My neuro is putting me on ampyra, and I am excited about this. My biggest MS problem is lack of balance. Anyone seen a difference with balance issues on ampyra or its compouding equivalent? ## Ampyra contains the active ingredient Dalfampridine, it has been proven effective at managing some MS symptoms. This is a very new medication, but we have a few posts on it from people who have been using it, perhaps someone there has posted more information, most have said they've gotten good results from it. Does anyone else have experience using this? ## Hi Callie. I have been on ampyra for about a week and a half. I still cant decide if i see a difference yet. I did notice that my bladder issues have been a little better and i seem 2 be a little steadier. Balance is my main issue too,so i ...

I suffer from major depression disorder and cymbalta 60 mg was not enough to take care of it. Then my doctor prescribe me resperidone 2 mg as a Add on treatment. Then she increased the reperidone it to 4 mg then week later took me of the resperidone and switch me to seroquel 200 mg then she switched the dose to 300 mg but when she sent the prescription to the pharmacy she sent the seroquel XR 300 mg. I made a mistake for the first week I was on seroquel I took both seroquel and resperidone together which seem to work but when worked better then when I took together. I suffer from insomnia so I wake up a bunch of times through the night. So when I stop taking resperidone and got up in the middle of the night my balance was extremely bad like if I drunk. So I tried taking resperidone agai...

I have been taking cyproheptadine and dexamethasone for more than 15 years. I want to stop these drugs now but I am not finding it easy and I am very much dehydrated - please can I still get my normal self back?. I need an urgent reply. ## Hello, Julian! How are you? After having taken them for such a long period of time, you will most likely need to do a slow taper and getting medical assistance with it would be best. As listed by the FDA, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea, acne, edema, weight changes, diarrhea and dizziness. What types of symptoms are you having that make you think you're dehydrated?

I have taken eltroxin for many years. In May of 2010, my doctor changed my meds to synthroid. since early June, I have experienced vision problems with blurring, double vision, broken lines, etc. One optometrist i saw said he thought it was systemic and noted that thyroid problems are notorious for causing vision problems. i had my blood work done and numbers were realy high(75) so my doctor increased the synthroid meds to .125mg . I have dizziness and poor balance especially when changing planes,i.e. from sitting to standing. i can't trust my ability to walk alone across any empty space, mall hallway, etc.I had also experienced nausea ,always in the forenoon. my doctor thinks it is not the synthroid but the thyroid numbers being so high. Could this be the synthroid? ## I am having the s...

Quanterra Emotional Balance St. John's Wort, Hypericum perforatum

Hypericum perforatum, known as perforate St John's-wort,[1] is a flowering plant in the family Hypericaceae and the type species of the genus Hypericum. Possibly a hybrid between H. maculatum and H. attenuatum, the species can be found across temperate areas of Eurasia and has been introduced as an invasive weed to much of North and South America, as well as South Africa and Australia. While the species is harmful to livestock and can interfere with prescription drugs, it has ...

my body doesn't produce estrogen, resulting in ovarian failure at a young age. i now have to take estrogen (birth control) daily for the rest of my life. i recently went to my doctor and he was concerned that i still have acne, ran a bunch of blood tests, and perscribed me dexamethasone. he said one of my hormone levels is high and this drug should balance it. i've been reading about it and i don't see a connection, only pretty disturbing side effects. i realize i am in an extremely rare situation, but does anyone know anything about this drug that may help me? has anyone had any experience with it? i don't feel comfortable taking it just yet.

Hi, im 37 yrs old. Using diane 35 for first time. Have been using safe days before. Using diane 35 mainly to help with hormonal imbalace. Took it on day one of my period and had brown spotting on day 21. Im into the 3rd day of the 7 day break and still very very light spotting with mild period like symptoms. Is this normal? Cld this be my menstruation? Please advise. Thankyou. ## Yes, that can be normal, when you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives, as reported by the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. It usually takes about 3 months, or so, for your body to get used to the hormones in them and for things to balance out, however, if it doesn't improve after that time period, you should consult your doctor as this may not be the...

painful very heavy legs,,can't stand for more than 5 minutes, walk for less than 10 minutes, and ballance problems. ## It is very difficult to narrow down what may be causing your problem just from the limited information in an online post. Such symptoms can be caused by many different medical issues and to discern which one, your entire medical history needs to be taken into account, as well as any medications you may be taking. Have you discussed the problem with a doctor, yet? It could be from an injury, chronic fatigue syndrome: or Hyponatremia: or Hypokalemia: or dehydration or any one of a large number of others.

I've been taking Synthroid 112 mcg for six months following a total thyroidectomy and I experience confusion, hard time concentrating, night sweats, problems walking (like a drunken sailor), general "spaced out" feeling, and awful depression. I think the dose is wrong, but doctor just looks at TSH numbers (last TSH was 2..53 and T4 was 1.6) and says everything is OK. It is not! I don't know what to do... ## Don't let any dr tell you what your body needs - figure it out yourself. I have had a thyroid condition since i was 8 years old (going on 42) and over the years many dr's have given their opinions about what to do, try this or that and come back in 6 months! Find a thyroid medication and try them out as well as the dosage. If you feel sick, well then stop and ...

I am having problems with my balance. When I had this problem 3 - 4 years ago my doctor prescribe a med called Novo-betahistine 16 mg. I have been very tired for a few weeks and I have problems walking straight. I have a few of these meds left can I take one and see if it will help me? ## Hello, Lynn! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the vertigo problem that you're having. If it is several years old, then the medication is most likely no longer effective. Additionally, vertigo can be caused by an infection of the inner ear, so you need to have it checked out and get a prescription for the appropriate medication. You may need an antibiotic. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was just given a prescription for gabapentin 300mg 90 minutes before bedtime. Can increase 300mg every night to a max of 1200. This increase is weekly. I have symptoms of restless leg syndrome but my problem is much more than RLS. I have heavy legs and problems with balance. I was on Requip with some help to the symptoms but developed compulsive gambling problem. Is anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice for me as to what to expect. I have had this problem for over 5 years. It started with just kinda stubbing your toe as I walked and progressed to turing to walk a certain direction and my upper body moved but my legs did not follow. Things like stepping up on a curb became something to think about and prepare for before I attempted it. My legs and ankles tire easily. Th...

Is there such a thing as pills for balance disorders? I need help! ## There are definitely meds for just about any condition; But it's a matter of narrowing down what specific condition you are experiencing. For example, dizziness or trouble balancing can be anything from Vertigo to perhaps a back which needs adjusting. Actually there was one time where I would feel dizzy every time I got out of bed - I went and got my back adjusted at the chiropractor and was fine after that. So my advice is to get a professional diagnosis from a doctor because in order to get the proper treatment the specific condition needs to be narrowed down. Hope this helps. Good luck! ## Thank you Angie. I have had a diffused axonal brain injury for the past 26 years & I'm not improving. I'm so gr...

I am on a lot of meds for depression/anxiety. My p-doc started me on Wellbutrin, but all of a sudden, I couldn't walk straight, veered into walls, etc. and fell often. I'm in my upper 70s. My husband insisted this effect started with the Wellbutrin, and convinced my doctor that I have to taper off. Low and behold, about 2 days after stopping, the symptoms disappeared. Has anyone else experienced such a side effect from anything? ## I guess what I'm trying to find out is if anyone has experienced unsteady gait when walking while taking wellbutrin? By unsteady, I mean swerving into walls, balance issues and falling down with no warning, and crashing into furniture. I suffered from these symptoms until I came off the wellbutrin. ## I am very sorry about what you've had to d...

Has anyone had this problem? I had been on adderall for a couple of month and then was taken off of adderall and put on vyvanse. Since then, I have notice my pH vaginal balance is off. Can anyone tell me, if this is a side effect? This is affecting me and my partner. ## Samantha, I think I'm having the same issue. I struggle to keep my vaginal pH balanced. I see that noone's responded here. If you find out something, please post... and I'll do the same. Thanks. ## I have been having the same problem since I stated taking vyvanse approximately six months ago. I am on my fifth or sixth antibiotic for it and also take probiotics. It is affecting my relationship with my husband as well. Im thinking of going off of vyvanse but it really helps me with ADHD like no other stimulant ...
