Hi, I am taking 1000-62.5 amox-clav er. 2 pills in am and 2 pills in the pm. Is this too much to take? ## Hello, Carrie! How are you? Was that the dosage prescribed for you? Doctor's will sometimes prescribe higher amounts of an antibiotic, if an infection is particularly severe or hasn't responded to prior treatment. I have a bad stye on my lower eyelid and it is causing my eye to become red. Can I use Amoxicillin-Clavulanic acid 875mg for my eye? Last time I had this I had periocular cellulitis and I have the same symptoms. I was given Keflex, but I have a prescription for this medication. ## It may help, but you should not take it, unless your medical provider approves, because antibiotics should not be overused. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. Has any testing been done to see what's causing them? I used to get them, while married to my ex-husband, but I haven't gotten one in years. (I said this, so I will likely develop one soon. LOL) Anyway, I never thought to speak to my doctor and have them checked out.

I am allergic to amoxicillin, and my doctor gave me augmentin. I did not know this antibiotic contained amoxicillin (and I am guessing he overlooked it), and it almost killed me. If you get this, make sure you are not allergic to any of the cillin drugs~ ## Yes, Augmenting contains Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid and should not be used if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. I've been using Clavam 625 and have noticed that I started getting a skin rash. Is this a known side effect? If so, please advise what I can do to help get rid of it. ## Also, is there any alternative to Clavam 625 that I could ask my doctor about? ## Clavam contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic that's commonly prescribed in the U.S. under the brand name Augmentin and yes, a skin rash can be a normal side effect. Unfortunately, the only remedy is to stop taking the medication and let the rash wear off. However, you should contact your doctor about an alternative medication to use and an antihistamine, if they approve your use of it, may help with the rash.
