Hi all, I wanted to find out why Actifed (as a brand) got banned by the United and states and JNJ stopped producing it and came up with Sudafed. Is there a reason why? Is there a link to the legal suit that was filed against a JnJ. Any information about why JnJ stopped producing it would help. Thanks. ## Irebel is on the right track. One of the ingredients in Actifed was Pseudoephedrine [1], and due to regularly increasing rates of abuse, and large purchases used to manufacture illicit substances, its status was changed, and to gain better control of the supply, it was moved behind the pharmacy counter, so someone could only purchase a certain amount, plus they had to sign for it, and show identification when buying it. Once this happened, it severely cut down on sales, and some manufac...

I just received a prescription from my primary care doctor. I asked him for it and he agreed to a few month trial and monitor blood pressure. I'm about 50 pounds overweight. I had taken didrex in the 80's and it worked well! He prescribed benzphetamine a generic form. It has the same effect as the brand name I used to take. It is pink, round and stamped with k40 on it. I'm sure there are other generic brands. The answer to is it banned is no, but my pharmacy had to order it. It's certainly not banned in tennessee! ## It is still available, as a generic, as you said, but many doctors prefer to use more recently discovered medications that have undergone more safety testing. The FDA warns that you should not imbibe in alcoholic beverages, while taking this medication, due ...

is symdex-d banned? ## Symdex-D appears to be a product of the Philippines. I have not come across any official announcements discussing a ban. However, if there is an announcement, something to keep in mind is that it may be written in Filipino. Active Ingredients: Paracetamol 325 mg + Phenylpropanolamine HCl 25 mg + (CPM) Chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg The manufacturer of Symdex-D is "Allied Pharmaceutical Lab. Inc." who's based in the Philippines. Their website can be accessed at: apl.ph As of today, June 26th, 2018, Allied Pharmaceuticals still lists Symdex-D on their website along with a photograph of the product packaging. I understand that tribet 2 or even tribet1 is banned due to its side affects Is it correct If so is any full report on it available? ## Based on my research, Tribet 2 (manufactured by Abbott Healthcare) has officially been banned due to some serious health risks that have been associated with its use. From what I've read, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reportedly suspended the manufacture and sale of these drugs under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 - taking effect immediately. You can find various reports on the matter via a quick google search under "Tribet 2 banned"; although I have yet to find any specific details on Tribet 1. I hope this helps! ## Is there any other option for taking of Tablet Tribet 2 ## After reading about Tribet 2 (man...

I have used tedral for the past 30 yrs, with no side effects or discomfort. My father too used it for nearly 50 yrs. It provides great relief and I can be fully active, lead a normal life. Suddenly this drug is banned, I don't understand why. It is causing me a lot of physical and mental agony. Is there a petition for this? Please help. ## Tedral is effectively banned because it was no longer profitable giving the pharmaceutical companies open territory to new meds that are more addictive more costly less effective and get this side effects mainly diabetes. I know this from experience. ## A detailed review of Tedral's side effects: Source: 1979: Tedral Side Effects?, Web. I'm looking for the old formulation of Actifed. Are there any countries that still sell it? I know you can use it to make drugs, but it's the only thing that works for me (and it helps me sleep too). I would not have ANY problem having the FBI at my house if I could get some. They'd be sitting on my shelf just exactly like my 16 bottles of shampoo, 42 bars of soap and 18 boxes of bandaids (I'm not a hoarder, I just hate running out of stuff...and stupidly, before that stuff went away, I didn't buy a ton of it). The stuff they sell behind the counter is a reformulation....it's different. ## Actually, Janet, those are the ingredients in the new formulation. The original Actifed contained Pseudoephedrine and Tripolodine. Ref: The new formulation [NDC 27854-119] con...

can i no why cold act tablet banned from India. Please let me know ## Hello, I'm not sure if the information I'm finding is referring to a specific country or if it's just in general. But from what I could gather, over the counter sales of cold tablets which use the methamphetamine precursors "ephedrine and pseudoephedrine" are said to be banned soon under a new parliament. Although they are effective cold remedies, the reason behind the ban is that these ingredients are used for the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine; and when the bill becomes law the tablets which use them will then be available by prescription-only. Perhaps there may be other underlying reasons behind this ban in India, but you would have to confirm this with your local pharmacy for more detai...

I learn from reliable quarters that renerve and renerveplus tabs / capsules are banned in India. Is it true? Our local pharmacy refuses to supply this as the legal process to get the ban removed may take months, if at all. They instead suggest Biocobal plus tabs. Are these reliable and preferable? ## On the ban, I'm sorry, but since it is in India, I know nothing about that. Biocobal contains the active ingredients: 50mgs Calcium, 1mg Mecobalamin, 45mgs Nicotinamide, 3mgs Pyridoxone and 10mgs of Thiamine. This is a B complex vitamin supplement. In India it is commonly given to treat nerve pain, anemia and deficiencies. It does not contain as many nutrients as Renerve or Renerve Plus. Have you spoken to a doctor about what you should use? ## I dont think Renerve is banned in India......

I want to know more about the conditions of the ban ## I was recently given baralgin-m by my doctor for severe menstrual cramps. I found out later it was banned, why? ## I would like to know which over the counter pain medication I can be take instead of garalgin pain medication? ## It was killing competitors in the US, the best analgesic and antispasmodic. It was a product of hoechst germany, manufacturers of good quality products. ## I have used Baralgin in the 1960s when practicing abroad, superb antispasmodic/ analgesic for any kind of visceral colic, cheap too, not addictive, a Hoechst rep told years ago that they did not seek FDA approval as it was not a money spinner, I believe the drug had rare but significant side effects

I am using Pioz MF G2 to control my Blood sugar since two years. Blood sugar level is well controlled. Recently when I tried to find this medicine from market, I am told this is banned due to some chances of stomach cancer. Can any Doctor advise me why it is banned and should I continue the same medicine or not. Regards, Sanjib M. ## Hi Sanjib, Based on my research, the ban on Pioglitazone (Pioz MF G2) in India was actually revoked back in August of 2013. Apparently the reason why it was banned in the first place had to do with the central government's opinion concerning the safety of Pioglitazone, thinking it may have had life-threatening side effects (I believe cancer was one of them). However, after several protests from doctors across the country, I guess they let up on their de...

Moved here 3 Years ago and I intended to keep my ADHD/Moderate Depression-medication therapy. All they have are methylphenidate formulations and Did I ask why not the other amphetamine analogues are legally authorized for medicinal purposes, are banned. No body and no one can give me a logical explanation as to why? Perhaps, you guys can knock some sense into me. So I settled for Ritalin and I adjusted to the regimen and about 2 months ago, the Secretary of health pulled them of the pharmacies. What the he'll is going on?

Hello everyone. I'm from San Diego, CA. I've been on Methadone for 3.5 years now. I'm on 80mg daily. I was on the pill form of Methadone for most of my stay at the clinic. They were METHADONE DISKETTES 40MG, they also had DOLOPHINE 5MG and 10MG. Those worked amazing for me, they actually weren't even generic, those are Brand name Methadone. So over 6 months ago, they banned the tablets and forced every patient who were on tablets to liquid Methadone. Ever since the switch, I've been depressed and most of the time I don't even want to leave the house. I was the complete opposite on tablets. Happy, wanting to do anything and everything, etc. So it's definitely impacting my life, negatively. I DON'T want to raise my dose, because I know 80mg is my stable dos...

I am a patient of RA for last 3 yrs and used to take Folitrax (7.5 mg per week) with HCQS (200 mg daily) along with Folvite (Folic acid). Recently (mid April to mid July 2009), I had a bout of fever associated with absolutely no other symptoms ( frequency 2 to 3 times a day peaking upto 102 F, when I had to take a paracetamol of 650 mg) . Detailed investigation (blood, USG of abdomen, CTscan of chest and abdomen, FNAC from liver) yielded nothing except presence of a few micro abcesses in the liver. The fever went off when the drugs I was being administered during the period of investigation were withdrawn (mid July 2009). Incidentally, RA drugs were stopped by the doctors in mid May 2009, in the initial stage of investigation. I am now (from mid July 2009) off the RA drugs as well as al...
