However yes, you can smoothly transition from one to the other. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. I had a sinus infection a few months ago and my doctor prescribed amoxicillin. Today I noticed the signs of a cold sore coming. Could I take the rest of my amoxicillin to get rid of it? ## Unfortunately, cold sores are caused by a virus, so an antibiotic will not help treat or prevent them. However, you could ask your doctor about taking Acyclovir, which is approved by the FDA to help prevent them. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, I'm getting lipliner tattoo and would like to know if I take Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium 875mg will prevent me from getting cold sores? I stopped taking after 12 days and on the last day my feces turned white. They are still white 10 days later with severe itching and dark urine. Went to ER for cat scan and all is normal except elevated liver functions. GI doctor says this reaction can last a very long time. Any advice? ## Hi Marsha, Black/clay colored stools, blood in the stools, and dark urine are just a few side effects of Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium. The only suggestion I have would be to eat a very clean diet consisting of fruits and veggies and alkaline water. This may help your body to rid itself of the leftover medication faster. Light exercise will also help your body to sweat out any unnecessary toxins. Learn More: Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium Details I hope this info/advice helps!

I have been on amox-clav for 7 days and a few days ago my tongue got sore is this normal. ## Hi Diane, Does your tongue also get a bit swollen as a result of the soreness? After taking a look at some of the side effects for this drug, I do believe it can cause your tongue to be sore: "Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking amoxicillin / clavulanate: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat." Learn More: Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium Details If your tongue is just sore and not necessarily swollen, I would still consider having it checked out by your doctor in the event that the pain is still occurring. I hope this helps!

I have "Diverticulitis and I'm taking Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium tablets 875mg. This 2nd day. I've taken 3 already. The doctor told me to take it twice a day for 10 days. When should I see improvement? And should I be on a liquid diet or low residue diet? Thanks for your help! ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? The FDA classifies this mediation as being an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. As to when you should see an improvement, there's really no way to say. Diverticulitis can be very tricky to treat and may not respond to the initial course of antibiotics. Not sure what this is... my neighbor gave me one and said it's for pain... ## Hi Nic, Based on the description provided, I've identified your white pill marked "X 32" as Amoxicillin (875mg) + Clavulanate Potassium (125mg); which is NOT used for pain, but rather in the treatment of bacterial infections. Manufactured by: NorthStar Rx LLC You can learn more about this drug on the page for Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium Details In light of this, I would question the legitimacy of your neighbor's word, since this actually has nothing to do with pain management or pain relief unless it is proven to be caused by a serious infection.
