Today is my second day on Doxycycline and I am currently going back and forth to urinate. And the burning is outrageous. ## Hello, Renea! How are you? The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't experience any worsening of your symptoms after taking it for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after being on it for a full 3 days. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. I've taken Elmiron since 2012. Honestly, I found that I had bacterial infections that were not found by a normal lab. I used PathOGenius, in Lubbock TX. Molecular testing is the only way to identify these Biofilms. If you have a toe fungus, a sore, a upper respiratory infection that just wont go away, get in touch with PathOGenius or Granger Labs. My urine was sent to them and it took around 3 weeks to get all results back. Believe me, I am so much better! I was house bound before. ## I'm interested in your case. I have cough and runny nose sneezing..an groggy feeling..I am coughing up an blowing green yellowish mucus..wanted to know if penicillin vk is good for infection? ## Hello, Patrick! How are you? I'm sorry that you're ill. Yes, it is an antibiotic that can be used to treat many types of bacterial infections. However, you shouldn't take it, unless your doctor has verified the presence of an infection and prescribed it for you. It might not be the right antibiotic to treat your infection, or you may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection and both scenarios create the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I use mupirocin and triamcinolone to effectively treat a bacterial skin infection ? ## What type of bacterial skin infection? Has it been confirmed by your doctor? Topical ointments are really only going to help with a topical infection, that would be one that's just on the very first layer of skin. Anything deeper than that is going to require a systemic antibiotic to eradicate, which means either taking it orally or by IV.

i was recently prescribed bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for an infected burn. on the second day, i woke up with a really sore throat. by night, i had a fever, and the next morning, i had a sinus infection--which i used to get chronically from about 11 years ago, up until 4 years ago, in which time ive only had one. a day later i had a productive cough, semi bad but nowhere near as bad as the bronchitus the sinus infections would, after months, eventually turn into. those infectionswere clearly bacterial as whenever I did end up taking antibiotics, they always ended within a few days. I tried to ride them through to defer antibiotic resistance and such, and i cant rememeber if i ever did, because they WOULDNT go away. regardless, i went back to the dr this time after gettin...

I have a really bad toothache that I think is abscessed. Will Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) help treat the infection? ## Can Bactrim be used for a Tooth Infection? While Bactrim is effective against a range of bacterial infections, it is not typically the first-line antibiotic for treating tooth infections, which are often caused by anaerobic bacteria found in the oral cavity. These infections usually respond better to antibiotics that are specifically effective against the types of bacteria found in dental abscesses, such as penicillin, amoxicillin, or clindamycin, which are more traditionally prescribed by dentists. However, in cases where a patient cannot tolerate these first-line antibiotics or if the infection is caused by a bacteria that is known to be susceptible to...

I was prescribed this 4 days ago for a horrible ear infection brought on by a sinus infection, and no relief. I am wondering if it's not bacterial and maybe should be prescribed something different to relieve the pressure and pain? ## Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, the active ingredients in Augmentin, is an antibiotic that is used to treat certain types of infections. However, it can take 5 to 7 days to reach its full effect and will not work as a pain reliever. And, as with any medication, it doesn't always work for everyone that tries it, so if your pain, or infection have not improved, you should contact your doctor. Are there any other questions or comments?
