Hi Ladies and Gents, Please i have been nursing angina pains for the past two - three years now. I have been religiously taking my recommended tablet (Nitromin) tablet 5 mg initially and currently the Nitromin Spray. My concern is that this medication no longer has good control as it was before. I was advice that body systems have outgrown the drug. Please advice. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Yes, it is normal for your body to eventually get used to any medication, in a certain dosage, that you have been taking for a long period of time. This means you should consult your doctor, as you may require a medication dosage adjustment, or a switch to a different medication.

Your doctor(s) can even report this to the driver's bureau, in most countries, so your license is flagged and if you get pulled over, you could end up ...

My doctor gave me this because I have angina and when I lay down it hurts worse. What are the known side effects of this drug? ## Here's some more information on it: Ranexa Info Click Here This is not recommended for use during an acute angina attack, and it does carry various side effects, and there are some other meds and medical conditions that it can cause problems with, as you will see from the link I posted above. If it is causing your problems, there are other drug treatment options available, so you could talk to your doctor about it, and maybe try something else. ## Me too. Is Ranexa a Nitrate? ## I am not finding that listed in the monographs. You could try also checking with your doctor or pharmacy.

i have angina and daily suffer chest pains. i have been prescribed nitromin spray by my doctor but cannot use the same due to the most severe headaches this immediately results after one spray of nitromin (the headaches are unbearable) can you advise if there is an alternative to nitromin spray? thank you in advance for your kind reply ## Have you consulted your doctor about seeing if there's something you can use for the headaches? Unfortunately, this is a common side effect of virtually all medications that are used to treat angina, because of the active ingredient Nitrogylcerin. You should consult your doctor for a solution, because leaving your angina go untreated can be very dangerous.

I was wondering if anyone can answer one question for me,... I'm on altace 5mg. Of course i have angina, doctor keep telling me i will never get a heart attack, is that true or false? I get the feeling he tells me that so i do not panic however i need to know the truth, so i can take care of myself better than i do right now. Would someone kindly let me know? ## No one can say that you WILL never get a heart attack, it is always possible, no matter what medications you are taking. So yes, taking care of yourself is advisable, even if you aren't worried about having a heart attack.

Could the irregularities be due to artery spasm? I have ticked all boxes for prinzmetal angina but doc still doesn't seem to think these attacks are heart related. I am concerned that because i do have heart disease can the angina be dangerous? I have had the attacks on and off since 2009. I was in the hospital twice. Nitro seems to help. I am still worried. ## I don't have an answer for you but I exactly what your going through. I am writing this as I sit in a hospital room just for exactly what you have. I took one of these pills after finding out that i have angina upon doing a stress test. The chest pain from the angina was manageable, and really minor. It had been going on for 5 months but had improved with change in diet, stopping alcohol and sweets. I was working hard doing construction and pain actually always went away late in the day. Apparently exercise is healthy, much healthier than these pills

Terrible angina on minor exertion. Legs need cat scan for vascular blockage. Isosorbide 30mg helps angina for 12-15 hours then I might need a small nitro tablet. Also the isosorbide has made my blood pressure perfect. This after a four year battle just taking 25 mg metropolol twice a day a 50 mg of losartan once. My question, do I need to take the losartan and metropolol anymore? I also take plavix. You should know that my problems started four years ago when a drugstore BP machine indicated my BP was high. My doctor at the time prescribed hydrochlorothorazide and lisinopril. four days later I was in the emergency room with fried kidneys. In summary, the two aforementioned drugs, and amlodipine, clonidine damn near killed me. I wouldn’t give them to a dog. After two years of this,...
