Ampitrexyl is actually an over the counter natural product that's claimed to treat bacterial infections, but as with other supplement/herbal products, this hasn't actually been proven. If you do have an infection, it would be best to see your doctor for a proper antibiotic and not rely on this one. Infections left untreated can become systemic and life threatening. However, I will say that most antibiotics I've taken for bacterial infections have been prescribed for an average of 7-10 days; and I've personally never heard of anyone walking away with a 5 day prescription of antibiotics, but I'm sure there are some of those cases out there with minimal infections.
