I suffered 4 puncture wounds to my middle finger from being bitten by a Pit Bull a couple days ago. Since the pit was going after my beagle puppy and I knew the pit would kill him, I slipped my hand under the pit bull's collar. He pulled me onto my back and bit my hand. I was screaming, but still holding onto his collar My black lab, Lucy has never fought but she is very loyal and protective of me. Prior to this incident, the only thing she attacked because she perceived it as a threat to me, was the weed eater. But she jumped the Pit Bull and wasn't about to give up the fight till she knew I was okay. I was at the bottom of this dog pile and had no idea what kind of injuries Lucy was sustaining. Long story short, my left hand has 4 punctures and is very swollen, purplish in col...

Hi? My name is Madie. I have burn marks in my both forearms since 5 yrs ago. I've been treating it ever since. It has healed but on my right forearm I still have an open cut n its oozing puss n time to time it hurts me n it gets swollen. I assume it could be infected. Could this medicine work for me n for how many hours I should take it? Every six hours or every eight hours. I have taken Keflex before for other things. ## Madie, please consult your doctor, if you have an open wound that is causing issues that long after it happened, then you may need some special treatments for it, which could include IV antibiotics. Please help? ## Hello, Lola! How are you? Oh my, please don't use salt, that will very painful for him. With a burst abscess, he does need an antibiotic. And yes, you can give him Servicillin, as long as your veterinarian approves. The dosing is usually 5 to 10mg per pound of weight given 3 to 4 times a day. Side effects in felines, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

can you give to pigs for antobiotics for wounds ## Hi Lisa, IP 272 is reportedly identified as Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS (800mg/160mg). From what I could gather, this antibiotic is not FDA-approved for veterinary use. However I have read about several cases of veterinarians still prescribing Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS for cats and dogs... Pigs on the other hand, I have no idea. But what I would recommend doing is disclosing all of your animal's medication history to the veterinarian in order to better determine whether Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is the most appropriate form of treatment. I hope this helps!

Can I use Gelmicin on fresh road rash wounds? It contains a mixture of betametasona, clotrimazol, gentamicina. I fell off a motorcycle and have bad road rash. So a friend brought Gelmicin Cream from Mexico to put on it and I'm just wondering if it's safe.... ## Hi John, sorry to hear about your spill! The ingredients which you listed for Gelmicin are as follows: 1. Betamethasone, a steroid medication which can help to relieve skin irritation. 2. Clotrimazole, which is an antifungal medicine. 3. Gentamicin, an antibiotic for treating and/or preventing bacterial infections. Are you able to translate the instructions on the packaging? I'd just want to figure out how long it's supposed to be applied for since steroid creams aren't meant for long term use. Am I right in g...

My dad had a brain infection in his temporal and parietal lobes. After trying to treat it with antibiotics, they finally performed surgery and removed the pus manually. About two months after he was released from the hospital, he began having extremely painful neuropathy in his fingers, legs and feet. His fingertips have been splitting, cracking and bleeding, and his legs and feet have had painful rashes and open wounds. He has tried steroid creams for his legs and feet, which help, but for his hands he has been given Gabapentin, Cymbalta and Lyrica, all which cause strange mental behavior...which I would liken to mildly psychotic. They seem to help his pain, but all make him have "the evil inside," which is what he calls it when he has episodic behavior due to these drugs. Can ...

You can view a detailed description of the drug, by clicking on the link below... My doctor put me on Doxycycline for 3 weeks after noticing a bullseye around a bite on my arm. I was outside three days earlier in an area that had tick warnings, so she had a strong suspicion it was Lyme. But the bite actually had two puncture wounds and not the typical bullseye where you see a distinct ring around it. So now I’m thinking it might actually be a spider bite. I’m concerned I might be on antibiotics for no reason. Is it harmful to be on antibiotics for so long if I’m not sick? She did a blood analysis, but said it will most likely come back negative since I just got bit. I was told the blood work won’t show anything for another few weeks, so I could be taking a risk if I stop the antibiotic. Does anyone know if a tick bite would have two punctures?...

## There was an ointment that my mother would use when we would get a cut or blister or anything that might get infected. This was before antibiotics or antibacterial. It was coal black and smelled slightly of tar or sulphur. She would apply the ointment and bandage the cut and leave for a few days. When the bandage was removed the skin would be healed and looked white for awhile but there would be no scarring or discoloration. Do you know what this was and if so is it available today. I would love to have it as I am sensitive to antibiotics. ## Possibly ichthammol? ## An old-fashioned remedy for deep wounds that must heal from the inside out is: Clean wound with hydrogen peroxide.
