They are both used to help remove excess fluid from the body to treat conditions such as edema, high blood pressure and congestive heart failure, but they work in different ways. Torsemide also often forces potassium out of the body, so when someone's potassium is low or if they don't hold normal levels of it, the Spironolactone might be prescribed instead, since it tends to help the body hold on to potassium. And no, unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so, you shouldn't take both at the same time, because that could create the risk of severe dehydration and kidney damage. I have celiac and started taking spironolactone by amneal pharma, but i am not feeling well on it. Can you tell me if it is gluten free? ## Spironolactone by Amneal (50mg) totally "glutened" me. Amneal told me that it does not contain gluten - but I'm guessing there is some cross contamination or an ingredient from another supplier that has hidden gluten. I went off it and felt better. I tried it again this last week and had the same bad effects identical to when I eat gluten...I am going to ask my Dr. to prescribe another manufacturer and see if I have better luck. ## What brand /manufacturer of spirinolaxtone 100mg tablets is completely gluten free? ## From what I could gather, the inactive ingredients tend to vary from tablet to tablet (and are always subject to change), ...

I heard triamtere was no longer being made. Is this so? I take triamterene 37.5/25. Is this still available? Works well for me. ## It works well for me too. My pharmacist just told me the same thing and I cannot find out why. ## There had been an unexplained shortage of this medication reported to the FDA and it was reported by all current manufacturers. They did estimate that it would start being available, again, by the end of April, but this seems not to have happened. The only thing that I can suggest would be talking to your doctor about using an alternative medication. One that is very similar is Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide: Are there any other questions or comments? ## I have Bi-polar disorder and Major Depressive Disorder - Spironolactone d...

I take Kcl 10 ME to replenish K loss from a water pill. It is costly. Can I get the same replenishment from dietary Kcl such as as is used to replace Nacl? ## Over the counter supplements are only allowed to max out at 99mgs of Potassium, so you may need to take several to keep it up that way. Learn more Potassium details here. We always have trouble keeping mine up, so we actually switched me to a potassium sparing diuretic, Spironolactone. Learn more Spironolactone details here. I cannot find a coupon for Chlorthalid 23mg tab. This is the name as spelled on my prescription bottle. I'm paying Walmart $49.95 for 90 tablets, is there a coupon for this medication. I need an answer so will leave email address ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? No, I'm sorry, but since this a generic medication, there are no coupons or assistance programs available. However, there are other diuretics available that are much cheaper, so it might be best to ask your doctor about prescribing an alternative. Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide are both usually cheaper and treat the same conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with?
