I have some sort of infection on my left elbow. I have been on bactrim for 36 hours and the redness and swelling have went 4 to 6 inches further than it was. How long will bactrim take to decrease the swelling and redness? ## The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking them for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 72 hours, according to NIH reports. Thus, if this is continuing, you should return to your doctor, as you may need to try a different antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects of most antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Has there been any change?

I have a cut on my leg and my Dr gave me Bactrim Ds for Cellulitis infection. Is this the correct med for treating CELLULITIS? ## Hi Marie, Most of the time, Cellulitis treatment involves antibiotics taken by mouth and is later followed-up by your doctor. You could also be given painkillers if necessary. Bactrim is a pretty serious antibiotic, so I think it would be vital to use it over other options when the situation absolutely calls for it. For your own peace of mind though I'd just be sure to educate yourself on the possible side-effects that can come with it. Learn More: Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethopriml Details I hope this helps!

Will it help for itching & used for cellulitis got it on the hand bad thanks for help ## What symptoms are you experiencing? Cellulitis is an infection, not an allergy, so it would require an antibiotic. The pill in question is manufactured by Stat RX and they list it as containing 10mgs of Loratadine, which is an antihistamine that's used to treat allergies. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth.

The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications?

I've been on Adderall since I was a kid and never had an issue in terms of the Teva generics. Like most people I've read about, I don't like the Corepharma at all, but since I moved to the middle of nowhere, I'd have to start getting my 30mg Adderall at Kinney Drugs, which uses this Aurobindo stuff. I am convinced that it's totally causing me some unknown problems. I had a massive foot infection from cellulitis that sent me to the hospital a couple weeks ago. I was on antibiotics etc for 3 days, got over it just fine, and now that I've recently filled it again, I am again noticing my foot inflaming etc, and I've had to start coupling it with what I have left of antibiotics. I have a disfigurement in my feet, called a tarsal coalition, common for people with i...

Following knee replacement surgery I was diagnosed 2 x 100mg Gabapentin. Three times a day. After discharge I had to get a renewed prescription and I have now noticed that the Pharmacist has given me 300mg Gabapentin capsules by mistake. This means I have been on 2 x 300mg Gabapentin Three times a day. Is it a coincidence that three days after being discharged after I started the overdose I have developed cellulitis in the lower leg that had the knee replacement? ## Hello, Paul! How are you? Yes, that most likely is a coincidence, since cellulitis is a type of deep tissue infection. Are you on an antibiotic for it? I have a bad stye on my lower eyelid and it is causing my eye to become red. Can I use Amoxicillin-Clavulanic acid 875mg for my eye? Last time I had this I had periocular cellulitis and I have the same symptoms. I was given Keflex, but I have a prescription for this medication. ## It may help, but you should not take it, unless your medical provider approves, because antibiotics should not be overused. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. Has any testing been done to see what's causing them? I used to get them, while married to my ex-husband, but I haven't gotten one in years. (I said this, so I will likely develop one soon. LOL) Anyway, I never thought to speak to my doctor and have them checked out.

I am a diabetic currently experiencing cellulitis in my legs with possible infection from the open ulcers. This I believe is the cause for recent, severe pain in my right kidney. I am asking can I use my pain pills Hydrocodon-Acetaminophen5-325 safely to combat both the pain and possible infection? ## Hello, Starace! How are you? This medication will only help with pain, there is nothing in it to help combat an infection, for that you need to see your doctor to have an antibiotic prescribed. The FDA classifies Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have cellulittes in left ancle and leg is cephalexin 500 mg what I need ## Hi Flonnie, Based on my research Cephalexin is actually regarded as one of the recommended drugs for treating Cellulitis in it's early stages. From what I could gather, the usual adult dose of Cephalexin (in the treatment of Cellulitis), is 500mgs orally every 6 hours, for up to 7-10 days. Depending on how severe each individual case is, other more powerful antibiotics may also be recommended, such as Vancomycin, Daptomycin, or Linezolid. I hope this helps to answer your question! ## cephalexin 500 mg is a green capsule with the number 219 on it. hope this helps

My brother contracted cellulitis while hospitalized for hernia surgery three months ago. He was recently prescribed Augmentin to take twice a day for thirty days. Is that an unusually long time to take an antibiotic? Are there increased risk factors from taking it that long? ## Hello, Paula! How is you brother doing? No, the risks remain the same as if he were taking it for 7 to 10 days, he runs the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Sometimes, with a particularly bad infection, such as severe cellulitis, it is necessary to take a longer course of antibiotics and he should follow his doctor's instructions. Is there anything else I can help with?
