I've been on Zoloft now for over a year for depression, decided to quit smoking 11/2010, started on Chantix, right after thanksgiving went to the ER with SEVERE, and i mean Severe Head pain that required cat scans, docs dismissed it as a side effect of chantix, gave me pain meds, sent me on my way, by this time i decided 1 chantix a day was sufficient, my general practioner agreed, the next month, i becam irritable, angry, moody, my family didn't know what was happening.... xmas eve day, i slashed my arm, for no reason...., i was supposedly in control of my depression...., had a nice few days in the hospital which refused my requests for my Chantix, i came home, content, happy, realizing the doc's had weaned me off Chantix, So this is a very SERIOUS WARNING, IF YOU are Takin...

I was just prescribed Rameron 30mg to take at bedtime to help with me sleep. I am also taking Adderall 30mg, Ativan 0.5mg and Celexa 20mg on a daily basis. I know Rameron has a side effect of weight gain. Has anyone heard of or experienced any worse side effects with the meds combined? Also I know it takes a while for the body to get used to a drug. If I start experiencing worse symptoms how long should I take the drug before consulting with my Dr? ## Hi, Emily! How are you doing? The most dangerous thing that can occur with this combination would be Serotonin syndrome, which can be very dangerous. Thus, if you start experiencing symptoms such as increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, tremors or twitching, then you need to seek medical attention immediately. Learn more Remeron detai...

I'm getting terrified after reading some Chantix horror stories and people who report never being the same after taking it. I just took my first dose of Chantix. Leading up to the decision to try it, I've been severely depressed for the past 3-4 months and recently began thinking that if I can just quit smoking I'll be healthier, able to exercise, date (not too many smoker lovers out there) and generally feel better. I now wonder if I'm better off smoking. I'm 32 (female if it matters) & already think that my seratonin levels/receptors are screwed up thanks to years of anti depressants (sertraline, generic for Zoloft). Tried going off that one several months ago and felt great at first then eventually crashed into deep depression. Started taking them (Zoloft) aga...

Hi! Started on 5 mg of Valium about 3 days ago. Also, due to some strange side effects, my doctor has taken me off of Wellbutrin, which I only took for a week. Prior to that, I had taken Cymbalta 30 mg for about 3 years. Doc stopped it as it was no longer effective and a higher dose made me very ill. He wanted to clear the anti depressants out of my system and gave me Valium to stave off the withdrawals from the Cymbalta and the side effects of Wellbutrin. Anyway, now I have acne and haven't since I was a teenager. I am 51 yrs old. ## Hello, Pandora! How are you? This medication has been known to cause random skin reactions, according to the FDA, but there is also a chance the acne could be due to withdrawing from the other medications, or a combination of both. Has there been any c...

I take Cymbalta 60 mg daily. I take it in the am to avoind sleepless nights, but that has not stopped. I may sleep an hour or two at the most every night. The depression is better but I am having second thoughts about continuing this medication. Like i said, I do not sleep at all. I have major night sweats and have terrible headaches. As odd as it may sound, the headaches are focused on the left side of my head. It feels like pressure and it builds. It does not last long but it is continual. I do have dizzy spells as well. I love what this has done for my depression but I am so confused about everything else that is happening since I started taking this drug. I have tried other anti depressants but this one seems to help the most. What to do?? ## Which other antidepressants have you tri...

I've been taking 60mg of Cymbalta for about a month and still feel the same. Is there anyone who could tell me more about this anti-depressant? ## Hi, Several people tell me the older Anti-depressants work best for them. Tofranil (or something like that) and others. Depending on your condition and what you can take for it you may want to try one thats been around for decades.... Good Luck... ## I have been taking cymbalta for about 3 months now. Before cymbalta I took lexapro. Neither one really cured every sypmptom of my depression. Sometimes counsilling is needed to. Talk to your doc and see if maybe there is another alternative. Im going to my schyc doc 6-21-05 and see if there is anything else I can get on. Keep in touch well get through this ## Cymbalta seemed to work good for ...

Would withdrawal symptoms affect me after forgetting to take the medication for 4 days? OR Would I be getting withdrawal symptoms from dropping dosages in my lexapro? I have been on it for roughly 6 months and 3 weeks ago the dr told me to drop down to 10mg which I cut my 20's in half but I am constantly forgetting. I haven't taken them for 4 days until I remembered last night. I feel mentally and emotionally fine. I don't cry more then usual and circumstances have changed for me recently and I felt as though I no longer need anti depressants. The last few weeks I've had some health issues similar to the side effects of starting lexapro but they only lasted about a week. but in the last week or so I've had a lot of other things that are beginning to concern me: -Incr...

I'm prescribed 25mg xR Adderall, and have been for about a year, year and a half. I absolutely love the stuff, nothing has ever worked for me the way this med does! I've been on anti-anxiety and anti-depressants, I've tried Wellbutrin and Ritalin. Nothing ever worked. But I feel like Adderall kick starts me, and puts me in some kind of "bubble" where I can be productive, stay motivated and focused and the energy! The energy is my favorite part. I don't feel like I'm dragging myself around anymore, I can keep moving without wandering off in my mind or being half asleep. It's great. BUT... as everybody knows it has it's "crash", headaches, nausea, tiredness or laziness, not being able to focus and hunger. I get all of that. Not always the headac...

Ihave been on cymbalta for 10 years. I tried to taper off but the side effects were like the worse flu I have ever had. I'm am depressed again and feel that it's time for a change. I don't want to increase dosage I want off. I have finally lost the weight I gained over the years on anti depressants and refuse to start gaining again. I'm bipolar so I can be without something. thanks for any help ## Unfortunately, weathering some of the withdrawal effects is likely the only way you're going to be able to stop taking it. Have you consulted your doctor? They may be able to help you set up a better tapering schedule that could minimize withdrawal effects a bit more. ## Hi Inda, I was on Cymbalta for 8 years, it took me 18 months to wean myself off it slowly. I have tried several anti-depressants and have yet to feel better. Started with Xanax years ago but only took it for a little while. Didn't take anything for 20 years. Now within the last two years I have tried Effexor, prozac, welbutrin and now viibryd. Only been on it for 3 weeks and still feel crappy. Mood is ok but so fatigued that I about can't go. I had an episode 9/13 where I became unresponsive and then was just in and out. I felt drugged and numb. Had weened off prozac and started viibryd. After spending 4 hrs in ER and having blood and urine evaluated and X-rays the dr said he thinks it may have been a reaction because of prozac was still in system. I actually thought I was going to die. I really don't believe the way I feel has anything to do with medication. Oh w...

Ive been prescribed 15mg tablets of mirtazapine but a little worried about taking them, are they very similar to sertaline , are they classed as anti-depressants or are they sleeping tablets. Please help thank you in advance ## I am taking migraine for one week and have not been able to sleep for 3 days now . All night long I am awake . Please help me and let me know what to do. My dr. Tells me I have to fight it. I feel awful. All I do is like awake hours. ## Hello, Julie! How are you? Yes, it is a classified as an antidepressant, though in a different class than Sertraline. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. I have heard and read that some anti-depressants can cause women to start producing milk - is this a side effect of adco-alzam 0,25mg? ## This it not an antidepressant, it is a benzodiazepine that is used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. The NIH warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. Are you on any other medications?

## I started taking 15 mg of Mirtazapine a month ago and for anxiety, feelings of fear and worry and depression. I’m still feeling some worry and fear. I’m having some bad dreams and very over anxious. I’m having headaches and constipation. These dreams are the worst. Do these side effects get less powerful over time? ## Many people on Mirtazapine report a worsening of their symptoms of anxiety and depression in the early weeks of starting Mirtazapine (same as many other anti-depressants). It can take several weeks for the drug to begin working and then symptoms improve. Mirtazapine usually works faster than newer SSRI anti-depressants (many people report improvements between 2-5 weeks). However some people may need their dosage adjusting to get the full benefit. I've recently been to visit my doctor about my anti depressants. I've been getting CITALOPRAM 30MG DAILY, but they wasn't working anymore. My doctor has started me with SERTRALINE 50MG DAILY, INCREASING TO 100MG next week. I've been informed of some people that these are also prescribed as an anti phycotic, please can someone who knows about these things please help me out with the truth? ## Sertraline is classified as a selective serotonin uptake inhibitor, it is used to treat depression, and anxiety. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, weight changes, and mood changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on anti-depressants since 1999 and would like to get off them altogether. I started with Paxil and after several years, it just wasnt cutting it anymore. Lexapro was a complete 180 right from the start. I am only on 10mg a day, but would like to stop. Had a real bad experience with stopping Paxil once for a week prior to a sleep study and am worried quitting Lexapro might be the same. I dont see a shrink cause he just pushed the meds the pharm rep was selling and my regular dr doesnt know much about it... help ## After being on it for that long, you'll definitely have to do a very slow taper, otherwise on top of the possible withdrawal type symptoms, you'll also likely experience rebound effects. These effects can include depressive symptoms that are worse than the o...

I have been on different anti-depressants for years. About four years ago I was put on Cymbalta 30mg, raised up to 90mg, then lowered back down to 30mg. The problem I am having started about three years ago and I have yet to find one doctor that knows anything about it. I have full body tremors, not just my hands. It is like my entire body jerks and jumps and I expel a whoosh of air when it happens. Sometimes they get so bad that they seem close to a seizure. I have had a bunch of evaluations. My neurologist says it is mental, psychiatrist says physical. I have simply been in tears. Has anyone else had anything like this and what did the doctors tell you about it? ## Trembling or shaking of the hands and feet are listed as possible side effects by the FDA, as well as full body tremors, ...

I am 53 & never taken any meds other than aspirin, except Percoset lately for headaches from an annyerism surgery. I realized it helped with my anxiety. Dr. wants to put me on Cymbalta instead. Should I stay on Percoset or switch to Cymbalta ? Which side effects are worse ? ## Sorry, but it sounds like you are addicted to percoset. Many anti-depressants can help with addiction, and Cymbalta has been approved to treat some types of pain, but I don't think you should start if its anxiety that you are reporting. The percoset is only dulling your senses at this point. I'm guessing that it's physically jittering to NOT take it. That is not the same as anxiety from a psychiatric disorder, which usually starts earlier in life. It's like say you were feverish, so you started...

Is methocarbamol (robaxin) a steroid or anti-depressant? I started using it two months ago in Apr 2013 and I am experiencing severe mood swings. The two things that cause me mood swings is IM, IV, or oral steroids or any type of anti-depressant. I'm becoming reclusive, angry and noncommunicative. This happens every time I'm exposed to either drug category. I know depressants can also cause these side effects, but I've had lots of those without side effects whereas I've never taken one of the aforementioned without them. Thx! ## No, Robaxin/Methocarbamol is just a muscle relaxant, but mood changes are warned about in the monograph as being a potential serious side effect. Thus, you should most likely stop taking it and contact your doctor as soon as possible. It seems it ...

I have been using Cilift 20mg as well as Alzam for just over 2 years. I have Rheumatoid arthritis. Started taking anti depressants after my husband committed suicide over 2 years ago. I do not sleep well. I still feel down at times, I have terrible pain in my hips, knees and elbows. Seems both tablets do not work for me anymore. Does the Cilift and the Alzam not affect the balance of my hormones? Oh I'm 63 Years old. I want to wean myself from these two meds. What would be the best route to follow? When I talk to my GP she says 'take them, you need them to cope'. I refuse to take a sleeping pill. ## Hello, Mathilda! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It could be that you just need a dosage adjustment. No dosage of any given medication lasts forever, our bodies eve...
