would like moreinformation on this drug. Is it bio-equivalent to Premarin? ## For anyone else looking for such information, they both contain estrogens, but without knowing the dosage, I can't say if they are completely the same. And these are synthetic hormones, so there are many risks associated with them, especially for older women and for smokers. Additionally, it isn't safe to take them, without also taking some type of Progesterone. And due to the risks, I strongly urge everyone to explore their other options first, such as using the natural bio-identical hormones. Are there any comments or questions?

I took Loestrin for about 5 years until I got married and started a family. I am curious to know if anyone else had gall bladder disease/gallstones after taking Loestrin. After having my second child I discovered through an ultrasound that I had gallstones and I had my gall bladder removed. ## There is really no definitive way to say what might have caused the problem. Women are twice as likely as men to develop gallstones, because they can be caused by excess levels of estrogen, which increases the cholesterol levels in your bile and slows the movement of the gallbladder. Therefore, you have two possible factors that could have affected it, the fact that you used hormonal contraception and your pregnancies, it could have been caused by either one or they both could have contributed to ...

i wanted a natural hormone replacement. is this considered 'natural'? what are side effects? ## TRI-EST PROG contains the active ingredients estrogen/progesterone. Natural Progesterone is bioidentical to the hormones in your body. Prescription Progestins are chemically modified progesterones (Progestins) so as to be patented and thus can be sold as expensive patented drugs. Natural Progesterone cannot be patented because it is found in nature."
