Can I take tums antacid while on Augmentin 875-125???? ## Hello, Brandi! How are you? Yes, but you should be careful to take them about 2 hours apart, unless your doctor or pharmacist instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started Augmentin 875 mg yesterday for a sinus infection. I have only taken two tablets, but I woke up this morning itching with a rash. I have read that this is a side effect, but do I continue to take the medication? ## Have you contacted your doctor? Antibiotics can cause a non-allergic skin rash as a side effect, but continuing the medication depends on whether or not it is an allergic reaction, or just that side effect.

I started taking augmentin 875/125. I have a mild rash on my face, neck and back. Should I keep taking it? ## Hello, Happy! How are you? You should have it checked out, this antibiotic can cause a non-allergic skin rash as a side effect, according to FDA reports, but non-allergic is the relevant factor. If it is an allergic rash, you'll need to switch to a different antibiotic. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I only took two of twenty tablets, bloody urine and bloody stools, really screwed up my plateles and lots of boodwork that had always been normal, regarding bloodwork, after four month still new doc trying to cure after effects ## Hello, Tom! How are you? If you only took 2 tablets, then it's not very likely that adverse effects would still be lingering months later. Thus, I really think you may have something else going on that isn't related to this antibiotic. Just because your blood work used to always be normal, doesn't mean that you may not develop a health condition that changes it, so it's no longer normal. What type of doctor are you seeing for this? ## I'm on plavix 75mg and I was wondering if Augmentin 875mg would cause a side affect to my blood thinner tha...

I've had nausea, dizziness, and heartburn for 3 days now after taken Augmentin and drinking several beers this past Saturday evening. How long should I expect these symptoms to last? ## Hello, Chappy! How are you? Those can be normal side effects of this antibiotic, though alcohol can worsen them, so they may continue for the full duration of treatment with it. If your symptoms are severe, or worsen, you should consult your doctor. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include diarrhea, headache and non-allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started Augmentin 875-125 on Friday, today is Monday. The day before, Sunday, my chin/jaw was very itchy. It was a deep itch and not a surface itch. Last night before I went to bed, I noticed that my lower lip felt/looked a little swollen and also saw that I had several little blister type spots under my lip and down to mid-chin. I am a "zit picker", so I just gently popped them it seemed there was alot of liquid in them for how tiny they were. Now this morning, Monday, I still felt that little swollen feeling on my lower lip and figured it was from the popping of these tiny blisters the night before. When I looked at my face, I saw that there were around triple of the amount of these tiny blisters than there were last night and they were more spread out. Again, I gently poppe...

Then I had diarrhea with blood. I was so scared. I called my physician in the am to tell her what happened but by that time it had cleared up. She had one other patient this happened to after one dose. Has anyone else had this happen?pxhxu ## Not with that particular antibiotic, but I did have very strange reactions to a different one and it is possible with most, if you are sensitive to them. BEFORE STARTING ONE OF MY KIDS WHO IS 13 YRS OLD ON AMOXICLAV K 875-125MG AUGMENTIN TWICE DAILY, MY CONCERN IS BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME DOSAGE THE DOCTOR GIVES MY 19 YR OLD AND WITH MY 13 YR OLD IT HAS USUALLY BEEN 500MG AUGMENTIN ONCE DAILY!! NOW THE DOCTOR WANTS MY 13 YR OLD ON THE SAME DOSAGE AS MY 19 YR OLD USUALLY TAKES WHEN SICK!! DOES DOSAGE CHANGE WITH AGE AND IS THIS A SAFE DOSE FOR MY 13 YR OLD TO BE TAKING??!! ## Augmentin is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections and the dosage for this class of medications isn't figured by age or body mass, it is actually figured by the type and severity of the infection being treated. As long as it is used as directed by the doctor, he should be fine, but a higher dose may cause him to experience more side effects, such ...

If Augmentin is scored, is it possible to split the pill in two? I am not trying to save on costs. ## Augmentin contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections and yes, it is not time released, so the pills may be cut, or broken, if needed. You can do so, with any tablet that is not time released, unless your doctor, or pharmacist, has specifically instructed you not to do so. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello, I am currently taking Augmentin in the formulation 850/125. The full dose is too strong for me and I am wondering if I can cut these in half without losing any of the medication strength? ## Hi Tony, Usually if there is a score line (divid) embedded into the tablet, it means the manufacturer purposely made it so patients could easily cut it in half. However, you may still be able to safely cut the pill in half if the drug itself is not in extended-release form. It is my own understanding that some extended-release pills loose their time sustaining properties if cut in half, depending on whether or not it is a capsule or a tablet; but please correct me if I'm wrong on that. Also, if you consistently feel the need to use half a dose, it may be wise to talk with your doctor about getting a lower dose of the medication. The drug itself shouldn...

I have diverticulitis. I am afraid of all the side effects of augmentin. After 3 days of liquid diet my pain persists. How many days should I be on 875? Extremely fearful of all the side effects listed. ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? Side effects are just possibilities, not everyone experiences them, some don't experience any of them. The FDA lists the typical ones for antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea…. which are pretty mild in comparison to an infection that could rage out of control and kill you. How long has your doctor instructed you to take it? You should complete the full course of treatment, as prescribed. ## Can my 12yr. Old daughter take augmentin875-125 mg tablets for strep throat

Can augmentin be taken before a dentist visit to clean the teeth? What would the dosage be if you have 875-125 MG tab? ## Hello, Bert! How are you? If an antibiotic is required, it's usually just plain Amoxicillin. Have you checked with your doctor or dentist? The dose is also usually right around 1,000mgs or so taken just before you go in for the procedure.

I have a tooth infection and was given Augmentin and the doctor knows I'm allergic to penicillin. I know there is some forms of penicillin you can take if allergic, would this be one of them? ## There is no Penicillin in this antibiotic, the FDA lists it as containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid and its most common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Now, that isn't to say that you may not find other medications that you are also allergic to, but the only way to find out is by trying them. Is there anything else I can help with?

My 12 month old niece may have swallowed one of my grandmother's antibiotic pills. My sister and grandmother are both enroute the the emergency room with her, but we would like to know if this is severely harmful to her. ## What happened, when they arrived at this hospital? Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid is a generic for Augmentin, as you stated is an antibiotic. It is also used in children, but the dosage is usually lower, because it is based on their age and weight. It's most likely that the ER would keep an eye on a child this age, for awhile, to watch out for any possible symptoms of toxicity, such as nausea or extreme drowsiness, as well as watching for signs of an allergic reaction.
