Will cephalexin cure pink eye along with erythromycin ointment? The ointment does not seem to be clearing it up so I was wondering if I took cephalexin along with using the ointment if it would help? ## If the ointment isn't helping, you may need to return to your doctor, because not all pink eye is caused by bacteria, there is also a viral form and an allergic form, if you have one of those 2, then antibiotics will not help, according to the NIH. If it is viral, it will eventually clear up on its own, in most cases and if it is allergic, you may need an allergy medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm going back to my dr today for eye drops. Ointment isn't working.

I used this medication on my little girl for pink eye and it really helps but now she has a kind of rash under her eye that comes and goes. It's been like this all day. Is it normal? What should I do? ## This is an antibiotic ointment and most antibiotics, whether used topically or taken orally, can cause a non-allergic skin rash as a side effect. Have you consulted her doctor? In most cases, it will go away, shortly after she finishes the treatment regimen. ## People, this terramicina is for the eyes. I think you're confused with vitacilina that's used for diaper rash. ## Where can I purchase one of these creams? My daughter has had a bad sty for a week and someone told me this cream was golden to help with stys. SOMEONE HELP please!

used for pink eye ## Does anyone know where Argerol can be purchased? My 85-year-old mother has a nasal infection that antibiotics aren't curing. Argerol has helped her in the past, but she ran out recently and her phramacist hasn't been able to order more. This is URGENT. Thanks. Steve ## Last year, I searched all over the country and made inquiry of people overseas.....apparently, Argerol can't be purchased anywhere, even with a prescription. Most of the pharmacists I spoke with, had never even heard of it. I did run across an older, more experienced pharmacist who remembered the drug and said it had been off the market for about 15 years. Sorry :-( ## Yes, Vicki is correct, Algerol was actually Silver Nitrate, which of course was found to be toxic when ingested. ## Funny ...

Eye drops for Pink Eye ## My daughter was prescribed sulfacetamide 10% for her pink eye. She had no eye discharge before she began to use it. She has only been on the meds for one day. Now her eye has a yelow discharge that if left to long will not allow her eye to open. Is this an allergic reaction or has her pink eye turned bacterial? Or should I just be patient and run the course of Antibiotics and then go back if needed. ## In regards to the post from mother of 5, it may have been due to her daughter being sensitive to sulfa, since this a sulfa based medication. Some people are, though they may not have an actual full allergy and it can cause some odd effects to manifest. Learn more Sulfacetamide details here. I have pink eye. Can I use terramicina in my eye as a salve, or just around the eye? ## I think it really depends on whether or not you have the ointment, powder or the eye drops. There should be instructions on the package, no? That's just wrong if there isn't, as from what I can tell it can be used to treat pink eye. Based on information i've gathered, the application guidelines are simple. Listed below are the indications for the ointment: "Broad-spectrum antibiotic ideal for mild bacterial eye infections Easy to use - simply apply ointment directly on the affected area" I'm assuming that the eye drops are no different other than actually dropping it into your eye. Here is an information link to the powdered form of this medication as well (it states: puff pow...

I have a bacterial pink eye infection. can i use this to get rid of it? if so what is the dosage? ## Hi melinda, Pota-Vi-Kin is a foreign brand name of Penicillin. I'm not sure what dosage of it you have there, but pink eye is almost always viral in origin; meaning that antibiotics won't have any effect on it anyways, since they are only good for bacterial infections and not viruses. (So only if you had a really rare pink eye from susceptible bacteria would this be effective). Have you tried any natural remedies or other medications yet?

The FDA lists the typical side effects a possibly including eye redness, burning, irritation, and tearing. Are there any other questions? ## I’m not a Dr. but I know NEVER use an ointment in your eyes unless is a medication OFTALMICO, meaning for eyes only. TERRAMICINA comes in different forms: capsules or tablets and is good for several infections, a medium size tube of cream is for external use on skin and the other form is a very small tube of ointment for eye infection that clealy says ...

I was prescribed the above medication for pink eye. I was wondering if I could use this for an ear infection that is caused by clogging of my ear canal. I have tried using the peroxide treatment to no avail. It is now beginning to hurt and swell. I have also taken some aspirin for the imflamation and was consider getting some over the counter nasal decongestant. ## Have you consulted a doctor? While antibiotics are used to treat infections, they aren't going to solve the origination of the problem, which is the clogging of your ear canal. If it didn't respond to peroxide, then your doctor is going to need to clean the ear out for you to remove the obstruction.

Hi, I got pink eye a week ago and started to use polysporin eye drop for a day, then it got worse and more swollen and more painful. Dr prescribed me tobremycin eye drops, then after 3 days my eye got worse and worse. Tears running non stop and my eye is like a bowl of blood. It is so itchy and painful. I hardly can open my eye. After 5 days my Dr prescribed oral medicine (clindamycin 300mg) 3x daily. I just started last night but there is no change. I am so worried about this issue. He said if it gets worse i have to do some inj. ## The general rule with oral antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects as...

Hi my son is 6 years old and has pink eye. I took him to urgent care because I couldn't get into his normal pediatrician before they closed for the day. He has also been having pain behind one of his ears/kind of on his jaw line. I told the doctor this and he checked his ears saying he did not have an ear infection but that he believes it could be mastoiditis. This concerns me but the doc acted like it isn't a big deal. He prescribed eye drops for pink eye and amoxicillin 250mg/5ml suspect 100ml and told me to give him 17.5ml 2x a day. He only weighs 46 pounds. I feel like this is way too much for his age and weight. Is this amount too much or is it normal for his diagnosis? Please help! ## You should give him the dosage the doctor has prescribed. Can pliva 334 treat pink eye ## Hello, Kevin! How are you? Did your doctor prescribe it to treat this? Conjunctivitis, as listed by the NIH, can sometimes have multiple causes, including viruses, bacteria and allergies, thus proper treatment depends on the cause. An antibiotic will only help if it's bacterial in origin. This is a 500mg Metronidazole tablet, so it is an antibacterial agent and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
