20mg Oxycontin OP doesn't seem to work as well for me. I take it 3 times a day with 15mg oxycodone breakthru. Can anyone suggest a replacement for the 20mg's. Would a 15mg oxycodone and a 5 mg oxycodone work as well. Thanks so much for your help. ## It would be the same dosage, but since those ones are not time released, it would not last as long to relieve your pain, so such a dosage would have to be taken more frequently. Generally the regular formulations have to be taken 3 to 4 times a day, as opposed to the every 12 hours that you take Oxycontin. There have been many complaints regarding the new formulation not being as effective as the original, as well as comments that it caused odd side effects. If you had a problem with it, I suggest reporting them to both Purdue and th...

If you cut in half a new oxycontin OP no matter the doses (10, 20, 30, 40 etc.) does it retain the same time release quality? I am dropping down and want to know if 2.5 is just that, a time released 2.5? A drop from 3 mgs will help with my goal to get to zero, asap. I don't want a sudden flood of oxy hitting my system. This is about detoxing..... ## Hello, Gantlope! How are you? No, it still isn't safe to cut them, you may still get too much of the Oxycodone. If you wish to taper off, it would be best to ask your doctor about prescribing the non-time released tablets, which you can cut. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipati...

There are new-generic 2017 Oxycontin now. My pharmacy filled my script with generic because they thought my Dr. Did not write "no substitution" he did by checking the "no substitution" box so they had to unfill & refill with OP's, not knowing what they are like, I did not want the generic. What do the 80 mg tablets look like? Do they work as well as the OP's? Who is the manufacturer? ## There is no generic Oxycontin currently available on the U.S. market. Generics are only available for the ones that aren't time released. What are the markings on the one the pharmacy provided you with? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. ## ...

Have 80 mg oxycodone but scared to take that much, can I cut in half,? Quarters? ## Hello, Richie! How are you? No, Oxycontin is a time released formulation of Oxycodone and cutting it could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. It should be taken intact. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is 20 mg oxycodone time release or not and how can I tell ## If you're prescribed it, there will be an ER on the bottle, what color is the pill and are there any #'s on it? ## The only time released Oxycodone available in the U.S. is the brand name Oxycontin, which has either an OC or an OP on the tablet and would have a 20 on the other and is pink. If that is not what you have, then you have a regular release formulation that is a generic for Roxicodone. Here's a link to learn more Oxycodone details for anyone that may need it. There is also an instant release, but it is only available in 5mg capsules. What are the markings on the tablet you're asking about?

pink peach round 20 on one side and CR on the other ## oxycodone 20 mg OP ## There have been other posts mentioning a tablet with the CR 20 marking saying that they are supposed to be a time release formulation of Oxycodone, however, I cannot confirm this. The only legal time released formulation of Oxycodone on the current U.S. market is Oxycontin and the 20mg tablet of the new formulation has the marking OP 20 and the original had the marking OC 20, they should be round and light pink in color. PLEASE HELP ME, I am so frustrated. I got a shock last week when I went to pick up my monthly prescribtion of morphine sulfate er 200 mg. I take 3 per day for my pain. I can't seem to find a replacement opiate that is time released the only one I found is oxycontin 60 mg. I get 90 pills every month. The price for the oxycontin is also over $1,000.00. I have been taking 10/325 oxycondone. Today I was prescribed 10 mg OxyContin OP. I am used to getting all 10 mg instantly within 10-20 minutes. When I took one of the OP's I did not get any relief or feel any effects for almost 4-5 hours later. This is unacceptable for me. I would like to get all 10mg at once like when I take my 10/325's, but I'm afraid of overdosing if I take more than my prescribed dose! Can someone please help! ## Hello, Coot! How are you? You can't do so with these. They are time released and the new formulation prevents tampering to release the medication all at once. Have you consulted your doctor? I was just given this med Oxycontin10mg twice a day by my dr for pain but I don't know how long until it starts working. I have Vicodin but I don't really know how much of it I should take to help with the pain. I have only taken one dose of the oxy ## Oxycontin is a time released formulation of Oxycodone and it will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes, after you take it, to start working. Then it is slowly released for approximately 12 hours. As to the Vicodin, you shouldn't take more of that than what your doctor, or pharmacist has instructed. From what my pharmacist told me the OxyContin is a time released medication broken down by stomach acid. I'm also having trouble urinating since starting this medication. My question is what type of medication can I ask my doctor to percribe me that will be able to break down with being on the Pepcid?
