Is it safe to take antacids, and staten medication with nitrofurant macro ## Hi Puba, I haven't come across any specific details notating that you can't use nitrofurantoin with statin medication. However Walgreens' drug monograph for nitrofurantoin strongly advises against taking any type of antacid that contains "magnesium trisilicate" with it. From what I've read, apparently the magnesium can impact how well nitrofurantoin is absorbed. Their statement goes on to mention that you should double check with a pharmacist in order to ensure whether or not a particular antacid has this ingredient prior to purchasing. Did your doctor recommend that all three types of medications be taken together? ## Thank yiu. No my doctor did not mention taking all 3 together. I do h...

Heartburn, also known as pyrosis,[1] cardialgia, or acid indigestion[2] is a burning sensation[3] in the chest, just behind the breastbone or in the epigastrium, the upper central abdomen.[4] The pain often rises in the chest and may radiate to the neck, throat, or angle of the jaw. Heartburn is usually associated with regurgitation of gastric acid (gastric reflux) which is the major symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).[5] It may also be a symptom of ischemic heart disease, thou...

I cannot take aspirin products at this time. I need relief for stomach ache. What can I use? ## An antacid is not necessarily the proper thing to alleviate a stomach ache, either. The will only help with issues that have been caused by excess acid, such as gastritis, GERD, pain from ulcers, and heartburn, as detailed by the NIH. What has caused the stomach ache? Has there been any change? Are you on any medications? An I am not aware of any that contain Aspirin. Since it is actually very harsh on the stomach, according to the FDA.

I have nighttime acid reflux mostly. The ranitidine works to keep my acid lower but I get very vivid dreams. I try occasional Gaviscon but all these antacids with artificial sugars give me bad gas and are bad for you. They say tums and other antacids would taste too chalky w/o the sorbitol? Too much baking soda is bad for your kidneys... PPIs are generally bad for you. My head is elevated and I don't have any food or drinks for 3 hrs. before bed. Any ideas on a safe antacid for nighttime GERD? ## Hi Trish, Sorry to hear about your condition with GERD. My dad has a similar problem and also doesn't eat or drink a few hours before bedtime. I have been eating allegra 120 since last 1 month. my question is can i eat Tritrab-DSR (rabprazole) antacid. ## Hi Rucha, According to umm.edu, there are no drug interactions listed between Allegra and Rabeprazole. Based off this information alone, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able take these two meds together. The only thing I'm weary of when it comes to using more than 1 medication at a time is that in the event of any side effects (god forbid), it may be difficult to determine which medication is the underlying cause. At any rate, please post back if there's anything else I can help with! ## Hi.
