I've been on 1mg Ativan for at least 15 years that I take at night before bed. I tried to quit a couple of years ago and ended up in the doctors office 2 days later only to learn I can't just stop taking it. I'm just thankful I didn't take 3 a day as prescribed. What is the best way to stop taking this medication? ## Check out the Ashton manual. Unfortunately benzodiazepines surprise patients with how difficult they can be to withdraw and most prescribers don't give informed consent. Just wondering the best way to taper off Ativan. I have been on Ativan for 3weeks now, was put on for anxiety 1mg. 4x a day. My doctor told me to take this much for a week and then taper to 1mg 3x a day the next week and that is when I would see him again. Well I did what he told me to do and the first week it really helped me and then I cut it down to 3 a day but by the 3rd day of tapering down to 3 A day I started feeling a little shaky and a bit Anxious. I saw my doctor 2days after this and was really quite emotional. He stated he was hoping that this would take care of my anxiety and that I could start tapering but it did not look like that was going to happen. Jan 1st, I had a severe drug reaction in Las Vegas, had to go to the ER. The ER doc gave me Ativan IV. Then he sent me home on Ativan 1 mg, I was wondering when the pain would stop, also taking Cymbalta, Celexa, Darvocet, Tramadol, I started taking a half of Ativan 1mg a day, Ativan 1 mg before bedtime with my Cymbalta and I have been sleeping like a baby. It has controlled all my back pain and nerve pain down both legs and in both knee's. I am feeling good enought to take on the world. Try the Ativan with Cymbalta. I am a 66year old man & a patient of atrial fibrillation . I am taking Lanoxin .25 one tablet each day for 5days a week . My doctor has suggested to take Ativan 1mg for 10days and then on S.O.S basis. Please suggest whether I can take Ativan1mg as and when needed and not on a regular blasis. I am also a diabetic patient and taking regularly Obimet GX1 one tablet twice daily. My weight is 65kg and BP-130/80 and fasting sugar 124.

i have recently been prescribed ativan which seems to help some,but i am wondering if xanax would work better ## they are roughly equivalent, but Xanax hits the nervous system faster, and gets out of you system faster. Both good for panic, crappy for sleep, wouldn't use either for persistant symptoms of anxiety. ## Just to add some further information.... My psychiatrist prescribed me 1mg of Ativan as well as 2 mg of Risperdal. Everything that I've read says you shouldnt take them together. I took my Risperdal about an hour ago but I'm having panic attacks. is it safe to take the ativan? ## I took those 2 medications together for about 8 months and never had any problems. I was also taking Lamictal and Lexapro at the same time. You only need a half a milligram of it to equal each 1mg of the Ativan. My doctor had upped my meds from 1mg of Ativan to suppose to be 5mg it is round yellow pill I think there might of been a mistake. Thank you ## Yes, I do believe some mistake has occured. Ativan, which contains the active ingredient Lorazepam is not available in a 5mg dosage. The tablets are only available in 0.5mgs, 1mg and 2mgs. There is a round, off-white tablet in the 0.5mg dosage, that has an M on one side and the numbers 321 on the other. A 2mg tablet that is slightly off-white with an R over 774 on one side. Another off-white 2mg has the marking of MP over 96. Do any of these match the markings on the tablet you have? If not, please post back with the markings and I can look it up for you, so see what it contains.

I was proscribed klonapin about a year ago i took it for about 3 weeks i stopped because it made me depressed. then a summer passed i got it again with celexa the same thing happened again i stoppped taking it. i was put on xanax 1mg i started on .25 but ended up 1mg 3 times a day. this did not wokr the anxiety was still there and i was more aggiteated and stressed then usualy they made me calm but nothing. after i went back to my dr he put me on valium i took 2 5mg one day the next i tried 10mg the day after 20mg split up into the morning and the night, but the valium had absolutly no effect one me i did not feel anything like i hadnt even taken them. my anxiety is very severe to the point were i am stressed i have migrains 5 days out of the week every day, my hands shake alot and they...

I have been taking Alprax0.50mg for the past ten years OD. But now i am not having deep sleep as i am a spondyloarthropathy patient. As per our Doctor advice i am taking Zolpeace 5mg OD along with Alprax0.50mg. But there is no effect. Along with these two tablets i am also taking Ativan 1mg OD. In later stages as the time progresses you need to increase the dosage of these drugs to get the same effects. Help is this real or fake? I do not trust the shipper? ## There are such things as 1mg Ativan. I was given a script after a recent trip to the hospital 1mg (Ativan or Loreazapine). Small and white and thinner then the 2mgs I do not remember the exact markings though. ## Are there any markings on the tablet in question? Can you please post back and clarify? As for the Kolonapin, valium and ativan. Over the past 4 years, ive used all three. First was valium 10mg tid. It help some with the anxiety but not enuf. It also helped a bit as a muscle relaxer. But my then dr changed me to ativan 1mg, tho he was against it. I changed dr's in sept 2013 who is a general prac, but also a pain mgmt dr. He didnt like the ativan either, mostly cuz I was getting 150 pillz a month so he recently ( dec 2013) switched me to kolonapin 1mg four times daily. I havent noticed major difference between them but so far the kolonapin is working best. As for pain, they only increase meds and dosage. Started with vicodin 5, 7.5 & 10mgs. Then old dr switched me to methodone 10mg 3x daily which didnt work at all, hence reason for changing drs. We looked at my inju...

I have chronic back pain and have taken norco10 and 2mg ativan 4 x' s daily. I have new dr. Told me to cut ativan in half each mo from 8mg to 2. Now taking 1 mg ativan and 50 mg amityptoline before bed after severe aniety, panic, ecscuciating muscle stiffness and pain and headache, nausia. I have been taking pain and benzo' s for years. I have in bed for 3 days now. I also have torn ligaments in ankle and skipped pt today feeling too badly. If I stay on 1mg for 2 wks then go to half for 2 wks then zero but continue with amitryptoline to help pain, anxiety, insomnia and depression. My doctor prescribed tramadol hcl 50 mg for pain in my joints, muscle and back. I also take 1mg Ativan twice a day. Should I have any concerns? I am now age 71 with a 6-year-old heart transplant.
