I have some sort of infection on my left elbow. I have been on bactrim for 36 hours and the redness and swelling have went 4 to 6 inches further than it was. How long will bactrim take to decrease the swelling and redness? ## The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking them for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 72 hours, according to NIH reports. Thus, if this is continuing, you should return to your doctor, as you may need to try a different antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects of most antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Has there been any change?

I've been on Adderall since I was a kid and never had an issue in terms of the Teva generics. Like most people I've read about, I don't like the Corepharma at all, but since I moved to the middle of nowhere, I'd have to start getting my 30mg Adderall at Kinney Drugs, which uses this Aurobindo stuff. Went to dentist last Monday for abscessed tooth. Prescribed Augmentin 3 per day. On Thursday, pain was worse. Dentist opened to tooth, put meds in tooth, and prescribed penicillin 4 per day. Also have cellulitis in face from middle of chin/lip up halfway to my jaw on left side. Pain is not as bad as it was before tooth was opened, but still hurts. Lip is beginning to swell. I previously developed cellulitis, which started on my leg, I ended up going to my doctor and he prescribed antibiotics and an ointment and it did go away. That was three years ago. Recently I began feeling that same itch on my leg and figured it was coming back, and sure enough the rash is starting to develop. can i work out or drink alcohol while on this sulfameth medication? i have a rash, so what is the improvement supposed to look like. does the rash just start to disapear? ## I wouldn't suggest drinking alcohol while on this antibiotic. The consumption of alcohol decreases the effectiveness of antibiotics and even a single drink or several drinks of alcohol can inhibit a drug's metabolism by competing with the drug for the same set of metabolizing enzymes. Alcohol reduces production of white blood cells, those that fight against infection, so you are working against the antibiotic by drinking while on it. I noticed a small lump behind my left ear Sunday. ByThursday, it was large, red, and very painful. My earlobe was swollen as well. Then I noticed the tenderness starting down the left side of my neck. I saw my Dr. yesterday and was diagnosed with cellulitis. She gave me Bactrim 800-160 twice daily. I took my two doses yesterday. When I woke this morning, my earlobe looks like it's gonna pop, the lump is no smaller and instead of just tenderness in the neck, there's swelling between the jaw and earlobe.
