For some reason I can only take the 25mg Atenonol from Sandoz, I take it to diminish heart palpitations from MVP, the pharmacy changed the manufacturer to Ateva one time And I began to have palpitations again. So now that Sandoz is on backorder and I cannot get it filled I am going to try Zydus. Can anyone in the pharmaceutical field tell me if it’s the same as Sandoz? Thank you ## Hi Worry17, The only difference between Zydus, Sandoz and other manufacturers is within the list of inactive ingredients, also known as binders/fillers that help make up the pill's composition. In many cases, the quality and quantity of these "so-called inert" substances are subject to an unknown level of scrutiny by the FDA. We don't know how much oversight is involved to monitor where ...

I would like to know if one can take Trepiline and Aterax in combination ? ## Trepiline contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline, it is a tricyclic antidepressant. Atarax contains the active ingredient Hydroxyzine, it is an antihistamine, used to treat allergic reactions and for its sedating/calming effects. They can be used together, but you should know that using both at the same time can cause additive effects, so you should know to watch for certain signs of possible problems, such as: blurred vision, fever, disorientation and hyperactivity. Were they both prescribed by the same doctor?

I have been taking 25 mg of Atenolol for some time. It seems that since the shortage during the winter, I have had a bad taste in my mouth for some time. I am wondering if anyone else has noted this. It is the only medication I take. One doctor did wonder if any non-active ingredients in the Atenolol now being shipped have changed to create this effect. Has anyone else noticed this? ## KC94, I did a little research and according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information orally administered Atenolol is known to have a bitter taste. Different companies try to mask this by decreasing the solubility of the drug or by removing the interaction of the drug with the taste buds but it will vary from brand to brand and batch to batch. Basically some companies will flavor their drugs or...

If I need to have dental work done (eg: root canal or tooth pulled) do I have to stop taking Atelvia before the work is done? ## Atelvia contains the active ingredient Risedronate and is used to help with bone strengthening, in conditions such as Osteoporosis. As to that, you should check with your dentist. You should always inform them of any medications you are currently taking and they will let you know if there are any concerns regarding the procedures you need to have done. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Yes, you do have to stop taking altevia for an extraction. You have to stop taking it for as long as you were on it. I had to see an oral surgeon, a dentist who called an oral surgeon and two dentists to find the correct answer. I also wrote to five University dental...

Is there any known drug interaction between Atenolol Chlorthalidone 50-25 & Meloxicam 15mg? ## Usually, if someone has high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition that requires a medication such as Atenolol, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory such as Meloxicam is not recommended, since it can raised blood pressure, and cause fluid retention, as side effects, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include increased urination, headache, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

Been taking (NEW) Diltiazem 180 mg 24 hr time release caps as well as tapering atenolol (was 100mg daily) had horrible symptoms so back on 25mg of atenolol with the diltiazem... can they be taken at the same time or should they be spaced a bit? For svt and BP control. ## Hello, Hyperdi! How are you? If your doctor has advised you to stop the Atenolol, then you should follow their instructions for stopping it. I was taking atenolol until the drug company stopped making them, and my doctor gave me metoprolol as a replacement. Is it ok to take metoprolol when i run out of atenolol? My doctor said it's ok, but I just wanted to double check. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. While there are no guarantees, it should be a smooth switch from one to the other. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, both of these medications are still available, at least for the moment. Where did you hear that Atenolol was discontinued? I am not saying you are wrong, because such information can change in an instance, sometimes it takes awhile for any given database to update. What I can t...

I ate something outside my normal place and had loose motions since then. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me some pills. It has diminished the pain and loose motions but still sometimes I have the urgency to go to the toilet and when I go its just little watery stool. This is happening now also. Please recommend me something for this. ## If it isn't severe, then it is most likely just a matter of waiting it out, until whatever has caused the problem clears out of your body and things get back to normal. Sometimes it isn't always necessary to treat something, if you're not showing any signs of being in danger. It may be inconvenient and annoying, but if that's the worst it gets, then letting it go to run its course may be the best thing to do. What did you eat that...

I started taking Chantix two and a half weeks ago. The first three days I had no issues, however when I started taking it twice a day I became very nauseous. I think I have over come that by making sure that I eat something with it (never ate prior to coming to work in the morning and a granola bar seems to help). My biggest concern that is in the past 14 days I have gained ten pounds. I feel like this is bloating and water weight however very concerning to me. I run at least every other day and I have not changed my eating habits. Last night when I came home from my run my left ankle was triple the size. No pain no injury. This morning it was back to normal but now swelling again. I called the doctor and they said my other option is Wellbutrin. I am afraid to make the change and not su...

My husband died 6 days after taking Atenolol prescribed by a well known heart Dr. my husband had copd and we found out later he should never have been prescibed a beta blocker. ## Dear Kathy, Sorry to hear about your husband's passing. My condolences go out to you and your loved ones who are left to cope. Have you sought out the idea of taking legal action? Would there be any way for an attorney to prove that Atenolol was the culprit? I don't know the full situation here but it sounds to me like the prescribing Dr. should feel at least some sense of responsibility to empathize with you and your family. Having that feeling of closure and understanding that your husband is resting in peace is what I would probably deem most important. Although no dollar amount can replace your hus...
