i took the pill at night after dinner and the day after i didn't feel so good i had some stomach problem and i felt like vomit is that a normal reaction ??? should i take 250 instead of the 500 ?? should i keep taking it or stop ??? thanks roy ## Based on my research, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting all appear to be common side effects of Azithromycin. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a697037.html#side-effects To my understanding, most side effects like this won't necessarily go away until you stop taking what's causing them in the first place. However I'd still recommend contacting your doctor first before stopping any medications. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Azithromycin Details I hope this helps!

Hi, i'm 8 weeks pregnant. I went to see a doctor 2 weeks back for an infection. He gave me moxypen-250 but it didn't work, then i just went to the clinic and explained my situation. The sister gave me azithromycin. She said it's safe to use during pregnancy. Is it safe to take 4 tablets at the same time? I don't want to take any risks. Please help. ## The U.S. FDA considers Azithromycin to be safe during pregnancy, so you should follow the dosing instructions you were given. Its typical side effects may possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi I'm 25 weeks pregnant and I took Azithromycin and now I'm so worried it could be dangerous for my unborn baby please help me

Took a dose 1/21/2011. Started getting hives 2/15/2011, and continue to get them weekly. From what I have seen on the internet, I would say I have angioedema. I am on a anti-histamine regimen, with poor results. Is it possible that the ZMAX is causing this? ## Are you still taking the Zmax? It contains an extended release formulation of the antibiotic Azithromycin, it is used to treat infections. It is specially formulated to continue working for 10 days and while a skin rash can be a side effect of antibiotics, it is very unlikely that it is what's causing it, so longer after you've taken it. What has your doctor said is causing it? ## First and only dose 1/21/2011. Pfizer notes on there warnings/cautions that skin reactions were noted in some patients even without further azit...

I’ve been taking Azithromycin for 5 days, for bronchitis, but it’s doing nothing for my cough. I’m up all night coughing. Can I take Mucinex daytime while taking this other medicine? ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it is always best to double check such information. And I agree, bronchitis is annoying, that cough is horrible. I ended up in the ER once with it, a couple years ago, the medication I was given there didn't work, so I had to go to my PCP and take even more medications, before it finally cleared up. Azithromycin can cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash, according to FDA reports. But, if there has been no improvement, at this point, you might need to try a different med...

I am taking bisoprolol 5 mg daily for tachycardia. I now have a lung infection for which I usually take azithromycin and prednisone. How do these pills interact? I desperately need to take the antibiotics, and prednisone, SO i WON'T END UP IN THE HOSPITAL. ## There are no interactions found (in the drug databases I checked in) between Bisoprolol and Azithromycin; however, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist. I did check and find that there "are" interactions between Prednisone and Bisoprolol: Corticosteroids (Prednisone) may antagonize the effects of antihypertensive medications (Bisoprolol) by inducing sodium and fluid retention. Patients on prolonged (i.e., longer than about a week) or high-dose corticosteroid...

Azithromycin or Penicillin which is more expensive and which is more effective in fighting upper respiratory infection ## The price will depend on where you live and which pharmacy you go to. Which is more effective depends on what type of bacteria has caused the infection, and its severity. Which medication has your doctor recommended? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic, and diarrhea.

I want to take Azithromycin orally via the liquid suspension and wondered if I can take it over the span of a couple days and if it will still have the same effect as a full treatment regimen? ## It really depends on the severity of the infection being treated and the recommended dosage to eradicate it. The liquid works just as well as capsules, or tablets, but the dosage is the important issue. The NIH warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash,. How much do you have, what is the dosage and how much have you been told to take?

Thinking I have an abscessed tooth. I have samitrogen on hand purchased in Mexico. Sell by date is Sep 2014. Are these still safe to take? ## Hello Sam! How are you? Unfortunately, I am not sure. Mexico does not regulate their medications like the U.S., so I don't know if that is an expiration date, or if it is still effective for awhile after that. It would be best to see your dentist, so he can prescribe an antibiotic for you, if one is required. Additionally, even after taking an antibiotic, you'll need to have the underlying cause of the infection treated, or it will keep returning. The FDA lists the typical side effects to antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and dehydration. Does anyone know how the expirations work in Mexic...

I have had a reaction to poison ivy going on 3 weeks now. My face has been swelling and I really can't stop itching. I have had a cortisone shot, took prednisone, then they gave me a methylprednisolone dose pack.. I wonder if I need azithromycin? ## That is an antibiotic, so it is not going to do anything to help with an allergic reaction, it will only help treat, or prevent infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Have you tried consulting a dermatologist? That really sounds like a severe allergic reaction.
