Vet prescribed this in 5mg dose. Pills received say 341 on one side and have no marking on other side. They are approximately 1/4 inch in diameter and 1/8 inch thick. Other batch of pills are closer to 1/8 inch in diameter, being much smaller. Are the larger pills 5mg? Vet's office had no info on who the manufacturer was ## I haven't been able to find a listing for a tablet with just a 341 on it, there is a 5mg Benazepril with ETH on one side and 541 on the other. However, if this was something specially formulated for use in animals, it may not be in the prescription drug databases, since they are generally only relevant to human use. Didn't the vet's office have the original packaging? That should list who the manufacturer is.

My little dog ate a benazepril (heart tablet) meant for the older dog, she weighs about 30 lbs, will she be ok (she ate 10 mg) ## In case it makes any difference, she is a whippet ## How is she doing? If you have an emergency veterinary clinic in your area that you can call, I think that would be the best idea. I apologize, but I haven't studied up on the use of medications in animals. Learn more Benazepril details here. The dosage is usually only 0.1 or 0.2mgs per pound of body weight, so it may be kind of high for her. Has she been drowsy or sick, at all? ## *Sad News* Unfortunately Sparkels passed away soon after this post

How long does it usually take for your system to get used to the medication? ## Amlodipine and Benazapril are both medications commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It can take approximately 4 to 6 weeks for your body to adjust to any medication, which is also about the same length of time they will take to reach their full efficacy levels in your body. is lisinopril safe for dog use an what is doseage per dogs weight? ## Hi sara, Lisinopril is not FDA approved for use in veterinary medicine, however it is still being used for veterinary purposes. From what I've read, it has become an accepted practice for veterinarians to prescribe this medication to cats and dogs. It is prescribed for the treatment of heart failure, high blood pressure, certain types of heart valve disease and some forms of kidney disease. Lisinopril does require a prescription from your veterinarian, and is sold per tablet. I would speak with your veterinarian in regards to the dosage, since only he/she will know the correct amount for your dog based on his/her weight and medical history. I hope this helps!

I have been taking Benazepril 10 mg for a while, and my doctor has changed me to Lisinopril but the new dosage is 40 mg, is this dosage comparable to the Benazepril or is this an increase in dosage? ## From what I can tell, it's a slight increase and the equivalent dosage would be around 25 to 35mgs, however, the switching of the medications also has to be taken under consideration. When you stop one of these abruptly and switch to another one, even one that's still in the same class, as was done here, there can be redound effects to your blood pressure, making it climb higher, so your doctor may have increased the dosage slightly to try to help control this. These are both ACE Inhibitors, so the side effects should be similar and may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dr...

Are the TEVA and Amneal benazepril the same? Do they have the same ingredients? ## Hello, Betty! How are you? The active ingredient is the same. When a medication is available for generic production, it is normal for it to be manufactured by several different companies, this was done to help bring generics to market faster, to create competition and try to keep prices down. Whichever one a pharmacy carries, at any given time, may vary, depending on who was offering the cheapest price at the time they needed to restock their supply. The inactive ingredients may be different, though. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
