Needing to switch from name brand cymbalta 60 mg to generic. Does anyone know the best generic? When I tried yrs ago it felt like it wasn't doing anything. ## I find all generics of Cymbalta useless. I pay more for the original Eli Lilly brand name. I have been using Cymbalta since my second lumbar spine laminectomy in 2005. ## Not every medication works for everyone that tries it, and that includes generics. As to your feeling like it didn't do anything, how long did you take it? Most medications like this take about 4 to 6 weeks to reach their full level of efficacy in your body, so you do have to take them for awhile to see if it will begin to help you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes....

So sorry about the long crazy title but I'm not in the best of shape. This is simply because it's the weekend and can't get my Cymbalta until tomorrow. Last nite was my second nite without it, 60 mg. I can't stop crying, ears ringing, head all funky etc... I have an important engagement I have to do today and just don't know if I can manage it. I read that Effexor has is the same type drug so was wondering if anyone had ever substituted? I know all the stuff about asking your doctor etc... but that is not possible. Not holding anyone liable, just needing info! Thanks! ps have not gotten deathly ill yet as I have in the past, knock wood!

I have been taking cymbalta now for 6 weeks my dr upped me from 30mg to 4g 3 weeks ago. I feel very down in the morning still & jittery symptoms seem to get better as the day goes on, however I do take .125mg oh klonapin if needed for anxiety. My question is do you think upping to 60mg will help?? I really don't want to come off them as tried so many!!!! Please any help or advice very much appreciated. ## Hello, Phoebe! How are you? It would be best to give the current dose time to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, to see how much it will help you, before making a decision to raise it, again, or not. It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. How long h...

I took 160 milligram cymbalta on Thursday I had the most horrid side effects still had some on Friday and this is Saturday and I still have tremors Dr Mel const a diarrhea nervousness it to an extreme panic attack E & I haven't taken but that one dose I was scared to take anymore ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? Why were you taking such a high dose? Was this your first time taking it? These medications should usually be gradually titrated to reach the optimum dose that works for you, so it's best to start with a lower dose then raise it as your body adjusts. ## that is what the doctor gave me 60 milligrams sample pack I only took one and it freaked me out for 2&a half days along with many other side effects haven't taken any since do not recommend this any reason why it...

Just prescribed Cymbalta again. Mine just expired 02-2016. Is it still safe for me to take it? It's not opened and it was stored in a dark dry cupboard. ## Hello, Janet! How are you? Medications do not become dangerous, once expired, but they can lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new. Thus, it would be best to dispose of it and obtain a new supply. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took Cymbalta that was expired and was EXTREMELY DIZZY and couldn't focus. ## I have a bottle of Cymbalta from 2016. Is it still good to take? How long can you keep Cymbalta before it expires? Thank you. ## I have symbalta 30 mg that is...

Hi. I've been taking Cymbalta (60mg) for fibromalgyia for a few years. I've tried to get off of it twice. The first time I just stopped, not knowing that doing so would come with such consequences! I had no idea that there would be withdrawals, and such terrible ones at that. The second time I did it with a weaning off schedule from my doctor (which I've since forgotten). Even doing the weaning schedule given to me, the side effects of withdrawal ended up being more than I could take. When I was over the toilet, puking, and rationally thinking how it would be the best idea for everyone if I just killed myself, I knew I wasn't strong enough to go through the withdrawal process. So here I am, over a year later since my last attempt to get off it, and I'm so over being ...

I take cymbalta for anxiety, not depression. I was wondering if it is ok to take cymbalta in the morning, have 1-2 beers over 3 hrs in the evening and take a tiny dose of ambien. I've taken ambien after a beer plenty of times and its fine. I've been taking ambien for severe insomnia for a few years. Just wondering if ambien, cymbalta, and beer would have a bad effect. Thanks! ## If you're taking Ambien, it's really best not to drink, at all. I understand that you've already done it, without any problems, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Plenty of other people have also done so, only to suddenly get a huge surprise one day, when they woke up in jail or a hospital, because they suddenly experienced an adverse reaction. When should I take my Cymbalta, in the morning or the evening? ## I asked the same question of both my doctor and my pharmacist ... you will need to experiment, trying both the a.m. and the p.m. for a week or so and see which best suits you. For myself, I take mine at 5:00 p.m. daily (30 mg) and this seems to be working nicely for me.

I had been taking 90mg of cymbalta for about a month or so, and I ended up with a manic episode. My doctor told me to immediately stop taking the cymbalta and put me on 5mg of abilify. I believe I am now experiencing cymbalta withdrawal (so far, severe dizziness and body aches) and I'm just confused as to why my doctor would have me completely stop 90mg of cymbalta if withdrawal was a risk. Also, I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to lessen the withdrawal symptoms. ## Only the doctor can give you a definitive answer, but the best guess would most likely be that they were concerned about the medication possibly inducing more manic episodes, which it can sometimes do, according to FDA reports. The only thing that will really lessen the withdrawal symptoms, now, is time. Has ther...

I have been on Cymbalta ( and Teva generic 60mg) for 8 years now. Lately it's starting to feel like the med is not quite the same in efficacy as a year ago. Wondering if things might pick up if I can get insurance to cover some of the brand name again,? ## Hello, Howard! How are you? It is normal for our bodies to get used to anything we ingest regularly for a long period of time and for it to stop working as well. Thus, after 8 years, you most likely need to try a different medication for awhile. What condition are you taking it to treat? If the SNRIs, such as this, work best for you, there are others you can try, such as Effexor, Pristiq and Savella. The FDA lists them all as possibly causing similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes.

- Unused Cymbal 30 mg exp 09 2014, unopened 09 2014 and 10 2014 - Unused Cymbalta 60 mg exp 10 2013 and 11 2013 - Unopened exp 12 2013 (2 bottles) and 01 2014 (2 bottles) I spent a small fortune on these meds (copays). Is there any way to get a refund or partial refund for them from the pharmacy? I hate to see it wasted considering the cost of these. ## Hello, D! How are you? No, I'm sorry, there is not. It is illegal for them to take back a medication, once it has left the pharmacy, due to the risk of tampering. Since these are also expired, the best thing to do with them would be to dispose of them. The FDA classifies Cymbalta as an SSNRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is th...

i am curently taking cymbalta and i lost hair on my face.does anyone know if cymbalta could be the reason for this,if so im getting off this ## It all depends on how long you've been taking it, your medical history, etc etc. There are numerous side effects listed on the page for Cymbalta Details, but hair loss is not specifically listed. A number of complications and conditions may take place which could result in what you're experiencing but without knowing your medical history it is almost impossible to tell. I would recommend letting your prescribing physician know because they might decide to switch your meds. You may also find the to be helpful. I wish you the best with this, and please let me know if you have any other questions or information to share.

Any one else go off of cymbalta and experience muscle/leg cramps? I'm on day 7 of going off and since day 5 I've had horrible legs muscle pain. I didn't quite realize it was going off the cymbalta till yesterday. Started taking 40 mg of Prozac I'm fine depression wise. I'm a bit cranky, but I can't stand the leg pain. Anyone else out there experience the same? Thank you, hope to hear from someone. ## Hello, Susan! How are you doing? Has it eased up, at all? Yes, that can happen if you abruptly stop taking these types of medications. Usually, the best thing to do is to have you slowly taper off of one, while going up on the other. Were you told to just stop taking it?

I have been taking 60 mg. of duloxetine once a day, in the evening for depression and diabetic neuropathy mainly. I have been taking it for almost 6 weeks with little results yet, but side effects that are very irritating. The main one is moderate/severe nausea sometimes several hours a day, sometimes a couple days a week; cold chills; mouth sores that sort of heal up and then get worse again. Other places I have read that the side effects go away in 1-2 weeks. Mine have not. Should I keep trying and see what happens? My doctor just said "it will be fine, it's the best we have for your symptoms." ## Generally, a medication such as Cymbalta should reach its full level of efficacy after about a month of taking one steady dose of it, this is around the same time that the side e...

can cymbalta and concerta interact or is it safe to take both together? can any help with my question? ## Hello, Jimmy! How are you? Concerta can slight increase the efficacy of the Cymbalta, but it is not considered a dangerous reaction for most people. However, if would be best to check with your doctor to ascertain whether or not it is safe for you take both. Side effects may include heightened drowsiness, weight changes and mood swings. I'm on a few prescription drugs and i thought it was the Metropolol. I have been on the metoprolol for 2.5 years and never noticed anything. I've been on the Cymbalta for about 6 months. A low dose of 20 mg. My hair has aways been very thick. I notice some thinning around the forehead. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Sorry about the hair loss. It it most likely either due to age, or the Metoprolol. If you read deeply into the detailed side effects of it, hair loss is in there and can occur in both men and women that take it. I experienced it myself, when I tried it…..and being female with a glorious mane of red, I wasn't happy about it, either! Learn more Metoprolol details here.
