Hello. As stated before by others I went to my PCP today and he would not prescribe it to me... Instead said I need to see a dietician.. I meet all the criteria listed. I also did all my research... He wouldn't give me a name of another doctor. He printed out websites to help me lose weight. I am located in northeast Ohio. Does anyone know a doctor I can see? Do I try and find a different PCP?

Has anyone found a doctor who will prescribe Belviq in Boston or nearby? ## I have an appointment at the Weight center at Mass General Hospital in Boston on Monday. I hope to get Belviq. Call them for an appointment, I know it's an option there.

Can the Belviq pill be cut into 1/4's and taken like that? Will it affect the pills effect? The side effects are bad in re to headache and I thought if I cut it into 1/4's I would do better. thank you ## Hello, DeeJega! How are you? I'm sorry about the headaches. If you're still taking the full dosage, then cutting the tablet into smaller pieces won't alleviate the side effects. However, the good news is that they are usually transient and should improve, then eventually go away entirely, in a few weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. According to the FDA side effect list, you may also experience nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth and fatigue. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can anything happen taking both? ## Hello, Dee! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check to be sure. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Belviq as possibly including headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and headache. Celexa may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Small round dark blue pill with 10 on one side & a v on the other side ## Hello, Liz! How are you? The Belviq tablets actually have a fancy stylized A on one side and a 10 on the other and they are a medium shade of blue, not very dark, at all. Its common side effects may include nausea, headache, upper respiratory tract infection and sinusitis. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was on Belviq for 2 weeks and there was a mix up with my prescription. I didn't have any to take for another two weeks. Now that I've gotten my prescription again, it doesn't seem to be working. I have cravings and get hungry unlike before. It seems I have come upon a plateau and I've only lost 5 lbs. do I continue taking it or wait a while and start back? ## I would stop taking it for a while, if you are starting to have cravings. I lost 25 pounds while taking Belviq, but then it quit working after about five months. The cravings started to come back. This was last year. I have just recently gotten back on, and it is working again. Side note: My sister is also taking Belviq and she has lost around 40 pounds! :-) ## @Gorunrungo, Is it possible that you could've sim...

Is it truly bad to be on Belviq with an anxiety medication? My Dr. Okay'ed it but I don't want bad side effects that can be life threatening. Today was my 1st day and I'm very nausea. Could also be from my Metformin I just started on..thinking I will stop this and focus on the belviq...and advice? ## Hello, Suga! How are you? What anxiety medication do you take? I'm sorry, but I can't check for possible interactions or problems without knowing the specific drug. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! Belviq is approved by the FDA to aid in weight loss. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, anorexia, diarrhea, pale skin and insomnia. Thus, it can cause nausea, as a side effect. What are you taking the Metformin for? If you're ...

I have been taking Belviq for almost 3 wks now and dont feel it working like it should. I have Lipozene that i bought a gew mths ago and wonder if its safe to take both together? ## Hi Stacey, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Belviq (Lorcaserin HCl) and Lipozene (Glucomannan). Based off this info alone, it doesn't seem like there would be any issues with taking them both together. However I still think it would be wise to inform your doctor of anything else you're taking alongside whatever he/she prescribes... that way your doctor can at least have your back if anything rare/unusual does happen (god forbid). I hope this info helps!

I stopped taking Belviq about 5 days ago. I have had a headache since. Before I stopped taking Belviq, I was feeling worse with feeling dizzy or aura like a migraine. I think I passed out because I fell and don't know what happened. I had also been feeling really sluggish. Low blood pressure. I called the doc. She said stop taking Belviq & HCTZ. Blood work normal. Still have a headache. Some dizziness still. What will make this headache go away? ## I also stopped taking Belviq on Sunday and since have had headaches, anxiety, racing heart, shaky and irritability. Are you feeling better yet? ## Finally feeling somewhat better. Headache is better and last couple days have had sporadic times of lightheadedness. I've also had some strange dreams too. ## Sorry to hear about both y...

I'm on day 2 and have headaches, almost migraines. Does this side effect go away? And how long before I know if I'm a responder to this medication? The possible side effects scare me but I've been dieting and excersizing for 4 months and have lost 11 lbs but can't seem to shake the cravings and desire to keep eating, my PCP RX'd me this and I saved for it ($160 total with $75 off coupon). Just don't wanna keep taking if these headaches won't go away and if it doesn't "work" for me. ## Hello, Ricababy! How are you? Yes, headaches can be a normal side effect and it may take about 4 weeks, before they start to taper off, as your body gets used to the medication, that's about the same time span it will take, before you'll know if it's work...

After taking the medication I felt a burning sensation in my throat and a heaviness in my chest. I question if this is one of the side effects. Also after taking the second dose my eyes were dilated (like I've been on drugs) lol.. ## These symptoms aren't listed under the normal side effects that the FDA has reported. They typically include symptoms such as nausea, headache, decreased appetite, rash, anxiety and impaired memory or attention span. Are you on any other medications? Have you ever had acid reflux? That can cause the burning and heaviness, so if you've ever had acid issues, this medication could be aggravating it.

If belviq needs to be stopped, can you just stop or do you have to wean off of it? Also, how close is belviq to zoloft? I was once on zoloft and it didn't decrease my appetite. ## Hello, Arlene! How are you? Belviq is not related to Zoloft, it contains the active ingredient Lorcaserin, which the FDA lists as a weight-loss drug, though it does have some serotonergic properties. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, coughing, back pain and headache. I am not aware of it needing to be tapered, but your doctor would be the best judge of that. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for answering my question. I didn't see anywhere the need for tapering med, just wanted to make sure.

Hello I just started taking Belviq, and so for I haven't had any feelings of fullness or any side affects. Ive taken Addipex in the past and had an immediate feeling of fullness. Will this kick in ## Hello, Shelita! How are you? How long have you been taking it? Have there been any change, yet? Can anyone that's taken this medication chime in with their experience? Belviq does work differently than many other weight loss medications, it actually affects the chemicals in the brain that are connected to appetite. Thus, you may still feel hungry, but not as hungry and may not eat as much. As reported by the U.S. FDA, it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, constipation, cough and back pain.

I used to weigh 285 lbs. With the Belviq I lost an amazing 55 lbs. over a period of 9 months. I have since tapered off so my doctor took me off of it. If I'm off it for about 4-6 weeks will the weight loss pick up again as though I started it for the first time? My first month of taking it was May 1, 2014. Within that month I lost 20 lbs. My goal is to get down to at least 155 or lower. I'm a big boned girl so that size would be ok with me. If I lose more than that.....GREAT! I ended up gaining all of my weight from the medication Depakote. By the time I was done with the Depakote I weighed a whopping 324. I was so depressed and hated leaving my house. I thought I would always be alone and overweight. I've had surgery after surgery for various things and haven't really b...

Hello, I have been on Belviq for a little more than a week. It works great! I lightened my food portions and I still feel full before I finish it. I am still craving sweets but it is not as strong. I keep a bowl of red seedless grapes handy. It really helps. My question is this...on the weekend, it is nice to have a beer or a drink or two. Is this OK while I am taking Belviq? I can not find that information anywhere. Thank you. ## Hello, Harriet! How are you? Belviq can cause side effects, such as trouble concentrating, drowsiness and dizziness, so combining it with alcohol could worsen those effects, basically making one drink affect you as if you'd had 2 and so on. It is really best to avoid alcohol, while taking a prescription medication. However, if your doctor okays it, then yo...

I was on free 2 weeks of Belviq followed by 1 mo out of pocket Belviq. Lost and felt good with NO side effects at all. Then my doctor said she thought Contrave would be a better choice because it is just as effective, if not more, and cheaper...just 70 dollars a month. But, I have heart racing and feel agitated. I did not experience either with Belviq. I feel like calling my Dr. Back and asking to switch back and suck up the 200 mo. For Belviq. ## Hello, Jewels! How are you? Are you certain that Contrave is the correct name of the medication? Because it is listed by the FDA as containing Naltrexone and Buprenorphine, which is used to treat drug addiction, it is not used for weight loss. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects,...

I took my 1st dose of belviq yesterday and 2nd one this morning. I have already had 3 instances of horrible diarrhea. Is this common and does it go away? The only other side effect I feel is a slightly irritated throat. ## Hello Newgirl70! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you've had, that would be very annoying. Diarrhea is a common side effect of Belviq, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, hypertension, rash, back pain and fatigue. They are usually transient and should improve or go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take about 4 to 6 weeks. If they get worse, or continue past that, you should speak to your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

I work a night shift so that means I'm a night owl. I wake up at about 11 and take a pill. I work all day into the night. if I'm going by the 12-hour standard that would put me at 11 p.m. To take another pill. I'm usually in bed by about one or two. Does it make sense to take another pill when you're just going to sleep in 2 or 3 hours? ## Hello, Shawn! How are you? You should follow your doctor's instructions for taking it, so if you've been told to take it twice a day, then please do so. The reason is because many medications need to be maintained in your body at consistent levels, in order for them to be effective. So, time of day actually doesn't matter. According to the FDA typical side effects of Belviq may possibly include: nausea, dizziness, anorexia,...
