my mother has been prescribed with amtas-HT for bp 190/90.earlier she was taking REVELOL XL 25.but it could not lower her bp.does the new medicine have any side effects? ## Hello, Angelina! How are you? All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, it's just the nature of adding chemicals to the body to try to correct a problem. Amtas-HT contains the active ingredients Amlodipine and Hydrochlorothiazide and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and dehydration. However, the important thing to remember is that she would be in far more danger if she doesn't take the medication to lower her blood pressure. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was prescribed with amtas 5 for BP150/90. Is there any side effects if I take for one month and stop. Then go for natural healing methods to bring down my BP. ## This medication contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, which is a calcium channel blocker and yes, you shouldn't stop this ,education abruptly after taking it for a month. But they dnt disapear. When will the rashes disapear and will they disappear forever. ## Hello, Thessia! I am sorry about the problem you're experiencing. Can you please post back and describe the rash in more detail? According to NIH studies, there is a chance that it might be unrelated to the medication, the rash could be caused by some other issue. Have you experienced such a rash, before? Are you on any other medications? Are you engaging in intercourse?

Hi, I have been taking Amtas-10mg for my hypertension for about a year. Since the time I started taking this tablet, I have noticed that my fasting blood sugar has steadily increased from 105 mg/dl to 165 mg/dl. Until I started taking this tablet, I had never had raised fasting blood sugar. My GP says my raised blood sugar has nothing to do with taking Amtas. I would like to have a second opinion on this matter. Thanks in advance. ## Amtas contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, which is a calcium channel blocker that's commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. And yes, it is known that Amlodipine can cause elevated blood sugar levels and it is usually warned against being used in people that are already diagnosed as Diabetic for that reason. I...

Two months ago I was prescribed amass 5mg. My bp is perfect but I noticed this week that I have gained weight. I never had a weight problem before. My diet has not changed. Could the weight gain be attributed to amtas? ## Hello, CynAnne! How are you doing? Yes, most blood pressure and heart medications have been known to cause weight gain in some people that take them. The average is usually about 10 pounds, according to the U.S. FDA. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. If you'd like, you could try asking your doctor about trying a different medication, to see if there is one that won't cause you to experience weight gain. I have been taking Losacar-H along with Amtas AT for the past seven years for my blood pressure. Now that my blood pressure is well under control, is there any harm in continuing these medications? ## While there are always risks associated with using any medication long-term, the risks to you are far greater if you stop taking them and let your blood pressure get out of control. Has your doctor been running occasional blood tests to check your liver and kidney function? If those tests show no abnormalities and the medications are still working for you, then there is no need to switch or change your regimen, unless your doctor advises you to do otherwise. Losocar-H contains Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Amtas-AT contains Amlodipine and Atenolol. ## Thank you very much for your reply...

How is your husband? If the doctor has instructed him to take both doses, then he should do so. That blood pressure reading is very high and could place his life in danger, so the medication has been prescribed to try to bring it down as fast as possible. Hi there I'm diabetic and take Indoblok 40mg 5x pd and Amtas 5 in morning. My heartbeat so fast if I don't have indoblok. I'm using it for 30 yrs now... I have an enlarged heart... My heart rate is 103 and higher.. What can I do please? ## Hello, Rubi! How are you? What is your heart rate with the Indoblok? Is 103 a resting heart rate or is that after activity? It is normal for those with such a heart condition to have a higher heart rate, due to the fact that their heart has to work harder than normal. Medications such as this are usually intended to help keep the heart from having to work so hard, so it doesn't go into heart failure. I have to take one every day, due to high blood pressure, which causes by heart rate to accelerate. Continuing your medication, as direct...

For 6 years I was taking Losar H 1 tab (morning) And Amtas AT 25 1 tab (at night). With these two tabs my BP used to be 130/80. Whenever I tried to reduce the dose my BP use to spike upwards. Since Jan 15 I started exercises like brisk walking, climbing hills, aerobics and weight training. During one year as per my doctor's advice Amtas AT 25 was stopped as BP readings came down to as low as 110/70. Now with only Losar H in the morning my readings are 115/75. Can exercise reduce BP dose? ## Hello, Sham! How are you? Yes, exercise can lower it for some people and so can dietary improvements. Long-term use of the medications creates the risk of liver and kidney damage, or failure, according to the U.S. FDA, so diet and exercise are actually much safer. Is there anything else I can hel...
