I've had a gastric bypass 10 years ago and still have not taken an NSAID orally. Presently, I'm having trouble with arthritic knees and have tried ice treatments, elevation, tylenol, turmeric, prescription creams and need something stronger. Can I take a NSAID under my tongue? ## I can't take anti-inflammatories due to stomach issues and was wondering if there are sublingual forms of anti-inflammatories anyone has taken? I had a knee replacement 11 months ago. ## There is a nasal spray of Ketorolac that is available, but it would require a prescription from your doctor. Alternatively, there are sublingual and liquid forms of Ibuprofen available in children's doses. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation. Technically, you coul...

I am about to have a colonoscopy and my doctor advised me not to take any anti-inflammatory drugs. ## I had a colonoscopy done and sow the swilling in the picture taken. I was told that my problem is chronic. The doctor prescribed CANASA 1000 MG. This medication is so expansive that it cost me over $500 for 30 day supply, that is thru insurance. Per my search online, this medication dose not cure ulcerative proctitis but it may decrease the number of stools, the amount of mucus/blood in the stools, and the rectal bleeding caused by irritation/swelling of the colon/rectum. Mesalamine is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug. It is believed to work by blocking the production of certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling. If I can't take any aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs 5 days before a procedure, can I still take hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-325? ## You should be able to take it, unless you have been told not to do so, since it does not contain Aspirin, or any other anti-inflammatory. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. Are you on any other medications? ## I had my second de dimer blood test last week ,it was 5.3 my GP said that 5 or under would have been a better result, I have to go for another de dimer in two weeks, I am currently on Cartia 100mg since three weeks the de dimer at that time was 3. I still say do not to come off Xarelto straight away on to Aspir...

I pulled a muscle on the left side of my lower back and I want to know if I can take an anti-inflammatory medication since I have had a bleeding stomach 2 yrs ago (because I took too many anti-inflammatory meds) before my back surgery. ## Hi Gus, Sorry to hear about your previous experience on anti-inflammatory drugs. Is this NSAID's in particular or does it pertain to natural remedies as well? If you haven't already done so, I would encourage you to investigate certain alternatives such as Turmeric, CBD oil, or maybe even Kratom for pain relief, as I've never heard of any ill effects from those substances in and of themselves... Have you also discussed any of these concerns with a doctor?

I have a severe allergic reaction to aspirin (large hives and feinting). I have arthritis in both of my hands. My doctor gave me Tramadol which is only helping some. Is there at least one antiinflamatory I can take where it won't cross react with my allergy. My allergy to aspirin is as severe as someone allergic to penicillin. ## Hi Sharon, A few other options I would consider, are: Ibuprofen/Motrin/Advil, Diclofenac, or even a natural alternative such as Turmeric (Curcumin); which contains more than two dozen anti-inflammatory compounds. According to an article on NaturalNews.com, "Curcumin is proven to be even better for relieving arthritis pains and stiffness than expensive pharmaceuticals, without any side effects. It has also been proven to protect the liver and gallbladder...

Can I take Percogesic and Diclofenac 75mg together ## Hello, Erin! How are you? Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Percogesic is used to treat aches, pains and congestion. Its typical side effects may possibly include dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is concominent use of lisinopril contraindicated with nicorandil? ## I cannot post a definite answer for you whether Nicorandil and Lisinopril are contraindicated for one another because Nicorandil is not available in the USA. I will, however, summarize some details for you below, which may be of help. First, "Nicorandil acts by relaxing the smooth muscle of the blood vessels, especially those of the venous system. It does this through two methods. Firstly, by activating potassium channels, and secondly by donating nitric oxide to activate the enzyme guanylate cyclase." [1] There are a number of types of medication that can interact with Lisinopril. Those include: Diuretics, Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, Potassium Supplements, Potassium-Sparing Diuretics, and Lithium. [2...

I want to know if there is a drug that would be a combination of these two drugs. I can't take them both but I need to take them. I am alternating between them to treat my symptoms. I have Thyroiditis which it swells without the Motrin. and Fibromyalgia which is effecting my spine, spasams without the Naproxen. Please I need help ## They are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, which is why you aren't supposed to take both, doing so is essentially doubling up on the same medication, since they both treat the same conditions, and are in the same medication class. Naproxen and Motrin can also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. Have you consulted your doctor? They may be able to prescribe medications that c...
