Benadryl False Positive Drug Test

I attend a methadone clinic in the state of pa. I've been on methadone at the same clinic for over 2 & 1/2 yrs. I've been clean since joining in may of 2011. Last Monday I had my first false/positive drug screen which came up benzos. My counsler said it's from the benadryl most likely not the Advil cold n sinus I took the night before my drug screen . Muy supervisor at the clinic was told the original lab that fulfills our drug screens at the clinic told her it wouldn't be from the benadryl. They took away my take homes while it is being sent out to be tested again. Will further testing break it down more to show that I have only took my methadone vitamins benadryl and Advil cold & sinus. I was told I failed a drug screen and must take all medications in to check them. I take advair, ipratropium, and albuterol inhaler for asthma. I also take allegra D and benadryl for allergies. I sometimes take an over the counter diet pill called phentramin D. Would any of these cause false positives on a standard UA? ## What did you fail for? Was it opiates, amphetamines, or something else? The Diphenhydramine in Benadryl can cause false positives for Benzodiazepines, PCP and tricyclic antidepressants. It could also be something in the Phentramin_D, but I can't find a listing that includes the exact ingredients. How much Benadryl would have to be taken for a positive Benzo. result? And if that person had not been taking Benadryl for 6 days, would you still expect a positive result? ## Since most of the substances that cause false positives are learned through anecdotal experience and testing is only done later, the precise amounts that may cause it usually aren't known, however, it's been known to happen with a single, regular dose of 25mgs. I take trazodone every night as well as sparingly Advil pm and sometimes melatonin or benadryl. Can any of these show a false positive for ambien? ## Maybe it was the Tylenol PM that you took that would make it seem like it was an Ambien. So they really have tests that can tell whether you took an Ambien or not? MO ## i attend an out patient program i see the lab form they make you sign. it's a 12 panel urine test. i took a few Ambien will it come up or can it give a false positive for opiates or amphetamines??

My monthly drug test came back showing benzo. I did take 2 ativan last month for my nerves, having panic attacks at the time. I take benadryl every day and have been trying to figure out why my test came back as benzo. And the ativan i took was at least 2 weeks before drug testing. Now i've been reading about benadryl and how many people had the same problem. Would retesting show this could have happened because of benadryl?

I tested positive for oxazepam. I take no prescription medications. I have been taking cranberry tablets, cystex, ibuprofen and benadryl. Is there anything that could cause that because I haven't taken anything like that. ## I do testing for cps. Will benadryl. I keep testing positive for benzodiazepines. I do take benadryl to sleep. Can that be why? I took a drug test for a new job and was in shock to hear the doctor tell me I had taken a muscle relaxer or diazepine; which I had not. When I told him I had not he kept asking me "did I borrow any medicine from anyone" instead of trying to help me find the real problem that may have caused this error. Hi, I enrolled into the methadone clinic about 4 months ago, due to the dependence I had on opiates. since starting the program my life has done a complete 180.Instead of being depressed, unstable and sad my life has become much more manageable. Nothing is perfect , but I've been clean for 4 months and I am NEVER GO BACK TO MY OLD WAYS. I tested positive for tramadol. I don't take tramadol. I take suboxone, trazodone, cymbalta, lyrica, Wellbutrin, prednisone, & singulaire. I took a hair follicle test for cps because my husband whose in jail tried to kill me and it came back positive for methamphetamine, cocaine, and ecstasy. SWIM took klonopin back in May, SWIM tested positive for Benzos on August 27th is that even possible? SWIM is 6' , 230 fairly active.. Works in construction, sweats a lot everyday and plays basketball 2x a week. Hi, I'm really upset today because I'm in drug rehab (voluntarily) and was told today that I tested positive last week for opiates and benzodiapines. I am positive that I haven't taken any of these! I have been really working hard in rehab and am devastated by this'! I had one relapse and admitted it, even though it never came up on a test. The only medications that I have been taking any differently are some nighttime cold medicine for cough and a generic like Walgreens version if Benadryl during the day for allergies. Ive been on the Methadon clinic 2 yrs.Now,no dirty urines,and one urine they said I came back pos for oxy.the only thing ive taken is otc benadryl and and 81 mg asprin.how can I be pos.for oxy, please help. ## What type of test was used, was it one of the instant read ones?
