I have taken Serax for anxiety attacks, works great but now insurance will no longer cover that medication. They recommend Xanax which I am highly allergic to, or Buspar which I read is mainly for long term use.I need something when I feel an anxiety attack coming on, not something I have to take all day every day. ## Hello, Sandra! How are you? There are other options, in addition to Xanax and Serax, such as Ativan and Diazepam, both of which work the same way, so you can take them as needed and they are both also available as generics, as well as the name brands. The issue with them, however, is that they do have the potential to be habit forming, which is why many doctors prefer something such as Buspar, which you take daily to keep anxiety under control, but doesn't have that sa...

Anyone have anxiety issues/panic attacks while on this med? I have started with Losartan about 2 weeks ago and have been experiencing anxiety. I take doxepin as an insomnia aid and have had to increase the dosage due to the increased insomnia and anxiety. Do this symptoms level off over time. Losartin seems to be helping my BP. ## Yes, the FDA does report anxiety, panic disorder and insomnia as being common side effects of this medication. You may also experience dizziness, headache and increased urination. Side effects are usually transient and will go away, once your body gets used to medication, but that may take about 4 to 5 weeks. If they worsen, or don't go away after that time frame, you should consult your prescriber. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks. The in...

buspar is amazing ... helps me out with all types of anxiety including panic attacks ... but you have to tell yourself you will be just fine... breath and relax ... I know its scary but if something bad is going to really happen to you ... its going to happn even if you worry ... so why worry? <3 ## Thanks for keeping us posted on how this medication has been working for you! Not many patients post reviews of how they like something and are usually complaining about side effects, so hats off to you on finding something that works! I think your perspective on coping with "panic attacks" is great. If something undesirable is going to happen then there's really no point in trying to get worked up about it; as being in a bad frame of mind may just make the situation worse th...

## PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS DRUG IS MOST COMINLY USED FOR ## See quoted text below: Atarax is an antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of common anxiety and tension and, in combination with other medications, to treat anxiety that results from physical illness. I have pretty bad anxiety with menopause. The hormones are off the wall but no night sweats or any other symptoms. I am on Zoloft and now my OBGYN put me on the Combipatch. I am on it for 2 1/2 weeks and have been doing great and then I got an anxiety attack. Does anyone know why? ## Hi Irene, I use to get panick attacks really bad. My doctor told me it can be caused by anxiety or stress. He put me on Klonopin, which is a benzodiazepine. It's helped me really well. I was also told that regular exercise can help with anxiety and stress. ## P.S. If there's no improvement or it gets worse, speak to your doctor about it. ## Hello, Irene! How are you? I have Post Partem anxiety and have been going to Minnie Jones for several months to see Dr.Ambrose in an attempt to avoid medications. It's not working. The last time I was on any medication that worked for me it was a coupling of Clonidine (Kapvay) and Diazepam as PRN for anxiety attacks. To make a long story short, I was able to completely stop needing medications for a long time. The program that I was in which originally prescribed these medications was shut down for abuse several years ago, and all of their records were destroyed in an "accidental" fire. They continued to prescribe my meds long distance for years before this happened. What I am saying is, I need a doctor who is willing to go with my suggestions as this is my body, but also who will not push me to try new
