Hi. I have had an abcess and/or what seems to be and it was just starting so I began the generic Bactrim Ds 800 tabs and Cream & they do not help it. Pill imprint H 49 has been identified as Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim 800 mg / 160 mg, is this the same as the pill IP 272? I ask because I have been using the IP 272 pill for 7 years, and my pharmacy just filled it with the H 49 version. Same strength? same drug? Please advise ## Yes, they both contain the same medications in the same dosages. It is completely normal for your pharmacy to switch which manufacturers product they have on hand, depending on who was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. I have swelling in my face on one side and feel like my ears are sounding like I'm in a tunnel and in pain. I have 10 pills. It says take twice a day. Also prescribed 5mg oxycodone tabs for pain. First day I felt fine after taking the Bratrim ds generic and the pain pills helped my pain. The second day i woke with a little more swelling and a headache and feeling a little nausea. I have been taking Bactrim ds from a local pharmacy, generic manufactured in US for 14 days, no problems. Just refilled rx last night from CVS, pills are from Aurobindo Pharma. After first dose of new rx I am soooo sick, vertigo, headache, diarrhea. I had a problem a few years ago with same manufacturer (difererent med). Anyone else with Bactrim ds vertigo? ## Hello, Pkeye! White ip 272 ## This is generic sulfa 800mg, and trimeth 160mg., generic for Bactrim DS. It is an antibiotic used for many infections, most commonly bladder infectsion, sinus infections. Side effects include stomach upset, diarrhea, headache.

My doctor renewed my Rx but it is oval and bigger and says 800-160. I am an 80 year old female in good health with no medications until a recent bout with Urinary Tract Infection. I tolerated the pills for a few days week but the symptoms got so severe I stopped taking them. I took 15 out of 20. I was constipated for the first four days and had stomach discomfort with lots of gas and bloating. The last couple of days my legs hurt bad from my groin to my knees and the bloating and gas got worse even after regular bowel movements. I felt so bad I stayed in bed most of the day. I was prescribed sulfamethoazole-TMP DS T. It went to different pharmacy than I usually use and the price exceptionally for a sulfa-base drug.
