The dosage information I found for Azithromycin states that (500 mg) should be taken orally on the first day followed by (250 mg) orally once a day on days 2 through 5 (which adds up to 6 pills in total). I was given three 500mg tablets of azitromicina cinfa written on box is comprimidos recubiertos con pelicula EFG by a dr in Spain 3-4 weeks ago i took them as i was on holiday and had cold cough phlegm etc for two and half weeks and couldn’t get rid of it so went to the dr in spain who perscribed the above tablets. I've had a similar upper respiratory infection before and was prescribed penicillin 500mg to take 2-3 times a day for a week or until the script was all used up. So I guess when it comes to a 3 pack vs a 5 pack, maybe what matters is simply having enough to get through a full week? Have you discussed any of this with your prescribing doctor yet?
