I'm wondering what is best med for s1 protruding disc and a pinched nerve until I can get into pain management for the steroid IV's ## HI, Amy! Sorry that you're in pain. However, there's really no way to say what the best pain medication would be, because what works for someone else may not work for you. What has your doctor advised? Much of it is also going to depend on your overall health and your tolerance to any given class of medication. Have you ever taken opiates, before?

NAPROXIN OR IBUPROFEN, WHICH IS BETTER ## Hi IETTY, Depending on the dose, both of these medications could effectively handle the pain associated with a toothache. Some people however prefer Naproxen over Ibuprofen because of certain side effects and that it may be easier on their stomach. Others find a few hundred mgs of Ibuprofen to be more than sufficient for a toothache. There are just many different reasons for choosing one over the other... One patient review I found stated that 400mgs of Ibuprofen every 4 to 6 hours was sufficient enough to take care of their toothache; although I haven't come across any specific details on Naproxen's equivalent dose for this same treatment. I think it will simply come down to which medication you react best to. Have you tried either one ...

I have been on 10 mg oxycodone and codeine #4 for 10 years and now I'm sick of it. I was told kratom is good for pain. Does anyone know if it really works? Pain meds don't work any more and I want off of pain killers. ## I have been looking at kratom forums on the web seeking alternatives to pain pills. I'm getting mixed opinions on it being effective for pain issues. There are online vendors who feature an option of buying a few different strains which you can sample. Most forum users are seeking a way to detox from the pills using kratom to cope with withdrawal symptoms. ## I believe that Kratom is the best pain reliever on the face of the Earth. I have been a Chronic Pain patient for 20 years and have been prescribed Everything Possible for severe pain. Kratom works bette...

My 91 year old mother has just been put on Roxanol prn to control any pain associated with her declining health as Dementia/Alzheimer's progresses. How does one monitor its effectiveness? ## How much does your 91 year old mother take as a dosage of Roxanol? ## The best way to tell is if she seems to be comfortable. Roxanol contains Morphine, which is a potent opiate pain reliever, so if it's helping, she will likely appear relaxed, drowsy, dizziness, and sedated, which are all normal side effects. Is she on any other medications?

Can I use this drug for tooth pain? ## ask ur doctor ## Have you discussed it with your dentist? While Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Vicodin, is an effective narcotic pain reliever that is often given for toothaches, it is not going to help with whatever the problem is that is causing the toothache. It is just a temporary solution. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more: ## The dosage you have is one of the higher doses available, so I wouldn't doubt that it would help with the pain (as it is used to treat moderate to severe pain); but whether or not it is the best option for your situation is not something anyone online can answer. Which dosage of Vicodin is the most effective or strongest? My family physician put me on 5/500, but my surgeon has put me on 7.5/325. Is one supposed to do more then the other one? ## Hi marie, Vicodin 5/500 contains (5 mg) of Hydrocodone and (500 mg) of Acetaminophen; Vicodin 7.5/325 contains (7 mg) of Hydrocodone and (325 mg) of Acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is the narcotic pain reliever and is much stronger than Acetaminophen-which is included to increase the effects of the narcotic. That being said, I believe that the surgeon gave you a somewhat stronger dose since 7.5/325 contains (2.5 mg) more of the narcotic than 5/500. Medication effects each individual differently however. The surgeon may have given you a dose with less Acetaminophen seeing as it can be very damaging to the liver...

What is the very best laxative I can use when taking narcotic pain relievers? Please be detailed. ## I get horrible constipation, when I take them and the only thing I've found that really helps is a fiber supplement. There are many available over the counter, but that might be right for you. It really depends on your overall health, and any other medications you might be taking. The FDA warns that they can also cause diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. Has your medical provider suggested anything?

Will it get relief my having ## It is very doubtful that it will help with dental pain. This medication is most commonly used to treat gastro-intestinal issues. The best thing to do would be to see a dentist, so they can prescribe something appropriate. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating and flatulence.
