100+ Topics FoundWhat are the after effecxts of this medicine? How long will they last/ ## The information contained in the link below has listed a number of possible adverse reactions (including abdominal pain) relating to Helidac Therapy, that you may want to have a look at: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/archives/fdaDrugInfo.cfm?archiveid=11128 I don't think there's any possible way of knowing how long your symptoms will last, since these drugs can effect everyone differently. Did you have any of this pain before Helidac Therapy or was it only occurring after the treatment? ## Thanks Dave. The headaches are mostly my concern? I had some while taking the meds. Took that to be expected..but still having them. They are not intense but seem to be kick back type. Still have the original problem wit...
2 REPLIES Filed under Helidac TherapyDoes a small light green tablet with break line for 1/2 a dose imprinted A 214 help treat chronic pain? ## I have been looking for information regarding the connection with ptsd and chronic pain. I have been diagnosed with ptsd from a a car wreck that occured in march of 09. I substained several injuries. To mention four fractured ribs, a fractured collar bone and a possible fractured neck. I understand that I have had time for my injuries to heal but I am still experiencing severe pain, even in parts of my body that werent injured during the wreck. I have been told two totally opposite things about this. One is that I must have a severe/chronic injury such as spinal damage to experience chronic pain with ptsd. The other thing I have been told is that with ptsd you do not have to experi...

Filed under MorphineSevere pain in left leg upper joint only when I stand. This pain is really severe, I am not able to stand any time but I can walk without pain. This only from a month ago. I wish to know the reason for this and what is the remedy? ## No one is going to be able to give you a definitive answer just from a post on the Internet. Your medical history, as well as any medications you are on have to be taken into account. Plus, to get to the root of the problem and provide proper treatment, you will probably need a physical exam and some medical tests performed. What may remedy the situation will depend on what the findings are, after all of that is taken into consideration. From the information you have provided here, anything anyone suggests would be pure guesswork. There are many things that...
2 REPLIES Filed under Pain ReliefI'm new to phoenix and need a docter that will continue to write me the meds I have been prescribed for 4 years oxycodone and zanax dalid ## Due to the new regulations that have been put in place, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see specialists, a general practitioner will not be able to prescribe them for you. For you, that will likely also mean 2 specialist, one for pain management and the other a Psychiatrist for the Xanax. All of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability, constipation and dry mouth. It might be easiest to find yourself a new PCP and have them refer you to someone. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
1 REPLY Filed under OxycodoneDoes anyone know of a doctor in WI that is willing to prescribe narcotics for chronic pain. I am a legitimate pain patient. I had twelve vertebrae fused and suffer from severe chronic pain that significantly impacts even the most simple daily activities. I have taken a large dose of opiates for a substantial amount of time (over 7 years) and metabolize the medication very quickly. My doctor is retiring, and I need to find a doctor with an open mind who is willing to look beyond the ignorant stigma surrounding narcotics and approach my treatment in a non-offensive way rather than immediately assuming that anyone who takes narcotics does so illegitimately. NEED A WI DR. HELP! WILL GO ANYWHERE IN WI. ## In Wisconsin, you actually have an organization called the Alliance of State Pain Initi...

Filed under DiclofenacHello. I have a very terrible pain on my knee for which I am taking zerodol. I want to know if this medicine can treat arthritis or if it's just a painkiller? Is there another medicine you can recommend? ## This medication can only alleviate the symptoms, such as pain and inflammation, there is no actual 'cure' for this condition. Some surgical procedures and therapies can help improve it and prevent it from worsening too fast, but nothing will actually cure it. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and headache, What has your physician advised?

I've had surgery and pain block injections for damage to nerves in my lower spine from a 'spur' - neither helped. Been on painkillers daily for 35 yrs, tried everything and now at best left with 80% pain. Had 100mcg fentanyl patches and their effect lessened so now I'm on 62.5 mcg fentanyl + 3x 300 mg gabapentin + 3x 50 mg tramadol combined daily. Still in agony. Any suggestions to help me please? What is the maximum mcg strength of combined fentanyl patches that can be used together every 72 hours? Thanks.
Filed under GabapentinI have herniated discs in my neck and a traumatic brain injury resulting from combat exposure. I am prescribed and have [for almost 2 years] taken 30 mg of MS Contin 3 times a day for neck pain. Due to reasons too numerous to list I do get headaches which result in sleep loss and incapacitation due to the severity of pain. At first my Dr would prescribe Percocet for the head aches which take a pattern of 3-4 head aches every week for about 3 months of the year. Then he prescribed Morphine IR 30 mg prn before he decided that although the short acting opiates work for the pain and allow me to function through a head ache, prescribing them to me was hazardous (for head aches) and he believed I was "self-medicating" to deal with stress. * to the Dr.'s credit I do suffer from psy...
1 REPLY Filed under PercocetLately, I've been having pain in the coccyx bone after sitting, whether on the bed or a chair. I did not fall down at all. Why is it hurting after sitting for only 25 minutes? ## It is really hard to say, you should see a doctor and let them do a physical exam. Do you sit a lot during the day? If so, that may cause it, since it is not good to be idle too much. It could also be due to your possibly developing arthritis, or some other medical condition, according to NIH reports, but only a doctor can give you a definitive answer. Are you on any medications? The FDA does warn that some can cause these types of issues as a side effect. Do you maintain proper posture when sitting? Soft surfaces, such as beds, are not ideal for sitting on for any long period of time, since you don't g...

I happened to be reading newsletter & noticed this Drug name and realized that this is what my son has been taking for mos. now. Then I begin reading Forum's and was startled by how common side affects seem to be. My son has had what he call's heartburn , upset stomach, stomach pain, he doesn't know quite how to describe. What is even more startling He had his Appendix removed in Feb. They said he had alll symptoms of Appendicitis but, no abnormal blood count which they also said is ...
6 REPLIES Filed under DoxycyclineWhat is the best treatment for diabetic nerve pain other than antidepressants prescribed by the doctors? ## Some people do very well with some anticonvulsant medications, such as Gabapentin and Pregabalin. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight gain. They are also approved to treat certain types of nerve pain, and some mood disorders. What are the patient's normal blood sugar levels?
1 REPLY Filed under GabapentinIs there any chronic pain patients from Kentucky or Ohio that are finding themselves with no treatment and no where to turn for help? I am an advocate for pain patients and patients have contacted me saying how they had just moved to one state or the other and called many doctor offices to only be rejected because they are chronic pain patients already. The doctors offices say they are not accepting new patients or that the office does not treat pain. Can you imagine someone with cancer that has called 258 Dr offices and have been turned away because they take opiate medicine for pain? I was just wondering about how many patients were living in these states with no care or are left to with draw in severe pain with no dignity? Please share your experiences if you can. I feel there can be...
16 REPLIES Filed under SuboxoneI am at the mercy of the medical and insurance systems for any quality of life possible for me after a failed back surgery led to an unstable spine and 57 degree curve scoliosis. I also have spinal stenosis, severe nerve root impingement, hip replacements in both legs after I was misdiagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and placed on steroids that caused spinal and general bone degeneration. I am in severe pain without medication. I wake up every morning in pain and have to take MEDS to begin to function. My former pain management doctor was under- medicating me, and I suffered a fractured hip during this time my doctor refused to increase my MEDS. My primary increased my MEDS and the pain stopped robbing me of my life. I later reduced the MEDS to the lower dose when the fracture healed s...
3 REPLIES Filed under ArthritisI'm wondering what the side effects are when using buprinorphine oral on cats. My 13 +? old rescued male is dealing with a kidney stone plus crystals in his bladder. I have a good understanding of how to treat for the stones/crystals but I'm wondering if there are any side effects that might make him nervous. He's getting 0.3mL by mouth every 12 hours. Any advice or experience would be helpful.thanks ## Hello, Catmama! How are you? The side effects in cats are very similar to those that people may experience, the FDA lists them as including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. And yes, it could also cause nervousness, though that isn't very common. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Filed under Nausea & VomitingMy soul of my feet are very painful and also burning what can I do ## Hello, Lizan! How are you? As listed by the NIH, there are various medical issues that could cause such problems, including some medications and some medical conditions. Do you take any medications regularly? Are you diabetic? Many diabetics experience these types of issues due to peripheral neuropathy.
