, so that gives them a leeway of 40% to screw them up. How many 4mg hydromorphone do I have to take to match what I was taking (morphine 60mg every 8hrs plus 15mg every 4hrs)? ## The truth is there really are no precise equivalencies between different pain medications. Trial and error is the only way to find a dosage of remotely similar efficacy for your unique body chemistry, tolerance and level of pain. The presence of various binders and fillers also complicate matters from tablet to tablet, in that they may affect bioavailability or how well your body absorbs the active ingredient(s) that these excipients are mixed with. The half-life of each respective drug should also be taken into consideration... Having said this, it's probably best that you work closely with a pain management specialist to determine what works and what doesn...

Is anyone having trouble with the new generic for Wellbutrin? It doesn't seem to be working as well. I hesitate to go back to the original Rx since it is so expensive. HELP. ## i just took generic and don't know it that's the reason I have been feeling more energy and some wakefullness at night. ## There are many people who have been having a problem with it, though the FDA says the differences are insignificant. In reality, generic medications DO NOT have to be exactly like their name brand counterparts. They are allowed to differ in the ACTIVE ingredient by plus or minus 20%. In addition, the ingredient used DOES NOT have to be the same, they only have to prove that it is 'biologically equivelent' and works in the body in the same manner as the name brand did. The ...

Pharmacy changed Losartan mfg on my prescription from Pack to Teva. Have been on it 3 weeks and my blood pressure is not being regulated. My blood work is all excellent - just had it done one month ago. Only thing different is the change in mfg. I know FDA requires same - but, it does not seem to be working. Anyone else having the same problem? ## Hello, ram162! How are you? Unfortunately no, they do not require generics to be the same. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%, additionally they only have to prove that the ingredient is biologically equivalent and works in the body in the same way. And they do not have to measure against other generics, only against the...

I was prescribed hydrocodone 5/325 APAP and now I'm prescribed 5/325. No APAP on the bottle. It seems it's not as strong. Is there difference ? ## There is no difference. Apap is short for Acetaminophen . ## @Viking, BL is correct, there is no difference in the name. However the difference in strength that you're noticing could very well be attributed to the different set of inactive ingredients used in each manufacturer's version of this medication; since they have been proven to affect overall bioavailability. Additionally, when it comes to generic meds (such as this one), rumor has it that the FDA permits manufacturers to have a leeway of plus or minus 20% in peak plasma concentrations, compared to brand names. This may mean that there are only 4 active milligrams out...

This medication is bad compared to 1mg Alprazolam. I had to take a higher dose than normal to feel the same level of relief. ## Hi nuuke, how are you? Sorry to hear about your experience with Teva's diazepam. One thing to be aware of when you are taking generic meds, is that they are permitted by the FDA to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredients. This means that if one generic has -20% of the active ingredient, another generic has +20%, that's a 40% difference in dosages, plus a different set of binders and fillers that effect the absorption rate/bio-availability! It's no wonder everyone reacts differently to these drugs. I could be wrong in assuming this, but that's probably why they make generics so much cheaper as well... since you never reall...
