How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no database of what pharmacy has a medication in stock, or what manufacturer's they carry. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? You may need to adjust your dosage or add some other medication for breakthrough pain. Learn more Fentanyl details here. I am currently taking the 50 mcg/hr fentanyl patch. I have symatic dysfunction of the sacrum. Have been on vicoden 10/660, those were probably the best. (4 per day). Then doctor wanted more of a pain management therapy. we tried the 30mg morphine, didnt work at all, wanted to increase to the 60mg but they are not prescribed hardly ever and no pharmacy even carries them. They have to be ordered and then if you do get them, they are extremely expensive, even with insurance. You have to go up to at least the 80mg then the price goes down considerably. the fentanyl seems to be the best working for me but i need to be bumped up in mg. Like i said, im on the 50 now. If I go to the 75, is it going to be like trying to find the 60mg morphine? Or do i need to just go up to the 100 fentanyl. I do...

I have been having problems since they took me off of the duragesics made by jennsen, I am looking for a similar brand that helps my pain and does not fall off, I liked the sandoz but there is some back up on those i do not like the matrix because I get no relief, gell patches fall off ## Why did they take you off of it? Do you mean your pharmacy just switched which one they're providing? If that's the case, you can ask if they can order that one back in for you. You just may have to pay any price difference between it and their current one, because your insurance usually won't. As to the ones that fall off, there are also solutions available for that, there are some medical tapes and overlay patches that you can get to prevent them doing that. ## @vERWON PLEASE if you could...

I've been using the fentanyl patches for 4yrs now. Mostly Mylan brand (best out there). But the pharmacy switched to watson brand because of cheaper price. Here's the problem, for the last 5 months 6 patches out of 15 per month don't stick. They fall off within a couple of hours. Do you recommend some kind of cover tape that I can use? Because of the problems with these products I'm losing a lot of $$$. PLEASE HELP!!! Can someone please get back to me about this. Thanks for your time. ## Hello, Shawn! How are you? There is a cover tape available for them, most pharmacies carry it, so you may want to talk to your pharmacist about the problem. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects,...

I have a Fentanyl script to fill today. Looking for quick responses please folks! I have a Fentanyl 25mcg script to fill today. My regular pharmacy does not has the generic I hate. It is the pharmacy I am supposed to use per pain contract. It is Sunday so can't call doc but need right now. Should I use a different local pharmacy and let doc know in the morning? Or best not to? What do you guys think? ## Hello, LouLou! How are you? If you breach your treatment contract, you doctor can drop you immediately and most don't hesitate about doing so. It would be best not to use a different pharmacy. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and cons...

Are fentanyl gel patches better for pain relief than transdermal patches? What pharmaceutical companies make the gel patches and what would be the better company or companies to use? Thank you very much for your help. ## I used to be on the mylan transdermal patch when I used cvs for my pharmacy but when I moved & switched to Walgreens they gave me the Actavis brand which is the gel pouch one.Walgreens uses two different brands, the Actavis gel pouch patch & I'm not sure the name of the other brand but it's the transdermal type & they even ask what yr preference is. I did notice a difference. The gel pouch ones seem to work much better. Hope this helps. Chronic pain sucks. Best of luck. ## Actavis now makes only a matrix plastic patch, branded MATRIFEN. What about Ri...

I found a fentanyl patch in the closet that's probably 3 months old , it wasnt ever used but it's out of its packaging . Can I still use it ? ## Hello Hunter, Yes like all medications they have an expiration date. I'm looking right now at some old 100mcg/hr for 72 hours that I use to use. I got them from the pharmacy about 6 months ago and their expiration date is Aug. 2016 So that would be about a 1 year and 8 months expiration since it was dispensed. As long as the backing hasn't been removed it should be OK and stick to the skin. Be sure to apply it where you have the most fat tissue for best absorption. DO NOT try and ingest any part of the patch's active ingredient. It can cause an overdose! The total amount of Fentanyl in the 100mcg/hr patch is 11mg total and t...

I can't find a pharmacy that has 100 µmcg patches patches in Houston ## Hello, Chrystal! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. We are now into the time of year when there is usually a shortage of controlled substances, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their yearly allotted limit, they cannot manufacture any new product, until after the new year. Every year, we inevitable end up with demand exceeding the supply, which results in a shortage for the last few months of the year. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best suggestion I can make is to see what your pharmacy does have...

Can I get my fentanyl patches filled in Florida if it was written in Texas? ## Hi Debra! Some pharmacy's will do it and some won't. If u can, get it filled b 4 u leave 2 another state. If not, ask your pharmacist if u can do that. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? You will have the best results if you get them filled where you usually do. There are 2 issues at play here, one is that there is a limit on how much of any controlled substance a pharmacy can stock each month, so they have to prioritize for their regular customers. The next issue is that most pharmacies require that both you and the doctor be located within a certain radius, so they can more easily verify the validity of the prescription. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may ca...

I'm taking oxymorphone 20mg ER. I used to take the 30's which worked wonders. Now my msil in pharmacy is not filling for this anymore. So my question is what new opioids are equivalent to my oxymorphone? Exalgo, Morphabond, Methadone, Fentanyl, Demerol, Nucynta or Fentanyl? Anyone taking any of these I'd like your opinion. I really don't want to change meds but..... ## There really is no best opioid that anyone can recommend, since it can vary from person to person. We are all different, so what works well for someone else may not work at all for you, and vice-versa. Most opioids carry the risk of being habit forming, and causing side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and constipation. Fentanyl is the strongest you can get for use outside of a monitored healt...

I understand ty's #3, #4 work best with tylenol or acetaminophen. Can it be compounded at a pharmacy? And perhaps without as much acetaminophen or tylenol, for health's sake and saving people from dying bc they need a higher dose of codeine? I've had fentanyl patches, hydrocodone, Lortab, etc for years of pain due to extenuating circumstances and nothing works as good "for me" as the tylenol #4. Is this something I can ask a compounding pharmacy to do for me? Is there already a ty #10 made and sold under another name? ## Hello, MinnieMoose! How are you? Plain Codeine is already available on the market, via prescription, so if you wish, you could speak to your doctor about prescribing it and taking it with whatever amount of Acetaminophen they deem appropriate. A comp...

So, I checked online the imprints to my pills, the B 974 on the back some were up Sid own. So, now that I know they are pressed. The seller won’t tell me what it’s pressed with and I wouldn’t believe him anyway. Now I just spent $120... should I take a couple and see what happens? ## I wouldn't take such a risk seeing as how common it is for adulterated pills which are not from a licensed pharmacy to contain amounts of Fentanyl, which can be deadly even in small doses. Sorry you're out the cash but trying to take a couple just to see what the effects are is probably not the best idea. Can you get your money back? Good luck and stay safe.
