My sensitivity to medications often makes me cut tablets, that aren't scored for cutting, so I can take a lower dose. Is 50mg metoprolol succ er equal to 50mg of atenolol? ## Actually, no since they are the same dosage, they are not equivalent. For each 50mgs of Atenolol, you'd need 100mgs of the Metoprolol. I have been on topamax for almost 3 years to prevent migraine. I am in my 50's, and on other medications, including deptran and atenolol. At first my side affects were quite severe, so I had to stay on the initial dose of 25mg at night for a few weeks. The main side effects were - word finding difficulties, dry mouth, taste loss, loss of food cravings, and alcohol intolerance, and some tingling and numbness in feet and hands at times. But my headaches stopped, they had been debilitating for a very long time, so I was going to persevere with the side effects. After about 18months or so, I have had breakthrough headache/migraine, and my weight has gone up. My cravings are back, for food and alcohol. Have taken Atenolol 50 mg. for years then developed nasty cronic cough...Dr. switched me to Losartan 25 mg, is this equivalent? Experiencing sweats today and wondered if this was a lower dose then what I was taking and it is impossible to find comparsion of strength of these medications. My mother is 80 years old with antihypertensive treatment. She take atonolol 50mg, amlodipine 10 mg and losartan 50 mg on morning.and lorsatan 50 mg at the evening. Today she had taken amlodipine 10 mg bd, lorsatan 50 mg bd and atenolol 10 mgbd. Her blood pressure after evening dose was 140/60 mmhg. what problems can occur with her. ## I am 65 female i rske stenolol, losartan and almedopine but sometimes my numbers spike even sfter tsking the dsily dosage . I had high bp since last 3 years i was on atenolol salt. it helped me but since july 2011 it was not effective. then doctor put me on telmisarton & metoprolol succinate i.e TELZY MT 50 i was also suffering from mild lvh and RBBB. AFTER one month my bp became 120-80 and no other comlications and i am still feeling the same bp 120-80 and feeling normal. ther is no swelling of ankles or anywhere else. but on serum test my creatinine level has increased to 123 and e gfr reduced to 55. in july this was 85 and 95. doctor is of opinion that this is because of this medicine. i also take fenofibrate and atorvastatin i od. kindly advise rise in creatinine with in 6-7 months ## Did your doctor suggest any alternative medications or changing the dosages?
