Some medication that lists drowsiness as a warning actually keep me awake. Example percocet makes me wired. Will Etodolac act as a stimulant for me? I just got a prescription and I don't want trouble sleeping. ## There's really no foretelling how any medication is going to affect you until you've tried it. Some people get great results with no side effects, while others simply can't make it work for them no matter how many they end up taking. According to MedlinePlus, excessive tiredness and lack of energy are both listed as possible side effects of Etodolac. Whether or not you experience these side effects however, is another story. My suggestion would be to take it early on in the day, so you aren't necessarily burdened with it's effects by the time you want to...

Please would you send me the details on how Urbanol is joined with antihistamines ## Urbanol contains the active ingredient Clobazam, a Benzodiazepine derivative. This is an anticonvulsant, also used to treat some cases of anxiety and depression. The reason it is warned about being used with certain anithistamines is because it can increase the effects of the Urbanol. This can cause more severe side effects and reactions to the drug. To use them together, safely, may require a dosage adjustment of the Urbanol. You can read more here:

I have been taking antihistamines for nasal allergies the past 2 years. Is it normal or abnormal to be using them for so long. ## What has your doctor advised on this situation? There is really no cure for allergies, so when people suffer from them, they may require treatment with something regularly to prevent the problems and symptoms that arise from them. ## I have seen numerous doctors . Each time I tell them of my allergy they prescribe some medicine for immediate relief. One doctor increased my dosage. Due to situation I did continue to take the antihistamines on my own to get relief. I want to lnow if antihistamines are bad for in health longer use like 2 to 3 years. ## Can I take MORPHINE SULPHATE ER & Antihistamines together? I broke my back in 2005 & I have been on Mor...

My doctor has tried me on two different antihistamines now, Loratadine and Cetirizine. Both give me cramps. I have no deficiencies and am in health good. Any ideas anyone? Many thanks. I am in the UK. ## According to the NIH, they have been known to cause leg cramps as a side effect, in some people that take them. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness, and headache. How long did you try each one? Such side effects usually go away, after about 5 to 6 weeks, once your body gets used to a medication. ## I was on Cimetidine for almost two years and Loratidine for three months. Enough time to connect them to leg cramps. The Loratidine also caused me to have very vivid dreams and so I rarely felt refreshed int he mornings! ## I was on Cetirizine about two yea...

Has anyone been or currently prescribed Cetirizine and multiple other allergy-antihistamines at the same time? It helped at first but then I got allergic to 12 other medications in about 1.5 years. Ibuprophen end was the first, then came Dapsone. I was prescribed Cetirizine, Ranitidine, Xolaire, Montelucast, and Diphenhydramine-Benadryl. I now have Montelucast, Doxepin, and Cetirizine added to my allergy list. Can combining Xolair, Ranitidine, and Diphenhydramine cause another allergic reaction or is that just withdrawal or ongoing side effects from stopping cetirizine and doxepin within one week together? Reactions every night now since August 23rd. Sometimes small or just an epi pen or prednisone. Doctor said 'Doxepin is the last and only thing that will help'. I'm allergi...

used for allergies and anxiety ## Hello, D Jane! How are you? There are quite a few other antihistamines available, some via prescription and some over the counter. But many don't help as much for anxiety, but one over the counter option would be Diphenhydramine and another prescription option would be Promethazine. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I had my first Ferinject IV iron infusion a month ago. Had an allergic reaction prior to flushing and had to have antihistamines. It also brought on a hemorrhagic period the next day which lasted heavy for three days. I'm one month on and just started another heavy clotting period. Is this a side effect? ## I have just had a super heavy period, 1 week after a ferinject. The period was on time, but so heavy! ## Many medications can affect your menstrual period, according to NIH studies. This infusion may also cause nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any other medications?

The treatment for a person who is alegetic to sulphite. ## Unfortunately, there is really no treatment, other than using antihistamines to help alleviate the allergic reaction. However, the best solution, as explained by the NIH, is to avoid the allergen triggers, such as anything containing sulfites. How did you discover that you were allergic? Are you allergic to sulfites or just sulfur?

Is histodor cream good for Eczema? ## Both of the active ingredients found in this medication are in a class of medications called antihistamines; which work by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. That said, although Histodor Cream (Diphenhydramine + Mepyramine) may help with some symptoms of Eczema, it may not be the best solution for complete overall treatment. This is because Eczema is not caused by allergies. It is more over due to a hypersensitivity reaction (similar to an allergy) in the skin. The condition tends to get worse when the person is exposed to certain triggers. Most causes of atopic dermatitis (eczema) are treated with medications that are placed directly on the skin or scalp (called topical medicines). A mild cortis...

I'm being taken off of Neurontin/Gabapentin after seven years. I'm now crying, anxious, and itching all over! I have tried antihistamines and cortisone creams but with no relief. ## yes this is normal I went through the same thing. I was on 3600 for eight years. I weaned off very slowly. I started weening off in 2008. I am now down to 400mg and go down about 100 a week. Its so awful ## These types of problems are normal from a sudden withdrawal of any medication that affects brain chemicals, which is exactly what Gabapentin does, since it was initially discovered as an anticonvulsant. Unfortunately, since you were on it for so long, it is probably going to take several weeks for these effects to wear off, though they should gradually improve and lessen in severity. Any complications to people with high blood pressure ## Yes, if yours is high, you should be very careful. Most antihistamines, such as the Phenylephrine in this can raise your blood pressure and heart rate. The elevation is usually minor for most people, but if you have hypertension, then for you it could raise it to dangerous levels. Just as an example, I'm a hypertension patient that had heart failure and when I was in the OR having surgery, the anesthetic caused my heart rate to start dropping dangerously low, but to bring it back up they only had to use a small dose of the Phenylephrine. It kept my life out of danger, but it also made sure I know why my doctor doesn't recommend using it. Learn more Phenylephrine details here. Learn more Chlorpheniramine details here. What h...

I have high blood pressure. Will this medicine make it higher? ## Hi, Sharon! How are you? And yes, it may elevate your blood pressure and heart rate, most antihistamines can do so. Whether or not you can take one will usually depend on how much it can raise it and what your blood pressure readings have been. For instance, I was given permission to take Benadryl and since it works so well for allergies, I've pretty much stuck with it ever since. Learn more Benadryl details here. You may want to ask your doctor about taking it, since it doesn't usually cause as much of an elevation as most others. Do you take any other medications?
