what antibiotics are mainly used for wisdom teeth infections ## I'm not too fond of prescription drugs, but I think Cephalexin is one of common interest. It is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. To view information about this drug please click on the link below... Although I personally suggest looking into Clove Essential Oil. It's a natural remedy for dental issues as far as alleviating tooth aches (anaesthetic properties) and fighting infections (antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal properties). Just make sure you don't use a lot of it at once (no more than a 2-4 drops in the desired area, as it is very concentrated and may be toxic in large doses. This generally is not something to worry about as you won't need more than the minimum amount to...

Hello, my son was prescribed Antipyrine-benzocaine war drops in 2/2015. I had it put away sealed tight I poured some in my hand to check for any discoloration and looks clear as the first day we use. He is complaining of ear pain and I was just wondering if I can still use these drops since the expiration date is for 10/2016 which is this month? ## Hello, Tita! How are you? This is not actually an antibiotic, both of the medications it contains are used to alleviate pain and inflammation. If he has an ear infection, he will need an antibiotic, in addition to these drops. The FDA warns that the side effects of such drops may include dizziness, headache, ear stuffiness, and drainage. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been put on 200mg of Cefpodoxime for life. I had an infected TKR (knee replacement) and infection was not stopped. I have had now my third TKR and the doctor has put me on this antibiotic. It has kept the infection away for about a year and a half now but wondering what side effects or concerns I should have. I try to periodically look up anyone that takes antibiotics daily and I can never find anyone. Can I stop at some point? is this bad? The antibiotic does keep the infection away and I don't want another infection again but this still seems extreme. Any thoughts? ## Hello, Anderson! How are you? There are many people who take an antibiotic daily prophylactically. Generally, the only long-term concern is that bacteria may build up resistance to that particular antibiotic, ...

72 year old male, had colon surgery a month ago. now skin itching on the back and legs. ## Hello, Zeke! How are you? Are you on any other medications? If you had to take medications to clean your colon out, before the surgery, there's a chance you're dehydrated and your skin is drying out. I've experienced that myself, when I was in the hospital for congestive heart failure. My skin got so dry and itchy that it was actually peeling off, like a healing sunburn. Have you had it checked out by your doctor? The FDA does list that antibiotics can cause a non-allergic skin rash, as well as an allergic rash, so you should have this looked at.

Hi, I have been in pain for some time now. I went to my dentist a 1 1/2 weeks ago. There is no swelling and no clearly visible reason on the X-rays as to explain why I am in pain. The dentist thinks it could be 1 of 2 teeth that are next to each other but can't be sure. He put me on clindamycin and said if the pain goes away then we know it was a small infection. But if the pain doesn't go away we will have to see what else could be going on. Well, I have been taking the clindamycin for one week today and have 4 more days of pills left but I am still in pain and taking too much ibuprohen. Do you gave any idea what else could be causing my pain? What do you think my dentist will look at when I go back? ## Hello, Dee! How are you? If there's nothing visible and nothing showed ...

I'm taking doxycycline 100mg (2/day for 10 days) to prevent infection from a sting ray encounter in SW Florida's gulf waters. Potential bacterium: Staph', Strep', Vibrio. I've read that recovery from this type of injury is long, slow, and often with set backs. I thought it was looking better after first 5 days, but then the ankle (site of puncture) has gotten more swollen & a bit warm. Ultrasound revealed NO barb. Only drainage was clear and just in first 2 days. Tomorrow is 10th day of antibiotic. Should I start another round or wait & see? I have 2 prosthetic hips - so I need to be careful of infection. Orthopedic doc says to culture drainage, if any happens, and adjust antibiotic to those results. ## Yes, they can be taken that way, if your doctor deems it...

I've been taking low dose 50mg Nitrofurantoin for over a year. My urologist recommended it and my PCP also said I should take it for life. I've had frequent UTI's/year and it's been a problem for more than 10 years. I've been free of UTI's since I went on the low-dose Nitrofurantoin. It's helped me greatly but I've developed some respiratory problems and my Dr. thinks that my long term use of this drug might be the cause of my problems. I would like to find an alternative antibiotic to Nitrofurantoin. Any clue what drug would be equivalent? ## Hello, Tipsy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. According to the information provided by the NIH, the other antibiotics that can be used for prophylaxis of UTIs include Bactrim, Tr...

can i work out or drink alcohol while on this sulfameth medication? i have a rash, so what is the improvement supposed to look like. does the rash just start to disapear? ## I wouldn't suggest drinking alcohol while on this antibiotic. The consumption of alcohol decreases the effectiveness of antibiotics and even a single drink or several drinks of alcohol can inhibit a drug's metabolism by competing with the drug for the same set of metabolizing enzymes. Alcohol reduces production of white blood cells, those that fight against infection, so you are working against the antibiotic by drinking while on it. Furthermore Sulfamethoxazole has contraindications against alcohol, that may potentially cause more serious side effects: "Drinking alcohol while taking sulfamethoxazole may...

can I give my dog Bactrim for what looks like an abscess on her front baby teeth/tooth she is about one and half yrs old and constantly chewing on her ball and other toys. would his be caused by her chewing. just looks like two little bumps on the back of her front baby teeth ## Hi Connie, If you haven't done so already, I would definitely encourage you to get in touch with a veterinarian when it comes to powerful antibiotics of the likes of Bactrim. Hopefully you can take your dog to go see one in person to determine if it is in fact an abscess or not. I've just seen so many negative reports here pertaining to side effects associated with Bactrim in particular that I'm very partial to the idea of it being given to an animal. This isn't to suggest that it's not a via...

how many mg per day for 10 days, each pill is 250mg i have a bad infection from sinusitis ## Hi menab, I'd like to help you find an answer to your question, but can't look up any dosage information without the name of the medication you are referring to. I did pull up a basic link (which you can view below) that has plenty of information regarding the use of antibiotics for sinusitis; including which one's work best, how long they are used, possible side effects, etc: For future reference though, please post as much information as you can about the pill or medication you're wanting to learn more about, so others can be of more help without being left guessing. I know this post is a few months old, but I hope you've recovered 100% by now from that bad sinus infection!

side efect, rash on skin ## MY DAUGHTER WAS GIVEN THIS DRUG FOR AN EAR INFECTION, TO TAKE FOR 10 DAYS. AFTER 5 DAYS HER VAGINIA LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF RAW MEAT AND HER BODY IS COVERED IN A RASH. HER DR. SAYS THE RASH IS NOT FROM THE DRUG BUT IT MAYBE SCARLET FEVER. HOWEVER SHE IS NOW ON A NEW DRUG STILL FIGHTING EAR INFECTION, STREP THROAT, A RAW VAGINIA, AND SUPPOSELY SCARLET FEVER. GGGRRRR ## All antibiotics are dangerous, some more than others. I have had to go on Amoxicillin Clavulanate again for a bladder infection even though I had a very painful reaction both times (severe joint and muscle pain to point of limping and hanging on the furniture to get to the bathroom, pain in ear and Eustachian tube, nausea, fever). Is there anything that works naturally as antibiotic ; such as a leaf or something, in case things get bad!!!! ## Yes frederick there are plenty of natural antibiotics and with a bit of searching you might just find something to supplement your existing diet. Of course i am not saying to stop the meds that a doctor has put you on, but look into a few things like oil of oregano, other probiotics such as yogurt or culturelle supplement, etc. And there are tons of other essential oils with antiseptic properties. Does this help at all?

I've recently discovered Microscopy. My insurance pays for it and it is available, but is likely to prevent disease and complications - so it isn't widely recommended by doctors. Microscopy means that a culture is grown on a petri dish to discover the disease causing bacteria. An antibiotics is then prepared to effectively kill the particular bacteria. This reduces use of antibiotics and helps maintain health and digestion. Some microscopy requires only spitting into a container - which is much easier than the blood tests that look for antibodies or general infections. It doesn't cost much and saves the insurance companies money - because it is less invasive and will protect health.

Sir, iam getting boils mainly in the area of fold of my hand at shoulder joint that develop hairs repeatedly left followed by right vice versa since my teenage. I have used several antibiotics and drugs, even they cured, these are repeating and these are severely painful.
