Amox TR/Potassium Clavulanate 875-125. I know Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. What is TR-Potassium Clavulanate and what is it for. I am taking this for a sinus infection. ## It's more commonly referred to as Clavulanic Acid, it basically enhances the effects and efficacy of the Amoxicillin to make it work better, the name brand for this would be Augmentin. Can I take Mucinex along with Tylenol & Amoxicillin / Clavulanate Potassium Tablets, USP 875 mg/125 mg? ## Hi Nancy, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Mucinex, Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Amoxicillin. While this doesn't necessarily mean no interactions exist, I personally haven't had any issues taking these together in the past. However, if in doubt, it may be a good idea to double check with your doctor first. I hope this helps!

A few weeks ago I was sick and was prescribed Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium tablets 875/125 mg to take twice a day. They worked fast and I didn't feel the need to complete the treatment. I woke up with horrible throat pain a couple of nights ago, it would not let me sleep! the next 2 days were hell. I remembered I had the meds and decided to take them. The problem? After that last time that I took them, we discovered that our 21 month old baby is allergic to penicillin. He had been taking it, because he was sick and a few days after starting he started to have a reaction. My mother in law and my own mother are very allergic to it. I can't hold my baby!!! Is this a sulfa base drug ## From what I can this is not a sulfa based drug, as Amoxicillin does not appear to be on the list of sulfonamides I found (only two other antibiotics were listed). I don't know however, if this list is a complete list or partial list of sulfa based medications. For this reason, it may be a good idea to double check with your local pharmacy regarding this pill.
