Dear all Medical Practioners in this Forum. I am having a mild Hypertension with 130/90 at the most. I had been prescribed by the Doctor with Atenolol 50mg/day and Nifidepine 3x daily. I did read before that Atenolol tend to give you a Psoarasis and this had appeared on me somewhere at my right leg. Can I change this prescription later? Please advise me as to what are the best remedial actions to be taken before things get out of control. Thank You. ## Sorry, there are no medical practitioners on this site. Can a 25mg Atenolol tablet be scored? ## Are you asking if it's safe to cut in half? If so, then yes, as long as your doctor or pharmacist haven't instructed you otherwise and it isn't a time released tablet. My sensitivity to medications often makes me cut tablets, that aren't scored for cutting, so I can take a lower dose. My doctor just approves it first. ## Can you take 6mg of Atenolol to prevent or block an adrenal rush? The adrenaline causes me to awaken between 2-4 a.m. ## My mother is prescribed one 100 mg tablet of atenolol a day. The pharmacy gave her two 50 mg tablets per day and on the bottle it said it was the same, but her blood pressure is out of control. Is it the dosage change? Nothing else has changed. ## I accidentally forgot to take my atenolol 100mg ...

Was told by my physician that you give free blood pressure cuffs to those patients that are on your medication. ## Hello, Donald! How are you? I'm sorry, but this website does not manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications. It is an information only website. Is there a manufacturer listed on the bottle?

Can you cut it in half? New to med. Noon dose still has heart rate in low 50s and will soon be time to take again. Last night was unnerving with low heart rate and breathing. I see cardiologist tomorrow for first time. PCP prescribed. I am asking cardiologist to reduce dose tomorrow but worried about tonight. ## It could be that it is too high of a dose for you, since the FDA lists that as being a known side effect of taking too much. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. What did your cardiologist recommend?

white 1_2 oblong ## Sorry, you have not provided enough information. This drug is available in both name brand and generic versions. There are many generic manufacturers and each one of them will make a pill that looks different. There are no rules saying that pills with the same ingredient have to look the same! The size, color, shape and imprint will all vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. The only relevant regulations from the FDA state that they must have unique imprints for identification purposes, but these will even differ by manufacturer and strength of the med. In order to identify your pill for you and tell you what it is, you need to provide the complete imprint from the pill, all letters, numbers and/or symbols that may be on it, as well as the color and shape. For some reason I can only take the 25mg Atenonol from Sandoz, I take it to diminish heart palpitations from MVP, the pharmacy changed the manufacturer to Ateva one time And I began to have palpitations again. So now that Sandoz is on backorder and I cannot get it filled I am going to try Zydus. Can anyone in the pharmaceutical field tell me if it’s the same as Sandoz? Thank you ## Hi Worry17, The only difference between Zydus, Sandoz and other manufacturers is within the list of inactive ingredients, also known as binders/fillers that help make up the pill's composition. In many cases, the quality and quantity of these "so-called inert" substances are subject to an unknown level of scrutiny by the FDA. We don't know how much oversight is involved to monitor where ...

Is Ranbaxy Rx atenolol gluten free ## is the medication atenolol gluten free ## It is not listed on any of the gluten free websites as being safe and gluten free, so while I am not sure about what all ingredients would be considered to be derived from gluten, or have gluten in them, I would have to suggest that it might be safest for you to stick with one from a manufacturer that is known to be gluten free. There is an Atenolol on the market made by Novapharm that is listed as being completely gluten free, so you should check to see if your pharmacy can get that one in for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is atenolol gluten free? My pharmacy cannot get Novapharm Atenolol!

Which is better for Atenolol? Teva or Zydus? Which works better? Which has less side effects? Teva is a smaller pill than Zydus. ## Hello Grammy, Both brands should have the same side effects because Atenolol is the active ingredient and Teva/Zydus are only the brands. Every person reacts to medication uniquely and thus each person is going to have to decide which brand works best for them. Although they share the same active ingredient, often brands will have small differences such as size, inactive ingredients, shape, coating etc. I will provide you with some of these details I sourced from the NIH so you can make a more informed decision on which you would prefer to take. Teva 25mg size: 6mm Inactive ingredients: - Anhydrous Citric Acid - Croscarmellose Sodium - Magnesium Stearate - ...

I've been taking mylan m231 for 10 years. Because of "shortage" i'm now taking zydus z66. Are these two brands exactly the same or should I expect to experience some unagreeable symptoms? I've only been on zydus brand for two days. I'm not at ease with switching brands. The pills are to help maintain blood pressure. How dare a drug company "HOOK" you on a drug for life and then they don't have them available for patients? They are putting people's lives in jeopardy. Patients like me are experiencing more anxiety and have increased blood pressure due to a lack of concern they have shown by not ending this ridiculous situation. I can't understand how mylan has had a shortage for several months and zydus has not. Is zydus using the same ingredien...

I have been taking 25 mg of Atenolol for some time. It seems that since the shortage during the winter, I have had a bad taste in my mouth for some time. I am wondering if anyone else has noted this. It is the only medication I take. One doctor did wonder if any non-active ingredients in the Atenolol now being shipped have changed to create this effect. Has anyone else noticed this? ## KC94, I did a little research and according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information orally administered Atenolol is known to have a bitter taste. Different companies try to mask this by decreasing the solubility of the drug or by removing the interaction of the drug with the taste buds but it will vary from brand to brand and batch to batch. Basically some companies will flavor their drugs or...

Is there any known drug interaction between Atenolol Chlorthalidone 50-25 & Meloxicam 15mg? ## Usually, if someone has high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition that requires a medication such as Atenolol, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory such as Meloxicam is not recommended, since it can raised blood pressure, and cause fluid retention, as side effects, according to FDA reports. 8/17/17 I've been taking 25mg of Atenolol 3xday for Afib, I have it often, have a pacemaker and on pradaxa (blood thinner). Apparently Atenolol is back-ordered all over the country. My cardiologist prescribed Metoprolol, only 25mg 1xday. I'm switching tomorrow and I'm concerned with enough dosage from Metoprolol. I have googled, can't locate equivalent dosage, can you help? ## It is generally better to follow your doctor's instructions as to what dosage you should take. Since these are in the same medication class, the doses are also sometimes the same. The FDA warns that the side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you started taking it, yet? If so, how are you doing?
