You're supposed to take the first two tablets of Methylprednisolone before breakfast. My question is how long do I have to wait to eat breakfast after I take the medicine? ## You probably don't need to wait long to eat breakfast after taking your first dose. Maybe 15-30 minutes tops if you're concerned about absorption (as the medication has a peak concentration about 2 hours after ingesting it). Actually, according to Medline Plus, Methylprednisolone may cause an upset stomach and you should take it with food or milk. Why take it before breakfast? Taking medication at the same time every day, such as before breakfast, can establish a routine, making it easier to remember and ensuring consistent dosing. Also, Cortisol, a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced by the ad...

Just prescribed Linzess for pain med related constipation, to be taken every day in place of my previous regimen. Reading the other postings, I am somewhat afraid to take it. Nevertheless, I would take my levothyrox 1/2 hour before the Linzess, then would take my other meds with a meal. Will the Linzess "wash out" the other meds?? Also, is "unanticipated bowel leakage" a possibility with Linzess? ## Hi Molly, Sorry to hear about the constipation from pain meds. Looking at others feedback on Linzess it's easy to get discouraged and not want to take it. However it is also important to understand that these meds tend to affect each person differently, whereas patients who don't have any serious issues with it would be less likely to feel inclined to post about their...

I took my 1st 2 pills of Methylprednisolone but it needed to be taken before breakfast & I took it a few minutes after breakfast. Will that affect the drug? Is it ok? Will the meds still work? Thank you. ## Hello, Monica! How are you? Yes, it really won't make a difference, so there's nothing to worry about. They have you split them up to try to help minimize the side effects, but you could actually take them all at once each day, if you so chose. The FDA lists nausea as being a common side effect, so actually taking it after you eat can help minimize that. Other typical side effects may include dizziness, headache, nervousness and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Exactly how long do these side effects last? I feel like I'm going to go a bit crazy, I...

Does a protein drink in the morning, before taking Zantex, be considered a meal? Don't want to get nauseous, but not a breakfast eater. ## Hello, Ken! How are you? I am unclear as to how to take this medication. My doctor just told me to take in the a.m. I have been told to take it before meals and others say after meals. I am unable to reach my physician at this time. ## In our facility we administer the med at 9am; once we are sure that breakfast is available and is eaten. Every individual has a special case and deoendant on how fragile your diabetes is, the doctor may have more specific concerns on when to take the drug(ie if you are fasting or vomiting etc) Since the doctor stated that the AM is the time frame the doctor may not be concerned about the before or after aspect of the dosing too much. But do folow up with the question. The key to diabetes control is the diet/weight management and prescribed exercise with the medication regimen tak...

I. Have been taking chantix for 12 days, and I can not tell I'm taking anything and I have no change in my smoking, why is that. Also I can not eat breakfast but. I do eat dinner. I can not tell any difference if I take it without eating in the AM or when I do eat in the PM, I have not had any side effects so far. My question is it going to work for me? ## Chantix does allow for a flexible quit time, since quitting within a week does not work for everyone that tries it, some people need as long as 12 weeks. Have you tried to cut down on your smoking? Which plan are you on? Chantix side effects may include: nausea, aggression, weight changes, and sleepwalking. However, not everyone experiences side effects from medications.
